you shouldn't look at big toss in second castle as a "it is faster than bat smashing here" look for chances to save bat smashes in spots u can't normally use them because of mp if possible.

I'm never going to speedrun a game, ever, but the community behind speedrunning in general is fascinating for some reason. The way it takes itself so seriously, micro-celebrity skilled speedrunners, tools and theory crafting, all for something which only holds importance to the people doing it. The way it breaks open games and pulls out so much more enjoyment, so many more layers than the developers ever intended, and keeps a freshness to games that are decades old. I could watch tons of videos like this.

It;s nice to see luck mode coming back, mostly because I cant reliably do the old meta death skip but still, now I just need to learn the glitch to go through walls, and ill almost be competitive.

Question: You mentioned ideally grabbing the Garnet before making the sub-7 clock cycle, which costs 5 seconds. Is it possible for an enemy on the routing to randomly drop a Garnet (or any other sellable Gem) to save that time?
I had rented SOTN once but didn't really get it, and the time I settled in to playing it to finish I put in the luck code, not knowing it was also a hard mode code. I also didn't realize how fucking amazing it was that I just happened upon Crissaegrim without really trying. These speedruns though, goddamn!
damn. i was speedrunning SOTN without even realizing that was wat i was doing when i was a kid, i figured out the wolf jump extension all by myself thru trial and error, that's how intune i was with that game. that being said, i'm HIGHLY fucking impressed sir. my hats off to u.
I'm surprised nobody thought of this sooner. It seems pretty obvious that that would be a quicker method of travel. I guess you can't use it in the long marble gallery room though. Too bad.

watched the archive of the 16:19 and it was funny how disappointed you were still. I think working out a system for taking breaks will lead to better play, better health, and better streams so hopefully you can figure that out, you wrecking your arm/hand isn't worth lowering the record :)
Next summer when college is out, I'm going to buckle down and farm toadstool skip. I feel like a 1 in 4100 is so achievable. Those are like, shiny pokemon odds. But for now, I'm just going to practice and optimize routes.
The stone rose or other creature can't big toss you if you stay a low enough level to skip that entire hallway...back and forth health items become a problem I'm sure, but there's the doppelganger boss fight save point for the 1st time through

Ah the good old bus theory. If you're all catching the same bus (in this case clock cycle) it doesn't matter how early or late you are the bus will come along when it is ready so to save time you need to catch the previous bus.

No most of the gems that can be dropped are really low value and I dont think any enemies can drop garnets especially on that rout
If memory does not fail, no enemy drops gemstones in the route
Luck Mode should be its own category lol.
