In 1930ies Latvia started constructing a railway from Tukums to Kuldīga. That would be a much more convenient way than the bus, to access it from Riga and... if the WWII hadn't put an end to the works.
Kuldīga - one of the most underrated cities in Europe. Great food, great culture, great people, great nature. Also very well connected to Western Europe via the ferries on the west coast.
