For those who might try to defend Gi's actions in taking away Antonio's Morpher, I'd like to remind you that since Antonio built that Morpher himself, that means he has sole ownership and responsibility over it and Gi has absolutely no right to take it away from him.
All the other morphers held by the Samurai Rangers were passed down to them by their ancestors and family members all the way back to the original Samurai team, and since none of the previous Samurai Rangers are alive to train the current team, it's understandably up to Gi to do it and bear responsibility for the pace of their training and whether or not to deliver or withhold certain things from them.
However, he has no jurisdiction over Antonio.

JoshtheOverlander Exactly. See, this is why someone should be careful in adapting Sentai Seasons, with Shinkenger being a big example. Also, you should see Amit Bhaumik’s original plan for Samurai, and that was way better than the one we had now.

    • @ferchubenitez1995
      @ferchubenitez1995 4 роки тому +68

Problem basically is that tzachor adapts Sentai without the context. In shinkenger, Antonio's counterpart acted like a idiot who disrupted stuff with coming like a silly caricature of samurais, something mentor Ji's counterpart found insulting to the legacy. Also, in the Sentai, the gold Morpher was partially created using disks that belonged to the Shiba family. So it made sense that it was technically the Shiba house property and taking it away made sense even if it was harsh. Ji's counterpart came off as having good intentions but being TOO harsh.
Tzachor did not take any of the above context in account, so the scene lifted from the Sentai without the context took a very different meaning and made Ji looks like a piece of crap instead of a well-intentioned but really harsh mentor.
And before you blame writers, interviews with Megaforce cast and even one of the writers revealed this was also a problem in Megaforce: adapt 2 different Sentai seasons without the context, making a lot of the stuff make zero sense as a result and confusing viewers more often than not(the fact some episodes could have as much as 3 different Sentai episodes shoved in on terms of stock footage REALLY made for a tedious watch, at least samurai didn't try to cram so many episodes from Sentai at once despite being a really poorly made carbon copy of shinkenger).

I totally agree with your rant to Jii... in the American version. This was definitely one of the places where the straight translation of Shinkenger flopped, Japan kept the whole think about not accepting the Gold Ranger to JUST the samurai heritage (with some of Blue's misgivings being about how he doubted that Gold was even taking things seriously). Which is referencing the fact that thanks to Hideyoshi Toyotomi you had to be born into the samurai class. there was no moving up into it. And that's a historical fact that most Japanese people would know about like how we know the story of Washington crossing the Delaware. But here where they just utterly failed at trying to integrate samurai culture, it's just BAD!

His secret is WAY heavier in Shinkenger. Of course it's still "I'm not really the biological head of the Shiba clan" but the characters believed he was and they felt they needed to protect him at ALL costs even putting their lives at great risks more than once. Takeru's (the Red Shinkenger) lie was so heavy in a feudalistic system that he himself felt guilty that these people had to fight for him when he felt he never deserved it.
Shinkenger explores the concept of that lie in a great manner even having the characters calling Takeru "Tono-sama" (something in the lines of "Lord"). Their relationship was initially hierarchical but through character development turned out to become a great friendship with the characters even going as far as going against tradition sometimes (something VERY disrespectful that could even lead to the expulsion from the clan).
Seeing this HOPR it's clear that Shinkenger needed changes just like Thunderstorm did from it's original source. If you're not going balls deep with the traditional values and heavy cultural references that the show had in Japan it's just some guys fighting in a weird system for western audiences.

When I first watched “Room for One More”, I was a bit angrier with Jayden than with Mentor Ji.
It’s like Linkara said, Jayden put in a good word for Antonio at the start. We later find out that he encouraged him to become a samurai, giving him the Octo Zord, and telling Ji that he would stop his training if he tried to take it back. But in the present day, when Mentor Ji is the only thing standing between Antonio and his lifelong dream... Jayden sides with Ji. And when Jayden finally relents, you can see Ji nodding his head in the background.
Don’t get me wrong, Mentor Ji deserved the verbal lashing he got here. But if Jayden thinks _his_ word should outrank the efficiency of his _world-protecting job,_ then he’s not much better.

