My husband had vasectomy at 27. I don't have kids and I went with him to doctor to get consult and procedure. Ten years now and we are still happy with choice and still happily married. We are selfish and happy. We don't care what you think!
@Arcade Cowboy I agree. I had mine last year at 27 when I used up my employer-based insurance deductible for the year, so it was basically free. I had wanted one since I was about 13. Pets are a lot cheaper, less time consuming and more fun than children. Luckily I found a girl who feels the same. If we don't work out and I find someone who wants kids, I'll just tell her, "yeah! me too! we just have to keep trying different positions and it'll work!" LOL
I'm about the same age as this guy and I got snipped too. I also knew that I didn't want kids since I was about 12 years old. Best decision of my life (and I really mean that). This guy is a role model.
I had a vasectomy when I was 32. Never regretted it. Gave me the freedom to enjoy a long bachelorhood without worry of getting snookered someone who "accidentally" forgot to take her pill. At 44 I met the woman I wanted to marry. We've been married 18 years now.
My husband and I made the decision to not have children before we were even married. My husband had a vasectomy at 26 ( I was 23) before our first wedding anniversary. There was a lot of closure that went with it and it was great. We've been together almost 11 years and married 2 and love that we came to a mutually agreement very easily not to have children. I've felt exactly the same as Toby for years. I don't want children and feel it would be wrong for me to have them. The challenge is finding a doctor that will do it for you when you're young and childless.
That is so annoying. I want kids personally but it's really annoying that guys who don't want kids can't get snipped when you're young and childless as that's the best time and age to do it
He nailed it too: bring it up right away. there’s no point in wasting anyone’s time. If the lady wants a family of her own, then part ways. I had my Vasectomy when I was 30. I wanted it sooner but the doc made me wait til I hit the 3-0. I’m 36 now and I love my life ☺️
A lot of the people who don't want kids, including me, don't want them because we lack maternal/paternal feelings. It's just not a desire, so why bother? And some of us don't even like kids. The fact that we can save more money and reach our life goals easier than we could if we had kids is just a bonus. Why have a kid just for the sake of having a kid if it would make one miserable?
I hate how the sex therapist automatically jumped to the conclusion that there is something wrong with people who don't want kids, and that it's something that needs to be corrected. Further, even if people did have psychological issues which caused them to not want children, they probably shouldn't have children.
Like it that he is has made a very responsible decision to not have kids. Just wish doctors would give the same respect to women who want to get sterilised.
Well most people I know who have kids are not together. Most all friends I had in school had kids and are not with the kid's fathers.I have a brother who did not marry but did get a women pregnant 3 times. He hates her! ,but stays with her for the kids.I don't think that's right. I really think kids are just another type of imprisonment. Everyone thinks they're in love when they meet another, then are quick to have kids, then soon start to hate each other but I guess this keeps slaves of people
I wish that I could get sterilized. I've known my entire life that I do not want children, and have spent the last 16 years trying to accomplish this only to be insulted, demeaned, told that I need therapy, that I am not old enough to decide, that I can't decide this until I have children (that I do not want). I've tried PP, and got the same treatment when I said 'zero' is all the children I ever want. Female doctors have been far worse, as if being a childfree woman is a slap in their faces.
I got a vasectomy at 22 ( unheard of from many people) that was 5 years ago and i never regretted it, but many women have a problem with it. I am looking toward older women because by then some cannot have kids and or do not want them. It can be challenging.
He's a smart man. I'm a woman and even though I'm only 20 I know for a fact that I do not want one. I just don't want to deal with kids. I don't hate them but being a mother is not what I want.

I've done my research on the side effects of a vasectomy and it made me somewhat nervous. I'm still thinking about it. I know that I don't want kids.

Yeah exactly. If you ever regret not having kids isn't only gonna affect you. But a person that have kids and then regrets it is not only gonna make his/her life miserable but chances are it's gonna affect the kids and the partner as well. To have children is a way bigger decision and a way bigger responsibility, yet people make that decision on a whim or even by accident without anyone thinking it's odd. But my well thought out decision to not have kids is really strange to some people.

