I adore Sam and Diane, so much so that this beautiful montage brings tears to my eyes. The current world is so horrible I can barely tolerate it. It will gradually get worse as technology steadily takes over. I long for the time in which CHEERS existed.
At times I really liked the way they played off from one another, but other times the way Diane just trailed off into her intellect I just groaned. There is something to two people being interested in each other on a show that just telegraphs the human condition, and makes us repeatedly reflect on being honest with ourselves about something we momentarily forgot but always knew was there. Maybe that's why shows crash when two people with that tension finally get together - the tension telegraphs more than the resolution of them getting together. Onscreen romances today just don't express the depth from the right places anymore.
my heart is broken! after 30 years I guess, I just know that diane and sam broke up!!!! silly isn't it? I watch my dvd season 6 and no more diane! I stop watch. I fell so sad. in my imagination they are marriage and have some children together till the end of the seasons! but I'm wrong! tottaly wrong! But after I checked in google, a few hours ago I knew that diane and sam characters won as best serial TV couple. I know Rebecca could not compare with Diana.
The role of Rebecca was created to replace Diane Chambers a female foil for Sam, but I don't think they really intended to have her to have the same relationship with Sam as Diane did. They had to give the character many other differences from Diane, which is why it worked.
The show was still great after Diane left in reality, its 2 different shows. Diane is much better than Rebecca but the show didn't need her to be on the same level. The show changed but it was still great
@@gary6754 I didn't watch the show religiously after Shelley Long left. Just curious, did Sam just return to being "Sammy" and not have any serious relationship during the remaining six years of the show?
They were the most heart wrenching of all the will they/won't they couples on TV
Always been my favorite couple. Thank you!

They never stopped loving eachother, it didn't matter that she was with Fraiser.
I love the last episide when she on tv and Norm tells Woody to tell Sam the love of his life was on tv

I always think that, out of the script of the show, Sam and Diane never could stay long time apart, so end up married and with his own family.
The role of Rebecca was created to replace Diane Chambers a female foil for Sam, but I don't think they really intended to have her to have the same relationship with Sam as Diane did. They had to give the character many other differences from Diane, which is why it worked.

3:15 can't blame Sam for one last attempt
why did she leave a show that was at top its game. I hope she can live on the residuals.
This is so cute!! Best Cheers video I've seen!! What episode is 5.03?
do you have any scenes from the last episode where Diane and Sam were on the plane?
No I don't