Honestly the interpretation that they all (except Antonio I suppose) have Japanese ancestry and their families followed the Nighlok to North America and over generations their ethnicities changed, but they kept the feudal Japanese lifestyles makes this more interesting and three dimensional. It would also mean that when Jayden said they had a choice it was just a platitude. He knew they would say yes because they were honor bound to do so and he really just said it to make them think he was giving them a choice. Which makes this all a lot more disturbing, but really explains a lot.

That rant on Gi taking Antonio's Morpher away was Golden...
To be honest, my biggest problem with it, comes from how easily the situation could've been improved; let's say that, instead of their elitist bullcrap about him not being a Samurai, trained from childhood, to be a Samurai Ranger...they actually focus on the REAL accomplishment that happened here...
The fact that Antonio built his Morpher and Manufactured his Gold Ranger Powers completely on his own. Sure, he "reverse engineered" them by studying the Octo-Zord, but how far could that realistically get him?
The way to justify Gi taking away his morpher, would be to have them worry that - because the Gold Ranger Powers were manufactured by technology instead of Symbol-Power - the Powers might be unstable, and could potentially short-out on Antonio during a fight, or even worse, suffer catastrophic failure, causing Antonio to be seriously injured. This could also harken back to season 2 when Tommy's Green Ranger powers would occasionally short-out.
Therefore, it would be a smart idea for Gi to take away the Morpher, just temporarily, to run diagnostics on it, to see if it actually is safe to use...
Because let's face it...Antonio is a Doofus, just like you said. He doesn't exactly come off as a Tech-Wizard as he's supposed to be. I don't think it's unfair to assume that the Morpher is really just held together with rubber-bands and paper-clips.
It would've been better than just taking away his Morpher, for seemingly no reason other than elitism!

0:37 That "family" thing is from the Sentai, and doesn't really translate very well. It was strictly a matter of caste/class difference that's a part of old Japanese culture.
Samurai were Japan's warrior-nobility caste, and the Shinkengers were all descended from them. Shinken Gold, on the other hand, was a sushi chef and a descendant of commoners, so having him in the samurai team was a no-no. Shinkenger was essentially a samurai drama set in the modern day, so it's another one of those strictly-Japanese things that doesn't translate well into another culture.
So yeah, Mentor Ji does come off as a self-righteous douche, but it does have grounds in the Sentai. In Shinkenger, the Jii character WAS a butler/caretaker, but he did still sanction their training because he had experience and served under the previous Shinkengers, so he knew exactly which direction to point them. He does the exact same thing to Shinken Gold (bar him from the team, take his morpher, etc), but that's because he was a strict traditionalist at the beginning of the series.

Aside from that, the Red Ranger, Jayden's equivalent, also tried to bar him from the team both to keep his childhood friend away from danger, and to keep up his illusion of aloofness and invincibility. He let him back into the team once the others convinced him to let his guard down once in a while.

"Antonio, you can't be a Ranger without formal training."
Depends on how Power Rangers Samurai as an organization operates, Master Ji is right on this part. Sure he self taught himself to sufficient level, but he still has to go through formal training in order to be accepted. If Batman suddenly wants to join the GCPD, he would have to go through police academy. Of course he will get top marks and maybe graduate quickly, but he still has to go through it first.

    • @xgray2012
      @xgray2012 8 років тому +17

+Thinh Nguyen Actually, if you'd seen Shinkenger, the sentai that this series is adapting from, the situation with recruiting the Gold Ranger was entirely different. In Shinkenger, Takeru/Shinken Red didn't want his friend, Genta/Shinken Gold to be a part of the team because he didn't want his childhood friend getting involved because of the fact that he was never born with the Mojikara powers in him and the fact that Genta's actions were wreckless and that it could almost get him and the other Shinkengers killed in battle. That's why he didn't want to make Genta a sixth member of the team. Here!!! It's just Mentor Jii being an asshole for no damn reason because Jonthan Tzachor wanted to make Power Rangers be more like the Sentai when in reality...it really shouldn't, nor did it need to at all.
Plus, we've seen Antonio in action and he clearly knows what he's getting himself into. So...in a way, yeah!!! *Mentor Jii is a dick!!!* This is why Haim Saban should've brought back Judd Lynn to write for Samurai back when he got the rights back from Disney, instead of Tzachor since unlike Tzachor, Lynn prefers to bring in more original ideas and stories for Power Rangers over "copy-and-paste" everything from the Sentai.

