great review under restrictions and thanks Si and GCN for brightening up these days with frequent videos - i have the previous TCR SL and love that the classic looks have remained and even better in the more natural carbon paint look (didn't love the gloss paint jobs on the last model). hard to imagine it can be a better ride so i can't wait for the ride review ;)
@@keming222 sorry, but you're incorrect. Try plugging in a couple numbers and see what happens. If previously, stiffness =10 and weight =5, then s/w=2. If now weight is 4, then s/w=2.5. Except si said s/w has remained the same. So for s/w=2, but w=4, stiffness must equal only 8, which is < 10

I'll have to wait and buy a six year old secondhand one, same as I've done with a 2012 advanced sl isp model. Been riding it for a year, fantastic bike. I've got 3 tcr's now.
I really like that Giant has taken a more practical approach to areo. I am no pro rider and the integrated areo cockpits put me in positions that I don't want to be in on a bike. Also, accounting for someone who brings water on their rides? genius.
I fell in love with the TCRs the moment I layed eyes on the original shiny metallic blue version with Mike Burrow's aero' seat post and I've now had 4 over the years! My last one was 2014 model, I loved it so I would love this one with the ISP! They look awesome! Altho' I would stick to callipers brakes to save the grams.
Giant TCR has always been my dream bike. Recently bought a 2021 TCR Advanced Pro 2 compact and man it’s awesome! Definitely not as high grade from the one on this video but still super fun to ride. Swapped the carbon wheels I had on my CAAD12 to the Giant and boom! I am satisfied for years to come.
I have a 2014 SL0 Di2 and for me at a blink this new rendition looks the same , which I think is great for keeping its pedigree alive. Its a beauty and the Cadex wheels look awesome too,. Well done Giant , not sure about robots, we have loved the expression 'hand built',for many years but as Si's observation are correct, we do end up with a lighter bike.
Thanks for the TCR tour, Si. New build technologies sound like a game changer for the industry ... hmm, prices coming down in a few years (dollar-for-dollar) I hope after they recoup costs and the hype dies down. By that time, they'll probably have working graphene prototypes with inlaid universal electrical wiring, who knows. All I can say is, I've suspected many consumer industries, such as cars, for example, strategically save improvements for next year while planning obsolescence so they can keep sales numbers high - and can you blame them? Yes, and no, I suppose. The old expression about what's good for the goose is good for the gander is fine with me, but sometimes, I don't think the goose doesn't even dream about bike rides because they're too busy banking and flying around in their corporate/private jets. Anyway, I'm hoping quality control goes way up with these new construction methods so we don't have Hambini complaining about impossible tolerances leading to inevitable problems and blame shifting onto bearing and component manufacturers. You know, I kind of miss the old days when companies like Campy and Shimano focused on high quality materials and refined production methods for smooth operation and durability, and weren't so concerned with new tech to replace old tech. Guys: Make stuff that works without compromise so it's practically flawless, make it durable, make it light, and make it aero - and don't charge an arm and a leg for it! That's getting boring and annoying. Save that for the luxury car market or something else, please. Cyclists really appreciate high functionality and reliability, not just status and bling. Those who want the those things can still get car manufacturer collaborations (Colnago/Ferrari, and Bentley, Porsche , and Beamer bikes, for example) or limited editions for 15 grand plus. Just make an amazing stock TCR, for example, with lightweight, high quality wheels off the shelf for 3K and call it a day. You know it can be done profitably and people will love you for it. To keep profit margins high, go into AI program subscription performance monitoring/coaching, private tour/ride support travel packages, nutrition, or some other consumable industry, and let day-to-day riders purchase and keep one of your stock models running reliably and affordably for a decade plus with no concerns.
Don't forget everyone that giant offers their Composite Guarantee. They will quite literally replace your frame if you wreck it while riding it. I haven't seen any other companies that offer this for their frames which is why i'm buying a TCR. Being a new ish rider, it takes the fear off your mind of potentially decimating your bike while riding.
Lucky my 2016 TCR Pro-0 (rim brakes), with Dura-Ace-9000 & SLR-0 wheelset only cost £2500. A joy to ride & remodelled my riding--whilst I'm not quite racing weight, it helped resolve (+yoga) a long-term IT-Band injury, due to the fit. I just hope to get a good 10-years out of it as I did my last bike (Trek 5000).
Want what? They have not integrated the brake hoses to make if easier to travel with? Do i need to remind enyone about there (most impractical) seatpost? Clever thinking
