I believe Kathryn is the best M-S to emerge for many years. She reminds me of Kathleen Ferrier and like her possesses a voice which is rich, fluid and expressive. What a prospect!
I was just thinking that too!! She reminds me of her, in the best sense : not the extra vowels she adds, but for the generosity, character, grace, the pleasure of depth with such astounding legato. AND she reminds me of one of the mezzos I cherish most, Anne Sophie von Otter. :) But all these comparisons aside, Kathryn Rudge, I wish that you may be an artistic force this world so desperately needs, to bring into this world this gentle peace we hear, a voice of generosity and love xox
No offense, i am not judging anyone's taste but she sounds much better than Renée Flemming. She is not so maneered and her legato treats like velvet that comes from inside. Just simply more musical. May the pleasure be mine to sing with you some times, Kathryn.

She will face the same course of voice as Flemming as her singing is aspirated and with a high larynx you can do only so much
A classic Irish folk song done beautifully...!!!
This song is from the opera MARTHA by Friedrich Von Flotow

Great to see these clips on your new channel, Kathryn! Do you have any more from RNCM days? (La Clemenza di Tito or Marriage of Figaro perhaps?)
Is this at Royal Northern College of Music?