10:57 Uh..... Harmonium? Seriously? I've heard the term before, wasn't quite sure what it was, but after looking it up.... it is NOTHING even remotely RESEMBLING a shamisen. It has keys like a small piano, in fact. I can understand not calling it what it is, the shamisen isn't very widely known outside of Japan, but using an almost as obscure instrument that doesn't even come close in design is just silly.
If the kids don't know what a shamisen is, they're probably not likely to know what a freaking harmonium is either. So teaching them the correct term isn't going to kill them. If you really want to keep any Japanese culture away from this show (about Samurai, mind), then call it a guitar, a lute, a mandolin, SOMETHING THAT AT LEAST HAS THE SAME BASIC SHAPE. Where the hell does "harmonium" come from?

The "you're not from a samurai family therefore you can't be a Power Ranger" reasoning epically falls apart when you consider that LITERALLY EVERY OTHER TEAM ISN'T MADE OF SAMURAI, with the exception of Cam from Ninja Storm, and even his status is questionable. And said teams, INCLUDING SEVERAL WITH HIGHLY-PUBLICIZED IDENTITIES, are canon. I'm actually surprised Linkara didn't just shove Lightspeed Rescue up their faces!
In fact, I wonder what BULK would've said about it since he knew the identities of at least some of the first few Rangers. I'd imagine he'd piss off; after all, most of the Zordon era Rangers were high schoolers with no exceptional heritage whatsoever. He'd be so insulted at the suggestion that those people weren't really Rangers by the Samurai's definition. I want to see him haul their asses to Reefside and have Tommy school them on what a Power Ranger really is by having him kick their asses- or better, by approving of Antonio over them as a Ranger right in front of them.

RJ denying Dominic Ranger status made sense, if the entire team says they don’t want Dominic to fight with them, and he almost got a civilian killed, then it’s too dangerous to send him out with a morpher and fight.
Same reason why Kruger’s actions made sense. He took away Jack’s morpher after the entire team unanimously said they didn’t trust Jack to be their leader. That’s a very dangerous thing from a tactical standpoint and understandable. As for the Dino Thunder rangers, given what we learn about the blue Dino Thunder ranger at the end of the episode, Kruger ordering them to stay put makes sense as if ANYTHING happens to one of them, they could Marty Mclfly the future away!

This is actually one of the very few things in Samurai that was vastly different in the Sentai. The Gold Ranger wanted to be a samurai, but he didn't have Mojikara in his bloodline like the others did, so he went off and invented a means of emulating it through technology. The one who rejected him was actually the Red Ranger, because he was afraid having his old friend around would make him look weak. His whole character is built around trying to present himself as invincible, and accepting having someone around who's known him from his childhood is a major step in his character growth of dropping his pretense and opening himself up.

+Couch Almark Uh-huh!!! See?! That's exactly one of the reasons why I was so disappointed with Samurai/Super Samurai being this "direct-translation" of the Sentai, instead of actually being an original series for Power Rangers. And probably the main reasons why I'm starting to become more of a fan for some of the Disney-era Power Rangers shows than I am of this series and Megaforce/Super Megaforce under the "Neo Saban-era" because unlike Samurai/Super Samurai and Megaforce/Super Megaforce, the Disney-era knows exactly how to bring in originality into Power Rangers without having to rely so heavily on being a "copying-and-pasting" of the Sentai.

Wah Tek Lim Yeah!!! I mean, sure the Disney-era didn't have the same range of epic moments and fighting style qualities as the classic Saban-era did. And yes, Disney had been constantly screwing with the Power Rangers from 2003-2011 because the company didn't even like the franchise because of the amount of violence that were seen in every series, up-to-Wild Force from behind-the-scenes at that time. But at the very least....they didn't have to rely on so much materials being adapted from the Sentai, they were trying to come up with their own original ideas while figuring out which episodes from their respective Sentai counterparts should be adapted into a Power Rangers episode. So, the way I see it, the Disney-era of Power Rangers is as equally as good as any other series from the classic Saban-era and perhaps Haim Saban, himself should've just respected that era for what it was, instead of being such a dick about it because of his petty grudge against the company for screwing with one of his "properties". *Pff!* What an asshole!!

