2022 RAV 4 Prime owner here. This is a plug in HV. 42 miles on electric and 38-40+ MPG just on gas when battery is depleted. The beauty of plug in hybrids is that there is no electric range anxiety involved. When the battery run out the gas engine kicks in and you continue on your journey. Right now with a full tank of gas and a full battery we have 45 miles of electric range and 559 miles of gas range thats over 600 miles. Also on short trips you use just electric, but on hybrids you still have to use the gas engine and fuel economy on a cold engine is quite low until it warms up.
Question on that note- once your electric range is over and the car runs as a normal HEV i.e. switching between ICE and EV, do you get back any electric range from the regenerative braking? or you need to recharge the full battery to use all electric again?
@@iamtopgun Yes, When braking and decending on a hill The battery will charge. Some hills I gain as much as 2 or 3 miles of electric range when running in hybrid mode.
