I’ve hatched 250+ snails with this exact method I learned from you, I’ve thrown so many purple nerite cutches away because I couldn’t get them to hatch. This way has had a 100% success rate with three or so cutches in the past two months.

My hobby turned into an obsession is ball pythons currently. I have 8, 1 of them adopted from a family driving through town in an RV that got a flat. LoL! It's been crazy fun to learn everything I can. I grew up with fish in the house as a kid, kind of miss having a tank. So watching you with your business, really helps with the lack of a tank of my own.

I've seen apple snail love...Oh boy ...in my thank :P ... And I've had the opportunity of actually growing out baby apple snails, and incubated them, similar to your method. I had 100's of them hatch of just one clutch! Later, they grew to about the size of a large marble. They do grow fast! So, I had to donate them to my LFS because I didn't have the room :) The few that I kept are now happy in my tank and still growing.

Trick I picked up from Cory from aquarium co-op, tums. At first I didn't think it was doing anything, but once my snails figured out what it was they would eat about 1/16 to 1/8 of a tum per day for about a week. I have 3 so I'd just put in a 1/4 of one which was enough for a day or two, but I'd wait a day or two then put in a new piece... holy cow. The snails have doubled in size in 1 month, from about 3/4 of an inch to almost 2, and they've just laid eggs (why I looked up this video). You put tums in for the babies they'll have the nicest smoothest shells and they'll be huge in just a few months.

I had a small clutch hatch today, suddenly, within an hour or so. The adults were below the clutch as they hatched. Do the adults eat the babies as they hatch? 😢 I saw a few tiny babies, smaller than I was expecting, all with a white transparent shell and a darker button in the middle of the whorl. Is that usual? My snails aren't that color (gold, or brown, or purple, or magenta) so I am looking forward to seeing what color they are.

What am I doing wrong? They sit there and after a couple days leak out yellow fluid and stain the wet paper towel. They looked dry on top so I dribbled water over them maybe 2-3 times in a week

Right now its hard, but you can also hatch a partial clutch or just keep up your husbandry for a later date and freeze the clutches now. That being said, its super fun to grow then out but there is a responsible aspect

man these things are everywhere in southeast Louisiana you can walk the canal bank and fill up a five gallon bucket of their shells pretty quickly. I guess raccoons or something must eat them because the shells are everywhere along the banks of most waterways. you can see the bright pink egg clusters all over bridge supports and anything else that sticks out of the water. they are all that yellowish brown color though. it would be cool if they had different colors but i haven't seen any yet.

+Matt probably invasives, not this species.

yeah the ones here are a lot bigger than those. everyone calls them apple snails though so im not sure what they really are. but the eggs looks exactly the same as those. we have texas blues all over the place too because someone let them loose years ago and they took over a lot of canals.

+Matt there are dozens of species of apple snails. It is almost like saying tetra, or Catfish, etc. Mystery snails certainly could become invasive.

    Please help ..
I wasn't able to find too much research they didn't give me an exact answer that I need.
    But..
I have a really big apple snail and it laid a whole bunch of pink reddish eggs.
    Are they already fertilized?
Or do they just turn whitish grayish when they muture??
The eggs are out of water under the glass lid.
    There's plenty of moister.
Anything else I need to do to get these lil fellas to hatch?

I have a tank with only mystery snails. They breed like crazy but I'm leaving the eggs in since there are no fish in the tank. The question I have is if some of the egg clusters fall in the water can I leave it there? I know that the eggs will drown but can it be used as a source of calcium for the others to feed on?

    Hi Rachel,
is there any special tips on asolene spixi eggs?
Noticed my first clutch today and have never had it happen before so any advice is much appreciated. :)

those I leave where they lie, as they are underwater. The yield of young is not as high with those. You could put them in a floating box, as availability to food for the hatched babies seems to be an issue.

      Thank you.
:) I'll see how they do in a separate tub or tank.