    • @xgray2012
      @xgray2012 8 років тому

Wah Tek Lim Actually for Jarrod and Camille, they're kind of the polar opposites of Rio and Mele from Gekiranger. You see, Rio, in Gekiranger, is kind of like Darth Vader from the original Star Wars trilogy and Mele is like the sentai version of Harley Quinn from the Batman franchise. Where as with Jarrod/Dai Shi...he's kind of like Anakin Skywalker's character from Star Wars Episode III: "Revenge of the Sith" meets King Piccolo from the "King Piccolo" saga of Dragonball. And Camille?! Well, she's nothing like Mele. But, in a way, she's kind of like the Baroness from the original G.I. Joe cartoons, minus the interchangeable accents. Now for Necrolai?! Yeah, there's really no comparisons between her and the character of Vancuria from Magiranger. It's just that for Vancuria...she pretty much wanna cause chaos and mayhem just for fun because as the Vampire Queen, she's bored out of her immortal lifestyle. Hence why she can split herself into two people known as Nai and Mea, most of the times. Necrolai, to me....is just wasted potential. She could've been as equally as good as Vancuria, but nope!!! The writers clearly don't know what they wanted to do with this character at all.
Which leads us to Imperious....Meemy in Magiranger is kind of like Jafar from "Aladdin", but he's got more of a mummified "Tim Curry"-vibe in his character. Imperious is yet another example of wasted potential, to me because, I would definitely loved to see him as like the next Deviot from Lost Galaxy where he's like the "Starscream" of Mystic Force. But again....he got the shaft much like his predecessors, Furio and Trecheron from Lost Galaxy did.
Now, I don't know who "Motor" is, but I think you mean, Morticon or Moltor, right?! And Venjix?! No....I don't see how he's anywhere near of a copy of Yogoshimecritein from Go-Onger, since he didn't make an appearance until the final episodes of Go-Onter. And plus Venjix is nothing like Hiramekimedas since he's like Yogostein's vice minister in Go-Onger. Venjix is basically an eviler version of Hal-9,000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey and a more twisted version of Ultron from the Marvel universe and Skynet from the Terminator franchise.

    To Linkara:
I understand where you're coming from with your rant, I really do. But I would like to respond to it, and a few more points.
The real problem is that Power Rangers and Samurai are two almost opposite concepts. Just look at the Power Rangers: Power Rangers SPD: the two-parter SWAT is very explicit that the Rangers are all about being a team. Hell, let's look back to Tommy - or Dr. O, as he's called in that season by his fellow Rangers - in Dino Thunder: 'As long as you work together and remember you're a team'. Samurai were all about single combat. Fighting 5 on 1 is considered dishonourable. Power Rangers, especially in Time Force, is about free will. Samurai, however, aren't Samurai because they're expert swordsmen or know a moral code. They're Samurai because they just are. In Deadliest Warrior - which admittedly isn't the most accurate of sources, but I like to think they just lack competence and don't outright lie to us - a descendant of a Samurai Clan said: "The only way to enter the Samurai class was to be born into it, and the only way to leave was to die." (I don't know why he bothered to say 'class', because he went on to define a CASTE, which is what the Samurai actually were. Could be just a mistranslation, could be because he felt 'caste' would have a bad ring to it. Anyway...) It's painful when Bulk says: 'I'm going to train you to become a Samurai.' No. Just... no. You don't BECOME a Samurai. Kevin's right, Antonio is no true Samurai. Sorry, you may or may not like that concept, but that's how it worked. Like Antonio, I would love to be a Samurai, they've always intruigued me. And I can become an expert with the katana and the yumi bow, I can learn the moral code, but I can't become a Samurai. Why? Because that's not what I am. I wasn't born into it.
About none of the Rangers being Japanese: the same explanation you gave Jayden can go for the others. What I think happened is this: the Japanese Isolation ended and the Shiba Daimyo back in those days or his heir married a Western noblewoman who came to Japan. He also sent 4 Samurai out to discover the wide world and the 5 families kept in touch. Hell, Mia's family may even have kept the blood pure. She looks pretty Asian to me, who's to say she's not Japanese? About Kevin, I've been thinking even further (it's not intended to be racist, I just remembered the Japanese Isolation ended not that long before the Civil War). I like to think his ancestor came to a State which would later join the CSA and entered a plantage. There, he saw a slave girl being abused. Being a noble Samurai, he saved her and they hooked up. Hell, it'd be cool to speculate: a Samurai and/or a Power Ranger fighting in the Civil War. But that's taking it unnecessarily far.
Let me give you credit, though: After Dino Thunder with Kira saying: 'It's called honour. I thought you ninjas knew all about it', I'm just glad when people know the difference between ninjas and Samurai.