Really good point. When will it be socially acceptable to have "abortion showers" or some sort of party for making a really wise decision and not just blindly jumping off the cliff into a lifetime of misery and poverty.
in most so called civilized nations people are financially rewarded for having kids, no matter what - it's called welfare. when you see the toll it takes on individual dysfunctional families (that's just about everyone today and for the last several decades or more), why aren't people financially rewarded for having vasectomies or their tubes tied? these surgical procedures should be granted without any cost - it's so minute when you compare the flip side.
@batmanpronz If you can get away with it, do it. I'm surprised you're having such a hard time. Doctors always seem to be more willing to do vasectomies than they are tubals.
I will never ever ever ever have a vasectomy and i dont want kids. first it hurts like hell second if i ever want kids too late third it's 600 where i live and i dont want to waste money
But what about the people who dedicate their lives to a career or community opportunities that benefit this world? People like George Washington Carver and Oprah Winfrey have donated their entire lives to contributing something to this world, from education to food for those who are less fortunate. There is no shame in choosing not to have children if one sees the window of opportunity in it like they did. The choice is not always based on material possessions.
Love how in this video, the woman ''sex therapist'' tries to make being childfree a psychological issue. This is just another dumb stereotype about the childfree. My husband recently had a vasectomy, and I know for a fact that it was not due to some ''psychological issue.'' We have been married 5 years, and we both know we don't want children. We both had decent, somewhat normal childhoods.
Oh and travel is good for the soul. At least for those of us who crave it. I don't consider travel to be a material thing. Sorry for replying to you so much, but there's a lot in your two post that irk me. lol.
@remulak56 Great choice, planning to do the same! Having kids is so cliche ....too many responsibilities , struggles, worries, disappointment, it aint worth it. Life should be enjoyed
Hi--author of Families of Two here..We need to see more pieces on this topic~Why there is a sex therpist on there I don't know...but her advice applies to All people when it comes to having kids or not. Laura Carroll
Good advice and most of the time, a vasectomy can even be reversed.Or failing that, you could adopt one of the millions of unwanted babies in this insane world.
I got my vasectomy done yesterday I made the decision but I was not going to be financially responsible for any more children I already have children. But most men who get that procedure done that is their outlook.
Carrying the family name my ass. What if he had a daughter instead of a son, or if he does change his mind. Could he simply adopt a child put there by teenage parents like an unwanted pet?
He treats her like crap!,... but she is an idiot! with the first kid she said she was on the pill, but soon "prego", He tried to leave her but my mom is very religious and made him get back with her,3yrs later again! "on the pill" but prego again.and with the third he was very pissed but...again! Now he has gained a lot of weight and drinks a lot! he might as well stay with her cause no one else will even look at him. I think that's very sad! but oh well! It is his fault. Still sad tho!
Why does he hate her? Is she awful to him or is it because she wouldn't use birth control? Also, sorry if this sounds rude but if your brother doesn't love this woman then they shouldn't have had sex. Anything could happen, condoms break all the time so don't be careless and have unplanned kids with a person you don't actually love just because you have that urge. I personally think people can live their lives fine without sex and it should really only be done if you DO want kids.
Actually no, I just hate people who are self centered and believe material things like money and having all the time in the world to entertain only you and your partner are more meaningful than starting a family. If anything, a child you made together out of love will make you even closer.
Not, children stress a marriage no one will admit that but its true. Everything in marriage takes a back seat once children arrive, sleep, fun with friends, intimacy with your partner, too much so I'm like no. Hate me if you will but it's naive to think a child will make two people get closer together.
@ellamiuz ur very wrong. His act is very heroic and inspiring. Having kids is so cliche , the biggest problem in society is over population. If every one could procreate we would be suffocated....planning to do the same... hahahaha
What exactly are you prevented from doing if you have kids? Everyone on here is acting like they're this huge inconvenience in your life that destroy all your hopes and dreams. This "window of opportunity" you speak of is just someone thinking that they could do something because they never had kids when really, you can still do whatever you want if you have them. It's YOU that could hold yourself back, not kids.
Well for starters, it costs over $200000 to have just one kid, and that is just the bare bones expenses from prenatal care & birth to clothing and food. That is assuming that you never have to hire childcare labor either. Not counting anything fun you want to do with the child, nor the man-hours you spend taking care of the child.
And if you end up not having any involvement in the child's life, possibly because your relationship with the mother didn't work out, you have to make 216 monthly payments based on your income to her. The national average child support payment is $430 a month, which amounts to $93000 in total. The reason why this is so low, is that the majority of absent fathers are financial turnips who can't be bled for anything more. If you make a decent living, your child support payment will be a lot higher. Remember, when love is gone, it is all about money.
Having kids isn't the end of the world, I don't understand why so many people don't want them or seem afraid to even try. Wouldn't it get so boring just being you and your spouse until you die? The reason seems to be because of material things like money or big trips but you don't really gain anything from those.

If my kids turned out anything like me, they would probably prefer to not exist because of things like laws about medicine and hemp and stuff
And then they would have to go to school and get a job, while not breaking any of these dumbass laws. Jesus Christ.
I agree. There are too many children in need of a home. Let's stop breeding and empty them out.
Really good point. When will it be socially acceptable to have "abortion showers" or some sort of party for making a really wise decision and not just blindly jumping off the cliff into a lifetime of misery and poverty.
That is pretty awesome, I am a 23 year old woman and would do anything to get sterilised, i have yet to find a doctor who will do it for me.
in most so called civilized nations people are financially rewarded for having kids, no matter what - it's called welfare. when you see the toll it takes on individual dysfunctional families (that's just about everyone today and for the last several decades or more), why aren't people financially rewarded for having vasectomies or their tubes tied? these surgical procedures should be granted without any cost - it's so minute when you compare the flip side.
@batmanpronz If you can get away with it, do it. I'm surprised you're having such a hard time. Doctors always seem to be more willing to do vasectomies than they are tubals.
Meant to say women instead of woman and would instead of who*
@JonMoody47
I hope to follow your footsteps, sir. I'm 24 now, and I'm about 99% sure that I want to enjoy my life without the stress of kids.
Sorry for replying to you so much, but there's a lot in your two post that irk me. lol.
@remulak56
Great choice, planning to do the same!
I'm guessing you already have kids? once you have one, you don't have a choice!
where his hairline at
I’m trans next year I won’t have that issue 😂
Actually no, I just hate people who are self centered and believe material things like money and having all the time in the world to entertain only you and your partner are more meaningful than starting a family. If anything, a child you made together out of love will make you even closer.
Not, children stress a marriage no one will admit that but its true. Everything in marriage takes a back seat once children arrive, sleep, fun with friends, intimacy with your partner, too much so I'm like no. Hate me if you will but it's naive to think a child will make two people get closer together.
@dstephens2008 Oh wow, that's real lucky. Hopefully I can find one that will let me get my tubes tied one day. Still hoping!
vasectomy is forbidden in catholic religion.
Ones heart should desire love, marriage and children.
He is not good looking so perhaps this is for the best XD
JWille Series good thing you’re just a troll with no validity in life.
@@mikenelson8377 At least I am prietter then you XD
@ellamiuz
ur very wrong.
