Zoro and Sanji's actors did the majority of their own stunts. I think I heard that Sanji did all of his own and Zoro did all but one.
Also heard Taz put in roughly 16hours a day training for it

Moreover, if you write a Story and then go over it again after sometime you get to see a lot of places to improve or enhance. But once a chapter is issued. You can't do anything right.
@@junkpowI was thinking something similar, like if Oda would take a look back at the first seasons and see what he could have done differently to improve certain storylines so maybe the East blue live action is a visual point of how Oda May have decided to do it if he did today.
i agree with her, compharing LA to anime is kinda unfair mostly because they dont have enough time. And i am happy as long as they do the important seanes like the zoro fight.

I don’t think you realised that Mihawk literally killed Don frieg, don’t expect the plot to be the exact the same in the live action.
It was kinda weird how somehow Don Krieg managed to escape Mihawk after their confrontation in the Manga/Anime and arrive at the restaurant starving after leaving in the Gran line.
Oda said it is imposible to do 1:1, so he understands that there will be changes, what the directors, editors, script writers did will always go to Oda and decide whether it's appropriate or not...i watched the interviews of one director and editor of the series from Screen Rant youtube page and wow, they loved the source material..
And they are following the manga not the anime...
There were definitely things that oda didn't want in the live action from what I read there were a couple of things they had to really try and convince oda to add in the live action but oda probably understood that the manga will always be its own thing

I can't say enough how good the casting is. Mihawk's introduction was just so epic, but I think what made this episode was Emily's acting this episode. She was great.
Mihawk was following Don Kriegs last ship after soloing his fleet. Don Krieg arrived at the restaurant first starving and Mihawk later arrived.
Zoro vs Mihawk fight was pretty good

When you realize that all the cities and sceneries like the Baratie were built from scratch you enjoy and love this show even more because you can see the love they put to bring One Piece to real life
Whenever something changes media platforms, I have to consider it as an alternate universe story. The anime changed things from the Manga and added a lot of lore through filler episodes. The Live action is just another retelling of the story through a different medium, in a different universe. That way I can enjoy all the similarities (and nostalgia), as well as the differences, for what they are.
Zoro should have bled a lot more than just a gash tbh. I never really had a feeling that he was going to die because there was hardly any blood. The mihawk introduction was a massive W tho. Usopp, Mihawk, Nami, Buggy and Zoro are probably my top 5 castings right now.
yeah seriously, they weren't afraid to show, in this LA series, the previous Mr 7 sliced in half, torso falling to the ground with a sickening sound effect of meaty impact, but in this episode, they couldn't spray the deck with a quart of fake blood or some shit to show the effect of Mihawk's strike? He held back just barely enough in the anime to not kill him, I recall, so he avoided vital organs, but definitely left a critical wound on him with such a massive sword. Some ups and downs with this adaptation, obviously you can't translate everything 1:1 in a series like this, Oda said that himself about this series. Still pretty enjoyable watch though
Yeah, the lack of bleeding was probably the biggest thing that got me. Would it really have been too much to add a bit more blood around him?
I think it was intentional, Mihawk cut him just deep enough to leave a scar, but not deep enough to kill him.
The melodramatic amount of blood only really works for anime/manga and for live action if you're doing a tarantino style aesthetic but here I guess they preferred not too I didn't mind it honestly still got the message across for new viewers
Been a hell of a long time since you've seen it but the map Nami had showed Reverse Mountain, which connects all 4 seas and brings them into the Grand Line.
Running theory is that Reverse mountain will be destroyed which will make the All Blue
The actor Sanji is a red belt in TaeKwanDo just as Zoro has real sword training mixed with what he learned during the filmimg. They made the best choices on casting

At first i didn't know how to feel about all the big changes like I thought it was weird they never introduced Zoro's bounty hunter friends Yosaku and Johnny that called him big bro but I think the changes are growing on me and Mihawks actor and introduction was crazy, Also idk why but i really liked the actor for Fullbody (the pink hair marine) even though he got 5 seconds of screen time, But overall i still like Usopp the most
Shanks thing w buggy was already explained when we meet buggy in the anime !! He did say they were on the same pirate ship as kids .. they nvr said whose pirate ship that was 😅 they were arguing abt which pole is the coldest north or south !!
Didn't we also knew early in the manga that Buggy and Shank were on the same crew but we didn't know who's until much later ? or am I trippin lol
I just finished watching the last episode yesterday & loved the entire Season. I was worried that it would be difficult for Netflix to adapt 60 half hour anime episodes into just 8 hour long live action episodes, but this is definitely 1 of the best anime adaptations ever, & it does the manga & anime proud.
I would say that OPLA is more streamlined in storytelling with all its changes. Oda started the series as a teen and certainly has a much more solid vision of where he wants all the pertinent parts of the series to be now compared to back then. At least, the OPLA shows it with how it highlights and foreshadows certain elements that the manga/anime didn't in their earlier days.

