    Really great work and content.
You look to be very neat and you aren’t afraid to show your mistakes which obviously happen on every job.
As a builder I know how happy your builder would be having you on his sites.

As a tradie (painter/decorator) i can appreciate the attention to detail, been on a deep dive of your carpentry vids and you are definately not the usual cowboys i end up being on site with 😂 also up the Mitchy!

I'm having a house built right now. Seeing your attention to detail and willingness to fix things (strap only 20mm onto the stud, leveling the subfloor) makes me extremely worried the trades people on our site don't have the same level standards or ethics!

Hi Ryan, can you please explain a bit more about the 20mm strapping to stud? I missed that from Dave's video.

I’m not a chippie Ryan, but the strap only 20mm on the stud is not going to do bugger all for holding top plate etc down in upward extreme wind….I would think the strap coming down onto each side of the stud would need to be some where around 200-300mm with several nails in the strap holding it well fixed to the wall stud. Loving Daves channel here, and I too will be getting a new build going in a few months approx, so picking up some good info here to look out for…I’ll keep an eye out for any cowboy hats on site! 😂

Dave, I’ve been extremely impressed with your work since subscribing to your channel and as a British chippie in the process of emigrating to Australia feel like i’ll have to serve my apprenticeship again with how you build houses 😂 I personally feel your going at a good pace, the mistakes start to happen when your trying to go faster!

How different are the building styles? I’d love to see some houses from the UK being built.
      Cheers mate!

@@DaveDoesCarpentry so once the foundations are in we build up to dpc level with 9” block on flat, we then pour the concrete solum level to the 9” block (which should be level) then we fix down a 6x2 wall plate fixed every 600mm and we level the wall plate for the kit to sit on. Once the ground floor panels are up and plumb we fit another 6x2 round the perimeter called the ring binder this is for the first floor panels to sit on then a wall plate on top of first floor panels to take either trusses or a traditional cut pitched roof. The site I’m on is all 6x2 cls for the thermal u value of the property. We fit 150mm glass wool in the kit panels with 25mm kingspan sheets over that with 2x2 nailed to the panels to create a service void for pipes and cable’s before we plasterboard

Another great video Dave. You're like the halfback on every jobsite. Would hate to see how the job would go without you steering the ship :)

For Mitch to learn you need to start asking what he would do or what he thinks, otherwise he is just waiting for your instructions.

That strongback is more like what we used to call blocking i guess. Stops twist and spreads the point loads..... got to love how light those joists are don't you, makes life a lot easier compared to lvls and alike.

You in America? I watch the Perkins Bros in NC and they call them strongbacks too.

@@daniel.s8126I think everyone across the planet calls them strongbacks, he might be referring to traditional joists where you use blocking/noggins

Hey mate could we get an updated review on the obvious tool belt? I’ve been rocking a buckaroo for like six years now and I’ve been thinking the last few weeks of moving to the lighter alternatives. Would love some feedback on how it’s going after a few months of use because obviously it’s one of the cheapest on the market. And I know you’ve rocked a few competitors. Cheers
