When you're dropping your 808's in I'd recommend choosing the Quick Sampler Optimized. When you do it will automatically detect the what note the 808 or bass is playing and use that as the root note to spread across the keyboard. For instance if the 808 from Splice you want to use is a D# it will put it on the D# key and then spread it accordingly. If you use Quick Sampler Original it will place the D# 808 on C3 instead and you'll have to figure out the scale from there, causing a lot more work and headaches. In a perfect world all 808's would be tuned to C when you download them, but that's not the case unfortunately! Just a fast tip that will make a WORLD of difference I think! =)
Yeah, but what I don’t like it’s it trims the gaps and lowers the volume. Some of my basses have a slight gap that give the sound a bit of a swing and of course who doesn’t like a bit of overly loud distorted trap bass 😂
Either I'm a simpleton, or above seems like this is being overthought? I still rock my TR-808 (I've had since '86) but my preference is my TR-909. Full disclosure, I've never used a DAW before, so can't speak to whatever challenge it is you are wanting to solve. However, I know about synth bass but just get you a DFAM, or a 909 or Circuit...and you'll have full control over making whatever bass you want. First one below is Circuit, and the second is 909. I call it hood bass....just make it funky and get crackin' with it. Don't worry about this chord and that envelope and this computer blah blah. Like i said keep it funky and it'll come together. That''s my tip anyway. :;-) [Circuit] ua-cam.com/video/wTGAswPMGEk/v-deo.html [909] ua-cam.com/video/sO9Gh_TWocg/v-deo.html
I'm just learning Logic, former pro audio guy and I write in GarageBand so it's a natural progression - but it's still a big step, and your videos (which I just recently discovered) kick ass. You're a great teacher, really dig your take on this format. Thanks man!
Been using Maschine 2 for the last 6 years and as far as updates go, they have yet to do another overhaul of the main DAW towards something that can really compete with what's available today. Seeing this video makes me want to go back to Logic and learn the new system, so thank you.
The only bad thing about it, is that I had recently paid for several different plugins with some of these features... Now they done went and put all of em together and made it free. Kinda makes me wanna complain, but I can't, lol.
Imagine that it hasnt been so long ago that a sampler with a fraction of those features cost a small fortune. Today its free with a pro daw that anyone can afford. Its amazing that budget doesmt hold back a music maker. Thanks for another interesting video.
This is all new to me. I am a guitarist of over 35 years and eventhough, I have and still do music in all or pretty much all genre's. I feel, I am starting all over again. I play bass and teaching myself keyboard, plus , I picked up a drumkit. I am co-producing with a good friend of mine and it's a serious challenge , to write, this way. Using Logic is great . So much to learn and lots to do. I wasn't gonna upgrade to 10.5 but now I feel , it's a must. Thank you for this tutorial. Be well.
Stretching and going slower was always a problem like with old hardware samplers, but that sounded pretty good...I didn't know splice was that easy, gonna have to check that out!
Thank you for this!!!!!! Working with all DAWS right now. Got to get the best out of all of them. Your video made life easy to learn Logic Sampler functions for Hip Hop.....I wan't to send love your way for putting the time into making this video. Thank uuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Bolo! Optimized also puts it in the right key. So if the sample starts in B flat. It will come up as B flat. Someone probably already wrote that here though ;-)
Thanks for helping - I'm getting to grips on using new parts of Logic that I have not explored despite using it for over three years. This was a nice simple tutorial so I appreciate it!
I taught Logic Pro for years as a trainer for Apple but I’ve been out of practice the past couple of years. I’m so glad I stumbled on this video. I had no idea the sampler got souped up. Appreciate the info! Subbed 🤙🏾
I’ve used logic since 2001. Always loved it. Used to be a lot more expensive and not native when it was emagic…. Started getting really good between 7 and 8.
I am a beginner in music production and have watched several videos! This is the only one so far that not only made perfect sense but was EXTREMELY easy to follow. Thank you so much!!
Very first sentence, truth! I've been messing around in 10.5 for about 2-3 weeks now and it's blown my mind how much different it feels than when I started with Logic 9. Good info and tutorial, man. Subbed&Liked.
Yo I watch a lot of music tutorial/beat making videos, and I hardly ever leave a comment or a thank you, but I seriously gotta drop a thank you for this one Bolo! This tutorial has completely changed my mind about the Logic/Splice workflow and the way I produce. Subscribed!!!
Dude thank you so much for this, I feel kinda stupid because I was struggling to use it and felt like I was missing the old sampler until I saw this video...now I learn't two things in once video. That re-timing thing is beautiful, and that I was an idiot for not realising all I had to do was drag the sample onto the side of the track Thank you!
Game changer. Great demo. I just got the update today and have already seen the benefits. Some really useful tips you gave too. Thanks very much. Nice track by the way! :)
good tutorial I just got the pro logic upgrade as well. I mix and cut a lot of loops and mix them with my own original music and also upgraded my synthesizer to Komplete control.
I made my name in the S900/1000 days. I was so good at them. Then the DAWs turned up and I never really found a solution I liked too much. I suffered EXS24 for years utterly hating it. This new sampler is near perfect. Mind bogglingly good. Logic is my favourite piece of software now after decades of using it.
Dope tutorial bro! The new sampler paired with the new step sequencer are a potent combo. Love the way they implemented note repeat in the step sequencer as well.
thanks Bolo, i always learn something new. wish you could be doing this kind of tutorial every day. Please can you show us how to prepare your track outs before submitting to beatstars. thanks
I like the way you show how programs work in logic pro I've got 10.6.1 but they are the same as 10.5 Thxs again man I'm a singer songwriter and now I can do my own Tracks and.compose my songs in logic pro I will be getting slice
the UPDATE i was waiting for, i switched from logic to fl studio for making beats cause logic had to many obstacles to add a certain sound into a software instrument track, and in other stuff, with this update i might finally use logic for beats again
I always loved both tbh. I would say logic has better legacy plugins and stock sounds. Ableton always handled automation and sampling better this update I've been waiting for since logic 9 lmao.
@@southhour5241 yeah, logic's automation annoys me to no end, but ableton has no real mixer so that is a dealbreaker for me. tried it and then sold it. the ableton sampler is really good though. glad logic has something similar now.

