I was just a kid when I first heard Melanie on the radio. That was in the south of France. I couldn’t understand a word of English then but I fell in love with Melanie ‘s voice. I am so sorry she left us physically, but her songs will live on forever. I am now 66 years old and still listening to them at Raza Organic Farm in Punjab. Melanie was indeed a beautiful soul.
OH MY GOD...NEVER heard this before....always loved the song....but Melanie is such an individual artist...she makes every song song she ever records totally hers!!!!! BIG LOVE LOVE LOVE FOR POSTING!!!!! RA!!!!!! BRING ON THE RAINBOW!!!!!!
The most individual vocal inflection; I'd be able to tell Melanie's voice apart from anyone else's. She writes the most wonderful music and lyrics but I really enjoy her cover tunes because she makes everything her own. Fan since 1973 (I was 12)
Vincent 1973 I was 18, met my wife of my youth and an LRY Conference in Toronto Canada September 1,1973 and haven’t seen my wife since I met her, long story but foolish Games and Enter from the East are about me and my biological daughter who was raised 4,447 miles away from me oh well 😔
Fan since 1970. I was 12. Yeah, I must admit, I would love to hear Jessi Colter cover this one, but then we would have a conflict of interests. Let it be so...
Yes! Well said! That's the perfect description for Melanie's voice! Her voice inflection. Unique! Almost with every song first note sung, and I think "Oh! That's Melanie"! Rest in Peace beautiful angel.
I will never forget hearing Judith Durham singing this song live, an Angel in a Cathedral. Melanie has a different take on this wonderful song and I love it.
@@holmsatlarge I had the privilege of seeing Juice Newton in concert in 1996. She, and her manager, Otha Young, penned one of the songs that made Karen Carpenter famous. Because of her contract with the BTO's, she was never allowed to record it. But she kicks ass, as does Melanie. Sometimes cover acts are a diamond in the rough. (pun intended)
Judith Durham from the Seekers had one of the most pure voices of her generation. It would be so hard to cover this song and not pale in comparison. Yet Melanie makes this song her own and gives it an entirely different emotional register.
Yes, I grew up listening to Judith sing this song. But .... Melanie ... different class. Melanie Safka is like Dylan, Nelson Mandela and Ché Guevara. World changers. Look what they done to my song, Ma will be played at my funeral. What a way to go! Melanie may never get the credit she deserves during her lifetime. But trust me ... her voice and art will outlive Trump and his ilk .... Scottish Phil.
Is she still alive? First girl i ever fell in love with. She was everything a young guy wanted. Sweet, gentle,, and the most beautiful eyes. Guess i do still love her. .. ...
Yeah Russell, Melanie is still alive and touring. She is in Europe just now. She will be appearing on Later With Jools Holland on his New Years Eve Show 2019. Melanie is also appearing at the Aldwych Theatre, London on Feb 9 2020 in case you are in the UK and would like to see her 'live'
kinda has a Mary Travers sound to it. a different tempo to this song. quite different from the Same up beat tempo. almost reminds me of JP Morgan from back in the 70's
Enjoy it for what it is, another artist's interpretation of a very beautiful message. I like them both, especially right now as I look at my bride of 42 years.

RIP sweet lady with the sweetest voice 😢. There will never be another you.
This my all-time favorite song, and I never wanted to hear it sung by anyone but The Seekers… but I love Melanie’s version, newly found. RIP.
Melanie and her songs have been in my heart since the early 70's... so thankful she was there ..
Beautiful voice, like no other ever.

MELANIE FOREVER! THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER MELANIE NO ONE WITH SO MUCH FEELING!
Did she wrote this song??
Written by Tom Springfield
When she covers a song she makes it hers .

R.I.P PETER
Did someone leave this earth?
Melanie's husband Peter died
How sad to hear her husband passed away.
so very sorry to hear that Melanie 😢
My bird-song
Ouch!
Is that her husband ?

This version was never released but Melanie did another version which is slightly different to this.
God she was pretty, pity it doesn't last.
First the looks go then the person
I know I’ll never find anybody ! Dats a fackt
Lovely song about a newly castrated ram lamenting that he would never find another EWE.
that's alright God for Me
I prefer the Seekers superior version. I don't like songs "slowed down".
That's what makes the world go round. Every one of us has an opinion. I happen to also love the Seekers.
Enjoy it for what it is, another artist's interpretation of a very beautiful message. I like them both, especially right now as I look at my bride of 42 years.
The band The Seeks made a better version of this music.
HORRIBLE
Why so angry ?
