  • This is days 11 and 12 of this framing series where I have been showing everything that we do as we build this frame.
    In this video, we finish laying the yellow tongue and james hardie flooring, and being to flick out for our walls. We briefly go over the flick out process and squaring walls. With the walls flicked out, I begun to cut in our wall plates as mitch started a pre cut for studs.
    We had the site shut down early on the 11th day so I ended up putting these two days into the one.

    You are a great chippy. I'm in the steel game. And I've never come across a chippy as accurate as you mate. Well done

    I think your one of thee most underrated Professional Carpenter Channels out here! I am in the states and finish custom work really starting to zero in on Cabinetry ( custom one offs super hard). However I want to know all aspects that support my trade and pick up different framing techniques from European, Australia, NZ, all hv good stuff! My Dad was a framing beast, I remember as a kid his Boss would say “ wow I can’t keep up”! I took a different path and now, late in life I am a contractor zeroing in on custom! Not furniture, thru I cut my teeth on that ? Bespoke Carpentry !
    I say all that to qualify my statement about your skills ! I encourage dig deep into customs your talent is there ! But I bet my right arm if you give up your tool time you will dwindle ! Don’t !

    Hey mate,
    I'm a Chippy by trade, but did it in Commercial. I love watching your videos. 🌞
    You & your team are guns!
    I do a lot of set outs too, so important, and so easy to get it wrong.
    Well done guys. 😊
    Great jobs.

    You're great referencing the plan so often. Phone screen seems a bit difficult to use as a reference, you could print the plans at A3 or an appropriate size for whatever you're building and laminate them. Hole punch and use a keyring coil to keep them together

      plans change with alarming frequency during the build, on the fly. It would be a full time job just to support the chippy on site with hard copy plans. Digital is the only way to keep up.

    Do you often do a floor without air for the sheets?

    Don't you need to use screws instead of nails to prevent noise?

    Hay mate how come you put so many 3 inch nails in your sheets ?

    • @Lone_Wolf1995
      @Lone_Wolf1995 3 місяці тому

      Rather put more nails/glue at the easy stage. Rather than later customer/builder complaining that the floor is squeaking which will be costly to repair.

      @@Lone_Wolf1995 mate putting nails in like that makes your floor squeek more over time the head starts popping up and creates a squeek.
      A screw has thread were they don't uplift like a nail.
      Should be putting 4 screws in every 450 centre on them yellow tongues brother

    • @Lone_Wolf1995
      @Lone_Wolf1995 3 місяці тому

      Of course screws are the way to go. But if I wasn't screwing I'll certainly add more nails

    • @Lncas6
      @Lncas6 3 місяці тому +1

      Best practice is to skew nails so they are less likely to pop up and squeek

      @@julianwalters1994 I always thought this too, but a nail takes 1 second and then he would need a collated screw gun with extension.