Another take I came across is, instead of Gi’s reason for taking Antonio’s Morpher being a lack of formal training, having the reason be due to the fact that Antonio created the Morpher himself, meaning his Ranger Powers could be unstable, causing his powers to short out during battle and cause Antonio harm.

If anything, Antonio earned it more than any of the "real" Samurai Rangers. He found his Zord, created his own Morpher, developed his own fighting style, all without the pressure of familial obligations being shoved onto him as a child unlike all the others.

My theory for that adaptation is that Justin, the Blue Turbo Ranger, now grown up, experimented with the spare Turbo morphers and the Zeo Crystal, practically combining them, making the two Turbo morphers into five, later six NEW morphers that form into the new team. Don’t know if Justin could a superfluous mentor or something, but maybe, just maybe, the thoughts of combining powers could be a great improvement and a great consequence.
Or not, since Linkara loved Zeo as a kid and hated Turbo as same kid. So, if this series does end up getting adapted, he’ll get mixed signals?

Shinkenger works because it is a samurai drama pretending to a Sentai series. Lines about Gold's heritage makes more sense if you consider that there was a caste system. In the Japanese, the line was akin to "This looks like the work of an artisan and not a samurai." If you know Japanese history, artisans and merchants were at the bottom of the caste. Also, Ji taking away the morpher makes more sense since the morpher was made using Shiba family disks and therefore Shiba family property.

    • @Roler42
      @Roler42 Рік тому +3

Not to mention, the biggest reason Genta gets rejected in Shinkenger (and they made sure to tell him upfront) is that taking the role of a retainer for the Shiba clan also means he has to put his life on the line, and as much as he is excited and willing to join it would still be on them if he, an inexperienced fighter, died in the line of duty.
Something Genta gets sad about but actually accepts, also because his morpher is not downright taken away, Genta just leaves it there, sad but resigned with Jii's choice.
Which is a far cry from American Jii just going "nope, you can't have this" and Antonio freaking out the way he did...

In the sentai, doukoku locked himself in just so he could focus on not imploding as his power is severely amped during summer (not sure why summer specifically, though its likely due to japanese mythology for the gedoushu) so somehow tzachor or some guy trying to localize the sentai failed to realize and got it conpletely wrong.

In the Sentai, Dayu and Deker's backstories are completely separate, but they do end up sort of bonding over their equally tragic pasts, and Xandred (Ugh, Dokoku is so much more fitting) had no hand on said pasts whatsoever. Dayu turned into a monster for *revenge*, that's what made her lose her humanity. I find that works a lot better as opposed to what Samurai gave us. It overly simplifies the characters by needlessly connecting their pasts and turning said past into a cookie cutter star crossed love story we've seen a thousand times.

ill give some shinkenger context here since they did try to do a translation on samurai for some reason.
in shinkenger a secret wasn't explicitly told, the reason juzo (decker's sentai counterpart) noted that takeru (jaden's sentai counterpart) was way too willing to die, which was something that even accounting a samurai mindset was too weird which is what made takeru warped.
in samurai, decker notes his warrior spirit and not giving up the sealing symbol till the bitter end which frankly doesn't make sense in terms of being warped because being the head shiba and not giving the symbol power is the logical thing to do.
Also that episode where antonio rescues jaden is the same episode in the sentai where the black box is complete, it is also the debut of their super form. so while it does make an interesting change in timing, it does turn jarring when they have to fight the same monster 3 times with the footage being extremely obvious they repeated things.
this was actually why the xandred continuity error happened
Fprgot to add. But it is stated and shown that takeru had a childhood even without genta. He was taken to the amusement park and wet himself when he went into a haunted house. It also is what gave him a hounted house phobia that would be followed later on.