Fun Fact, Sanji's actor Taz trained with pro chefs, and actually did all the cooking you see Sanji do in the show. He also trained Muay Tai, Capoeira, and Breakdancing for months to be able to do his own stunts in the show. The passion this cast has really shines.
Fun fact zoro was in a live action in Japan as in roroni kenshin! In the last movie as kenshin final fight!!!! He's such amazing actor! No wonder why they call him back into live actions!

True, I think Mihawk casually decimating him in one go better showcases that the warlords are super powerhouses compared to basically anyone else.
Zoro technically doesnt lose again when it comes to his dream meaning he doesnt lose to another Swordsman, da only person after this who can even say they would have beat him is Kuma, Big Mom and Kaido and those were more so all out Brawls not one on one fights

Manga/Anime: Don Krieg runs into Mihawk in the Grand Line, and gets destroyed. He survives, running away eventually to Baratie, after Ghin gets fed and leads them there, where he and his remaining crew fights Luffy and the cooks. Mihawk simply followed him. They bumped up the Garp/Coby stuff from Water 7.
I love that nami didn't left, shows how much she cares now for the crew. In anime she didn't stayed. I think Oda wants to improve some certain things or story line but he can't anymore because he already published the manga long time ago. But instead, he puts it in here. Because somehow, the changes still connects with their story lines.
I also love Zoro's introduction. They showed his fight with Mr. 7, also the reason why he's tied up in the yard. I super love Mihawk's introduction too, they did a great job.
I just appreciate all their efforts for making this show. I will definitely miss the whole cast. It's sad that it's only 8 episodes😭

The straw hats with the exception of luffy, drink all the time in the anime/manga. They’ve had drinking contests before. Not to mention at whiskey peak.
The slight timeline changes and slight additions (the drinking game between zoro and nami was a great addition because it’s something they would actually do) are perfect.

u know, they actually did a great job bring one piece to the real life,.., and a little changes in the storylines like Garp introduction in the beginning and Mihawk as one of 7 warlords,,and Mr.7 that invites Zoro to join Baroque work.. And its really hard to make 40 episodes of Anime shorthen it into 8 episodes, i think they nailed it..
that maybe is for the ones who doesnt watch the anime, so non-anime watcher could understand the the story well just like us the anime watcher.. #sorry for my poor english👍👍👍

20:52 Zoro wasn't saying "we" as in the strawhats, he was making a promise to Luffy about himself. Essentially telling Luffy he'd never lose in a 1on1 fight ever again on his path to becoming the number 1 swordsman. Zoro hasn't lost a 1v1 fight since that declaration. Have the strawhats been defeated as a group? Sure. But that promise was about Zoro himself.
Oh my goooooooood.... just watch the first 45 epsiodes already, or the 2 hours special about East blue saga and stop assuming and "don't remembering". The should be the right story in your head and then, appreciation for the adaptation and how they do things in the Live action.
To be honest, if you really think about it, Don Krieg being there was totally unnecessary, I didn’t realized it neither until I watched these changes, because they were able to change that without altering anything of the story nor the feeling, its true that the feeling was stronger in the anime and the manga, but the feeling had nothing to do with Don Krieg being there, some people say that it was necessary to watch Sanji fight, but again, if you think about it, it wasn’t necessary neither, because we saw enough of him when the fishman arrived later on! Don Krieg was one of the changes that I liked how they adapted it, true, cannonly it changed, but is one of those changed that if you do it right it doesn’t matter because its actually better for the story. Another thing that this change allowed by doing it this way is the fact that we are able to see more of the relationship of the Marines with the Warlords, in the manga and anime that’s something that i always criticized, because what was the point to introduced them if we don’t see the Marines actually using them for anything (until marineford), this opened the gate to see that and see how it develops, which that relationship matters for the story than Don Krieg being there because he wasn’t used at all later in the anime and the manga, not even mentioned, he truly was not necessary for the plot of the story!
Don crieg is kinnda weakest story anime than kuro , buggy ,arlong they choose to cut don krieg to catch up the episode without destroying the source material is kinda good choice by them ,
Honestly loved the Mihawk fight , it just shows the difference between them and how little effort and time it took.

The Shanks and Buggy reveal did actually happen in the Buggy arc(Orange town arc). The anime even dedicated a whole episode showing some flashbacks of the 2 of them together and how Buggy got his devil fruit power

The director or whatever said he wanted to do logue town but they didn’t have the budget nor enough episodes To cover so they Just skipped it for season 1, they said they’ll cover it in season 2
The baratie is all practical all real. They actually built the ship. Little to no cgi used on it at all

I never watched the anime i finished the live action then started the anime the biggest difference is Luffy hes more confident, strong and cocky in the anime and gets more screen fight time even vs weaker people but the live action is a solid show but Luffy is like #5 fav for me in this but in the anime hes #1 after 7 episodes dudes funny as hell.

