I have said it before and I make no apology for saying it again. This lady Judith Durham as a singer is a sublime artiste comparable to any of history’s greatest talents.
What an exquisite and enduring timeless love song sung and played by Judith Durham. After nearly 50 years of performing, she will be long remembered as one of the greatest vocalists
About a month before my mother died unexpectedly (she was only 50) she sent me this song and said it was her favourite song growing up. She also sent me the version by Francois Hardy. There are two versions she said, both are beautiful, but you pick which one. I had no idea that a few weeks later I would be picking which version we would play at her funeral. I chose this one
You brought me to tears with your comments. I am so sorry to hear about your Mum and being a Judith Durham fan for so many years you chose the right one for Mum. I was in Australia for 4 months this year and wanted to visit her grave but she has not been placed there yet . I would love to pay my respects and Thank her for the Joy she has given me in my life. May God Bless Her❤ RIP
Rest in peace, Judith. An angelic voice has been taken from us. Thank you for all the wonderful music and memories! The world is a much colder place without you!
Yes I agree. Therapeutic. Angelic voice. I could listen to her sing over and over again. Have been listening to The Seekers since the 60s and still very fond of their songs. Thanks for posting.
Yes, all of her music...not just what she did with The Seekers. Her work in traditional jazz and blues was landmark and easily stands shoulder to shoulder with the best in the business at any time!
Just needed you all to know that this isn't live. It's there original song set onto the video. I have only found one live version of this but not on UA-cam. Still the world's best female singer by far. Rip Judith. I miss you
One of Francoise Hardy's greatest songs, written in 1964 as 'Dans le monde entier' when she was only 20. While the English lyric was created by Julian More, Francoise thought of the title in English. One of the great puzzles of life is why the Seekers never sang 'All over the World' in any filmed concert. This is the only available film of Judith Durham singing it, and by herself without the band.
The video is of Durham singing by herself, but the audio is the original studio version, complete with strings and the rest of the Seekers' backup vocals (for instance at 0:30).
@@nightchef57 Thank you very much for this information ! It does sound too perfect for a live performance. So there is no recorded live performance of 'All over the World' by Judith solo, The Seekers, or indeed Francoise herself, anywhere..... Even the video of Francoise's original, 'Dans le monde entier' is mimed (called 'playback' in French).
I have listened carefully again to the two UA-cam films of Judith Durham performing 'All over the World' at the Royal Festival Hall in 2003. This soundtrack is overlaid from the recording and is not Judith's live voice. As Brian Middleton wrote in 2020, it has Seekers back-up vocals. But the other film on UA-cam has I believe Judith's voice live. See this link: ua-cam.com/video/FxkEqRq0CVk/v-deo.html The accompaniment is more limited and there is only her solo voice. That means that thet other UA-cam film is the only film of of Judith singing 'All over the World' live, now that she has sadly died aged 79 (August 2022).,
Even though this is"fake", with Judith's 1966 recording dubbed in, it's beautiful to watch her perform this, bearing in mind she wasn't actually faking at the time, and the audience could hear the real version. I wish we were able to hear it, even though the recording is utterly exquisite. Not a word a Rock'n'Roll fan like me normally uses.
When I recently turned 76, I rediscovered Judith Durham and the Seekers to my great delight. I love this enlightening, exquisite love song sung so perfectly and played so peacefully by Judith. She will be remembered as one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. I pray she is now along side that great big Star!!
@@robertlindenmann6631 you can also hear it as she actually performed it here, on the Judith Durham and the Seekers channel. Hard to tell them apart, but the record has less vibrato, from a younger Judith, it seems to me. But don't ask me to pick a favourite.
As Brian Middleton explains below, answering a post of mine, the sound here is the recording made in 1965 and heard everywhere. What Judith sounded like when she sang, in the Royal Festival Hall in London, only those who were there can say. There remains no filmed live-sung performance of 'All over the World' anywhere - by either Francoise Hardy or Judith Durham.
There's inevitably some discussion in these comments as to the "best" version of this song. My take is, both are great for different reasons. I would say it's possible to mistake Francoise's Frenchness and exoticness for emotion. Having heard some of her other music, I'd say that this is an attempt to be a bit more commercial, and I'm guessing it's not the song she's most proud of, but it's the one we've all heard of. When she sings in English, her accent and attempt at pronunciation is captivating, when it's in French she's so Continental and exotic I nearly pass out. But Judith is still fabulous, and I wouldn't compare the two performances. To suggest that Judith doesn't feel the song-I believe that woman has felt intense emotions her whole life, that one is a non-starter in my opinion.
The audio is definitely the original recording, so we're not hearing whatever sounds she's making in the video. Of course she may well have been singing and playing the piano simultaneously on the original too. It's a gorgeous performance no matter how you slice it.
m.ua-cam.com/video/FxkEqRq0CVk/v-deo.html This is the video of this song with the actual sound from the Royal Festival Hall London 2003, not with the original overlay. And of course it still sounds utterly beautiful - it’s Judith!
She sings very well, pitch-perfect and clear, but there is little emotion in her voice. Technically exceptional, but no feeling behind, sorry. I prefer Françoise Hardy version by far.
Funny how people hear differently. To my ear her pitch, while basically fine, is not always perfect--she's slightly under in a lot of places--but it's the emotion in the performance, the lost-child pathos, that carries it.
Not meaning to offend anyone here! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and preferences. I like Francoise Hardy but respectfully, in my opinion and taste, I think Judith sings this one better! Easy solution, listen to the ones you like and avoid those you don't care for.
Her voice is beautiful, but there is no feeling, no emotion. Francois Hardy sang it much better, in my opinion, as she put emotion in it, they way it's meant to be sung.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I think this is better than Francois Hardy any day. To me it sounds like Hardy is trying too hard to make it sound dramatic. And also, for a lot of folks it is who you heard singing it the first time. To each their own!
I have said it before and I make no apology for saying it again. This lady Judith Durham as a singer is a sublime artiste comparable to any of history’s greatest talents.
I agree 100%❤️❤️❤️❤️She passed on August 5,2022
such a sweet voice I like them singing gospel as well as the other songs and the ring of that 12 string Guitar.
The only song I could play today after hearing Judith passed away today. Thank you Judith!
Da bin ich ganz bei dir, dieser 5.August war auch für mich der traurigste Tag des Jahres.
What an exquisite and enduring timeless love song sung and played by Judith Durham. After nearly 50 years of performing, she will be long remembered as one of the greatest vocalists
All over the world tonight hearts are broken and sad at her passing. A beautiful voice and soul have left us
Amazing the Seekers never had her play the piano also. She was super precious & enlightened my life.
But they did.
Of course they did
Started out on the piano but says she decided she didn’t want to put in the time needed.
Incredible voice. No one to match Judith these days.
Or ever😊
Oh, my God, this is hauntingly Beautiful.
We’ve lost an angel.
It is Really
What a wonderful role model this lady is. Many other performers should take note!

