Hi, the moisture in the charts is a byproduct of burning the fuel. Higher setting = more moisture. Nice hidden install though. I have a Leaf and love having the heating timer dry and warm the car every day! Take care M.
Awesome install. I did similar in my car, but I put my heater where you put your fuel tank and used my cars diesel tank. Next car is going to be a gas one, i guess I'll test if it runs on gas (im thinking a fuel damper and a petrol rated pump might work), if not ill find a spot for diesel. Its so good during winter mornings walking to a hot defrosted car. Or I could get an Webasto hydronic, but it's minimum 500+ for an used kit and then still id have to make up something to turn on the climate fan (ipcu relay, expensive though). Also need to set climate on max temp. A diesel heater uses much less electricity than a heater+pump+blower also, meaning short city runs would be ok on a small car battery. If you want long range control you can get a GSM or 4G gate opener relay box thingy (was 15$ for me on AliExpress) and solder two wires to the power on button. A quick shortcut to a text message and off it goes. Wonder if it would be smart to plumb the heating air intake outside, for better air quality.
@@Moes_Adventures Ok, found some time while installing the quieter green pump and put some petrol through it. So It does start and push some heat, albeit a bit pulsatey exhaust when warming up and with a much deeper throatier noise once upto speed. Could feel the vibrations of the burn in my seat. But once it reaches its internal set point where it starts to throttle the pump speed to the set heat level set it will flame out in some minutes. Tried on gear 3/6 (default speed), 1/6 (min) and 6/6 (max), all same. Can hear the burn stop and that's it, it doesn't work. No mixture adjustments on my controller either. Was a nice time trying it though, I think I will order a cheap Chinese coolant heater next, they advertise both gas and diesel in one unit and a warm blast of air once car is started sound good also.
Awesome job! With any custom job there are always shoulda woulda coulda. But the point is is the job done, is it reasonably safe, is it going to perform as intended. This meets all of those. It’s also a good idea to have that vent blowing towards the front like you mentioned. Also if you ever do happen to car camp if that’s your style and your sleeping in the back. It won’t be blowing on you while you try to snooze. Good thinking! Keep up the good videos and the great work!
Thank you very much. It has worked exceptionally well throughout the winter when I used it. Ill be testing it with kerosene this winter when it gets to extreme temperatures again.
@@Moes_Adventures You know that would be an interesting video. Seeing what types of fuel and or mixture you can get this thing to burn, old used cooking oil (filtered of course). Any old engine oil. Ect ect. Whatever you can’t find or make for cheap would be pretty cool.
@@Notsoshadyacres. yes I will try that for sure. I have seen a few other videos where people have tried something like this with little success. I suspect the mixture needs to be different. So I am planning a little denial and error session to see what I can come up with 😁
I have a same year car so this was cool to see! Not to many rav4 overland diy videos. I was planning on taking out my back row seats completely and building a bed and storage platform so to see the heater in the car gave me some ideas. Question. How much would this be a drain on your car battery. And does this model work well for high altitude?

I am unsure if using gasoline will work or not. I suspect not. It is definitely nice in the winter months!! Especially if a guy does some car camping.

Ive used the green hose for 6 years now...... Zero issues 😎

Yes it was. This was last December, it worked great all winter except for -40°C temperatures the diesel has a hard time igniting.
Have you tried using kerosene in the winter extreme temps. Lighter fuel, easier to ignite. Just a thought 😎👍@@Moes_Adventures

10-15amp is a decent but to pull that length

It did the first time I turned it on. When the sealant was fresh. it’s been fine ever since.