I'm hoping they'll move the algorithm to iOS. I was legitimately surprised when I realized that ARM chips are better at digital processing than Intel chips. Fingers crossed. I do use Reslice on iOS which is quite similar to this sampler. Also, shoutout to you Bolo. Gonna grab splice because of you. (Was actually contemplating it, but it's easier to build my sample library off really good samples).
@Zoltan Bereznai You actually can control the pitch. When you open the app, there's a place that says pitch. You can then slide up or down based on how much pitch correction you want. 1cent is a semi tone, but you can get really precise. 1.36 for example.

I can built a beat like this in 30 seconds with Ultrabeat with soooo good samples... 🤷♂️
Máximo Borreguero García yea exactly “A Beat Like This “ Check my UA-cam: ProdByGmajor I don’t make beats like this.
I aint fuck wit logic just because of ultra beat...

I prefer ultrabeat IMO

"that's cool", "don’t trip", "that's dope" and moves on. great video, great info, great approach.
you just made it look simplier than anyone i've watched so far. Thank you man
truly a game changer, no need to go in exs and go on edit and put the sample and save and all that process.
This sampler is game changing for logic producers
Especially if Serato sampler was your other option
Your intro song hits hard. Respect on this video and your content. Big THANK YOU!

Thanks for reminding everyone, I did explain this in a later video. But yes it’s an awesome sampler 💪🏾
the ability to manipulate the chops and play them on the keyboard in real time like this is so clutch.
You could chop and play them with the ex24 before

I'm a ableton user but this really intrigues me, might give logic a try.
I'm a Ableton user too, and this is something Ableton already has. The simpler and the sampler does this and more.