Judith’s voice speaks to the soul. How nice to hear her play the piano while singing as well.
Beautiful person, beautiful voice, song beautifully sung.
Great lady!
There maybe over seven billion people on this planet but there is only one Judith Durham.
judith you took alot of pain away from the world with your lovely voice and your spiritual music too
Since the 1960s I have alway been in love with this beautiful woman with her perfect pure voice. she is still wonderful. Gorgeous
My favorite Seekers song. One of the two greatest love songs of all time. Judith Durham RIP
Some say Judith's voice is therapeutic. Just listening to this awsome song, I can believe that!
I listen to her version of "The Lord's Prayer" sometimes before sleep.
That voice, my god that voice. So very beautiful in tone. Like a bell.
That bell has puzzled me for years: it's as if she has built-in reverb. I could listen to it for hours (and often have).
Her voice is exceptional Angelic and soothing to my ears. So good.
When an amazing song and amazing singer combine.
The best voice ever heard on this planet, will never be bettered.
There are people who sing with the perfect pitch. Above that there is Judith Durham.
Here here Terry. Well said
Stunningly brilliant as ever. Well done Judith. We love you.
Simply amazing
Rest in peace, Judith. An angelic voice has been taken from us. Thank you for all the wonderful music and memories! The world is a much colder place without you!
Everything about her was beautiful. One in a million. RIP Judith.
A pleasure to see and listen to this legendary singer once again. I have never tired of listening to her work and never will
Been listening to her for well over fifty years now. Still as beautiful as ever.
nice to see Judith playing the piano and singing so beautifully
This is a truly magical performance by this wonderful singer. Everything she's ever done has been top class but this one beats the lot.
I love this angel voice of judith durham here an never will i forget this loving angel too
What beautiful voice. Beautiful song.
Reminds me of someone long ago and far away...
Oh Judith, this is so beautiful. Love is everything to me.

what a wonderful voice she had, so sad to have lost her.
All Over the World is an incredible song. Originally by Francoise Hardy (French). Both singers are exceptional.

Magnetic. Help to keep this wonderful music alive. Pass it on to your grandchildren. It's too good to fade away in the future mists of time.

Yes that is so

Never thought I'd hear a version to match Francoise Hardy's but this more than does ...Thankyou Miss Durham ...Fantastic
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Voice of Angel hope they play this at my passing
I know it's too late now, but Judith, you were as beautiful in the 60s as you are today
I love watching her when she's reading music.
A favourite, originally by Francoise Hardy, and this is a beautiful rendition.
You should listen to Françoise Hardy French version le monde entier its very nice if you understand French