Coming back to this tetralogy after a year, and after having watched Shinkenger in most of its entirety (I probably missed a few specials, and guest appearances in other series, but I did watch all the way from the first episode to the last).
In my personal opinion, Power Rangers Samurai is ironically the best gateway for Power Ranger fans to get into Super Sentai, because they can watch Shinkenger AFTER Samurai and say “Oh! So THAT’S what they were trying to do.” I’m not a die hard Sentai fan, mind you. I’ve watch all of Shinkenger, and a little bit of Goseiger, and there’s some Kamen Rider I want to check out, so I’m fine admitting to be a casual enjoyer.
Again, in my opinion, all of the things that were mishandled in Samurai, for all the reasons they might have been mishandled, are not problems in Shinkenger. Even Jii taking away Genta’s Sushi Changer, which is played more for comedy than drama, works for me.

Not to defend Ji's actions, but as far as bringing Antonio into the fight, I can understand having some concerns. First of all, that bit about Antonio not having "proper" training does actually having some meaning to it. See, historically speaking, those who managed to found martial arts schools that taught samurai how to fight were usually those who had fought in actual combat with the techniques they teach. Ergo, they are techniques that work for keeping you alive in a battle. And considering the Samurai Rangers are going up against eldritch monsters from the netherworld, it would make sense that the techniques passsed down to the Samurai Rangers were developed over time to help keep them alive against the Nighlock. Antonio, being self taught and using a similar but still vastly different set of abilities in battle, would not have the same level of combat experience nor test of his abilities that the other Samurai Rangers have with their abilities. That's not to say Antonio isn't one hell of a fighter in his own right, just that the techniques used by the other Samurai Rangers are more combat tested than his. It would be like somebody in the modern day coming up to a government with a super advanced piece of weaponry and asking their soldiers to trust their lives to it, but then it might have some technical issues that can screw the soldiers over in the battlefield.
That still doesn't excuse Ji taking Antonio's morpher, but it's just a thought I've had since listening to this rant a few times now

This series really just cant reconcile being set in America while being so deeply tied to Japanese culture and sense of familal duty and responsibility. The rant at the start is so incredibly valid and the idea of mentor ji taking the morpher in japan would make TOTAL sense, because being a samurai is so deeply entrenched into the principles of bushido and a rigourous training regime. A home taught ranger would be unacceptable and a formal sensei would have authority over who can and cant be a samurai. Without the tradtional ideals of familial duty the whole plot just falls short

If I was Mentor Ji, I will accept that I messed up and allow breaks between training, even the occasional movie night.
They are samurai, but at the end of the day, they are teenagers with some big boots to fill.

Alright, as somebody who's actually seen Shinkenger, I can explain a lot of the issues with the Gold Ranger. He was...to put it lightly, a bit of a goof. While he meant well, the group had misgivings that he wasn't taking the duties of a Samurai seriously. Couple that with the very feudalistic beliefs a lot of the characters showcase (namely, that you couldn't move into the Samurai caste, you were born into it) and those misgivings were understandable. Then, Gold shows up dressed as what is basically a parody of a Samurai, complete with oversized Hakama pants. He then revealed that he was given the disc for the Octozord by Takeru without permission. So when the old man ultimately rejects his bid to join the team, it comes off less as being elitist assholes, and more a harsh but fair critique of what he'd shown so far. Also, him taking back the Octozord came off more as taking back a piece of property that had been given away without the owner's knowledge. Not as him being a dick.

Here is something that makes Mentor Ji even worse for me.
If you go back to SPD, it's up to Krueger who gets which morpher. And Sky wants, more than anything else in the world, to be the Red Ranger. But Krueger decides to assign him the color blue. If you think about it, many people would consider blue the opposite of red. This means Krueger is basically telling Sky that he is as far away from being the red ranger as possible in his position. And constantly reminds him of that fact every time he morphs. Which is basically Krueger's way of literally putting Sky in his place. He humiliates him but in a way that forces him to think about why he is not the red ranger and, in the long run, adds to Sky learning of humility and how to be a bit humbler. It's a neat little detail that shows what kind of Mentor Krueger is. He thinks before he acts, is deliberate in his choices, and carefully watches his rangers.
Ji does none of that, however. He does not show Antonio why it is not ready, does not question his ingenuity or fighting abilities, and makes not the slightest effort to see where his standing with the team is, what he could add to it, or if his dreams are achievable. He does not give a rats ass about the rangers, the team, or Antonio in particular. If Mentor Ji had led SPD, B-Squad would have been fired in the first episode and Grum would have won.
Hell if Ji would have led SPD, at best he had given Sky the Red Ranger Position right away because "Who gives a damn about character development or team dynamics, he trained for this".
    What an idiot.
