    You have such a lovely presence ;) ... Please note that the trees that were destroyed during hurricane Charley were the Australian pines; which are non-native trees. Periwinkle is a groundcover that you see around in Sanibel.

    I enjoyed this as shelling on Sanibel has been on my bucket list for a long time.
    That said, there seems to be an ongoing issue with the bandwidth on your videos recently. I had to turn my TV volume all the way up to 58 to hear it at a normal level.

      Oh wow - thanks for letting me know. I always test it both on my computer and then using AirPlay my fiance and I watch it on our Sony TV. We're not having any issues but I wonder if anyone else is. Is the problem throughout the video or in specific spots? I did get a new microphone so maybe there are some settings I need to adjust. (Is it happening on the shorts as well?) Thank you for watching and providing valuable feedback.

    Do you love your daily thunderstorms in the summer in Florida? Sorry but summers in Florida suck because you have thunderstorms everyday in Florida in the summer. The lightning is terrifying in Florida. I never saw lightning so massive till experiencing it in Florida. The thunder is so intense and loud as well. Florida summers are the worst.
    People if you depend on public transportation in Florida because you can't afford the expensive car insurance in Florida then getting around is scary with worrying about thunderstorms and unbearable heat and humidity during the summer.
    The rich in Florida probably live in the north during the summer or have an indoor pool.

    • @TheMeganDaily
      @TheMeganDaily  Рік тому +1

      I grew up in Florida…I personally have experienced much worse storms and lightening in NYC…I’m sorry you experienced such a scary storm. It does rain around 3pm almost every single day in Florida year round, then it disappear and you get the sun again.
      We’re did you stay in Florida? I wouldn’t normally recommend public transportation in Florida, though TriRail and Palm Train are decent at least in Palm Beach County.
      Re: rich, it is not secret that New Yorkers tend to go to Florida in the winter then back to NYC in the summer. They are “snow birds.” That’s why Florida has an “season”’and “off-Season.”
      I know of very few Indoor pools in Florida, but yes a lot of Florida residents have access to a pool,‘whether in their yard or nearby.
      I’m sorry you had a negative experiences where DO you like to travel?

      @@TheMeganDaily wow, what bad timing with this video...nobody will be finding this useful, not for a long time...nothing much left to Sanibel now, most of it is destroyed .....those who stayed and still want to stay past Ian, are going to all be evacuated....too much resources would have to be put into it to get it going, the causeway totally wiped out, electricity, water, resources to ferry or fly in food/supplies is not logical.....florida reps are saying it will take about 2 years to rebuild the bridge , so it wouldn't make sense to divert money/resources for residents there anytime soon...I know that is hard to hear.... so all those holding firm will be ordered to evacuate....it remains to be seen how and when things will be in place to even think of rebuilding....js...

    Was trying to see what it looked like before Ian. I'm starting to notice throughout watching Ian is how "certain" people are literally living lavish while other "certain" people are living poor, minimum wage/slave wage for back breaking work for up to 10 hours a day. People can barely keep up with rent bills and children, trying to get help from the government but "certain" people are living in the lap of luxury??? This is NOT just coincidence.. Something fishy is going on and "certain" people know it.
    Sad.

    • @AMilo-qm4ed

      omg. Nothing fishy, and "certain"? people don't know it....Get real....Get an education, get a good job, make a career in the right line of work, and you won't have to make all those excuses...and save money, get married, get established, then have children (do it the RIGHT way)...a few rules to live by.... almost all these people worked for what they have...Im sure a couple % were given or inherited property by family, but that is a very minor %... quit the "woe is me" attitude...can't always be bailed out and just handed things on a silver platter..... PLAN..... js :)

      Yeah that is all over the U.S. not just here, this was the demolition of an island by mother nature. There has been a controlled demolition of the middle class going on for 2 years right in front of everyone's eyes that no one seems to want to see.

      My understanding is that Sanibel is indeed where many people have second and third homes, which are quite costly. That being said, to VACATION there, you can do it on all sorts of budgets. And the most important aspect, which I definitely focus on enough in this video, is that Sanibel is a wildlife refuge. It's also how to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Many of the super-rich who live on Sanibel are drawn to Sanibel because of its conservation efforts, and as a result, pour a lot of money towards preserving the unique and valuable ecosystem, which, in turn, creates jobs for scientists, conservationists, and environmentalists. It also draws in a lot of ethical/responsible travelers, which, as someone who works in the tourism industry, I certainly appreciate. I'm not really sure what is "fishy" about that. Apart from the conservation of a lot of marine life, which includes, fish.

    This whole video made me cringe, especially the level of ignorance with these people! Ohh finally the perfect hurricane "Ian". Can you now see what the problem might be? This should be a wake-up call, if not then i'm praying for an F5 hurricane to restore nature in how it should be looking like. I'm wondering whether the beautiful nature and marine life still is part of the ecosystem that you'd loved so much? Guess what woman, that lovely ecosystem is permanently damaged by all these toxic materials that hurricane Ian spread over the area. So people are the ignoring problem with all the coastal housing in places that should act as naturell barriers

    • @TheMeganDaily
      @TheMeganDaily  Рік тому +2

      It is clear you have never visited the J.N. Ding Darling Wildlife refuge, and are not actually familiar with the conservation efforts throughout that past century that have made the island so unique and important. I'm not sure how hurricanes are restoring anything to how it was "meant to be," especially when the strength of the hurricanes are very likely caused by global warming. Approximately every 40 years, Sanibel takes a signifcantly bad hurricane hit that can change the ecosystem of the island, possibly by destroying vegetation, birds nests, sea turtle nests, and even altering the shape of the island. Wildlife is resilient and will hopefully be o.k., but regardless of what you think about the humans, it's bizarre to me to hear anyone wishing a catastrophic event than can negatively impact nature and a wildlife refuge.