Netflix has not yet officially renewed the Season 2 of One Piece Netflix Live Action Series but the script is already "ready".
It could be ready to air between 12-18 months after strikes end.

Don't be afraid to speak your mind! I agree with your view on the Zoro vs Mihawk fight. I really enjoyed the live action take, but it was much better in the anime/manga imo. I wasn't really sold on Makenyu's acting for his crying scene. I love him overall as Zoro, but I was let down here for such an important and iconic scene. I wish he called Luffy "pirate King" like in the anime!

Zoro meant never lose a one on one sword fight, not any kind of fight, those that he lost were not 1 v 1 sword fight between swordsman... (kuma, kizaru etc.) besides those he won every sword fight he had...
Nami was kinda roasting Zoro in that kitchen scene, she's basically telling him if you face Mihawk... you're going to die and she was right he got folded.
the first time you see Garp in the anime is in Water 7, after they save Robin. Tthats also the next time you see Koby and Helmeppo.
no the first time you see garp in the anime is when he takes helmeppo and koby to marine headquarters then we also see them during the cover story that got animated of them actually training

Idk mihawk just showing up on a tiny boat like a badass and cutting a ship in half was my fav intro. I feel like this intro tries to show off his strength but he is supposed to be more mysterious. I also dont see him just willingly taking orders from the government like in the live action. he kinda just does whatever he wants. He isnt like a choreboy.
The way he offered his challenge to mihawk its definitely better than the anime and manga 👍👍👍

What we can notice that in this live-action there are less exploration compared to the original series.
More focused on "inside" than "outside" and so much conversation so for who know the original series could be a bit "slow" but for who is new its enjoyable but obviously they spent so much budgets that they had to adapt in some way many things.
But still and good adaptation for introducing new comers in the world of One Piece and we saw too many sh*t shows that this looks decent for that reason too.
I honestly feel like if they continue the Live Action show, they should keep doing what they did here: Adapt the important story relevant stuff, adjust the stuff that didn't feel 100% necessary like the Don Krieg fight in the anime, and make it a more focused/streamlined version of the story for people that care more about it than the exploration of each place and it's lore.
@@TheSpiralSpiderWeb100% agree. You can’t expect everything in the manga or anime which took YEARS to develop to be done in a couple hours. Things will have to be cut for story progression and time constraint’s. But as long as everything flow naturally and still be entertaining then that’s all that matters
I like it. The live action is good to explore the characters in a more human and grounded way, instead of the more cartoonish, goofball style. Not gritty but not brushing off anything. Sanji is better in the LA imo.

I feel the same, it was not bad but not like in the anime at all, they cut off important dialogue of Zoro and Mihawk about "death can be better", that's what in original source made Mihawk appreciate and spare Zoro, and why they made Mihawk Puss in Boots 🤣 He wasn't so mannered in the anime, like wtf. But of course it's not bad, but come on guys, let's be honest and critical

My friend and I were surprised they did that with the garp reveal so early, obviously oda OK it, I assume given netflix history they probably didn't want to leave it as a cliffhanger for this series, even though if the viewer was curious enough they can find out through anime info.
The script for Zoro's lines was tweaked slightly which I dislike but it was split into the next ep but honestly they still hit the main beats of the story but even the smallest change can completely impact how strong a scene can be actors killed it tho
I also thought that the jolly roger in the logo was from sanji, but from the peg leg I guess it's from zeff
Zoro at the level of a swiss army knife to Mihawk so I can't wait for that upgrade

NGL, the Sanji actor has the most natural acting among them. Like I get cringey sometimes over a couple of lines from each straw hats like Luffy's "king of pirates" or Zoro's throat cool voice, but none from him.

I agree the fight wasn't as emotional but the aftermath for sure was more serious than the anime, Nami reading for Zoro, Luffy genuinely worried and doubting himself over what would happen if Zoro dies, etc
I LOVE that the snails aint cgi that theyre actually real. Also everyone needs to quit comparing it to the anime. First thing its a MANGA adaptation not an anime one. Secondly its not the ANIME it is its own One Piece show. Just like the manga and anime are different.
It being only 8 episodes is what crippled them tbh. Alas that's the problem when you're trying to put 200 episodes worth of content into 8 episodes. This could have flowed so much better had it been at least 10.

I know some stuff is later in the anime, like Garps relation to Luffy, but I feel like they accurately adapted everything up to Arlong Park and if anything, made the story flow much better since it wasn't as slow as the anime and cut out alot of pointless moments like Don Kriegs fight with Luffy or that guy with the knuckle weapon.
Budget issues made them go down to 8 instead of 10. They really did do a good job though even if they had to rush some stuff
