  • How to find shells is a question I get a lot. In the summer, the winds change the the shells tend to hide a bit, so going in the water to find them is a very good idea. I wanted to try snorkeling and I brought my trusty sand flea scoop, so Captiva was the first stop and just across a small bridge is Sanibel, so I decided to try my luck over there too.
I will show you 3 different methods I used to find shells. Answering the question, how to find shells isn't always as straightforward as it may seem. Tides, winds, location and water conditions all play a factor.
I hope you learn a little and have a better idea how to scoop in order to find shells.

I found my first baby's ears this week at North Myrtle Beach. I was able to identify them because of your videos. I found around twenty. Thanks!!!

So many calico scallops! I just love them. I display mine in a glass bowl so that my granddaughter can rearrange them when she comes over. LOL.

I so appreciate the way you show all of us how to shell it can not be easy scooping and filming with one hand to bring us all with you . I really love “beach time” it so reminds me of when my family and I were there this past Thanksgiving. It was cool enough to shut off the a/c and open up the windows and fall asleep to the crashing of the waves. Cant wait till this year to be able to do it all again.

I have just discovered you a few days ago and have maybe watched half of your videos so far. I want to thank you and let you know how much you are helping me. This isn't meant to be a pity party but I am currently on the waiting list for a new organ and suffer from extreme fatigue. My days are spent dealing with doctors and lawyers and I have begun to start having small panic attacks just when I try to relax. Watching your videos of the beach and shelling are so relaxing and enjoyable they are almost like therapy. I don't have the ability to contribute to you on Patreon right now but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate you. I've always wanted to go to Sanibel and someday, after getting a transplant and regaining my strength, I plan to do just that but for right now I have your channel. So, again, thank you for allowing me to accompany you on your lovely outings.

I have done paragliding in Mexico. Was terrifying and after the fear left me, it was almost spiritual, loved it! You will enjoy gliding. I have learned to see a kitten paw, olive, turkey wings, angel wings etc. Thank your! I really like the pink petals. (I think that’s want you call them). Wrinkly fingers.. 😂 😂

I loved this week’s video! Sanibel & Captiva are the first places I ever went shelling at earlier this year. I miss it so much & hopefully can return soon. You can never have too many scallops or kitten paws. 😊

My favorite place to shell is Blind Pass. I had about the same luck you did. Lots of beautiful scallops. I’ll never complain tho about being on a beautiful beach and seeing the dolphins play. It’s amazing!! Thank you for the great video to remind me why I love visiting there so much. 🤗 🐚 🐚🐚🐚
