I actually drove many Golfs on the race track (Nürburgring), and I was kinda surprised how good the R32 performed in this video. It is a very top heavy car that is struggling with understeer problems. Also the ESP of the Golf 5th Generation is crap! You can't turn it off, and it makes three things on a race track: 1) it regulates (brakes) to early 2) it is overheating your brakes slowly 3) It does not like curbs (it brakes) And the AWD-System is just the variant with an Haldex clutch. What it does is this: If you are cruising around the only wheels which will be driven by the engine are those in the front. If the car is noticing that the front wheels are loosing traction, it connects the rear wheels to the powertrain. The result is: Very tricky handling on the race track. You have to loose traction to get traction back. Also the AWD adds more weight to the car. The AWD just gives you more traction at: 1) the start 2) when you have tight corners (Tsukuba might be the perfect race track for AWD cars) I was also confused because the Audi has the same engine, the same ESP and the same powertrain. My suspicion is that they managed to deactivate somehow the ESP of the Golf. So the Audi is showing us the real performance. By the way: The VR6 engine of the Golf is in Germany well known for having overheating issues if you drive the car fast. Volkswagen had messed up many things back than. They let Renault took over the trackday cars. But the 7th Gen Golf is finally good again. Nevertheless you get more "bang for bucks" with a Renault RS (Clio and Megane). And notice: The BMW needs a lock differential. If it had that, it would have drove away all the other cars in the field. Too bad that BMWs don't offers lock diffs after 1996, except for the M-cars (M2, M3, M4, M5). Even for the performance models like M235i you don't get a lock differential in your dealership. You are forced to the aftermarket.

just a example in a best motoring track battle the new 2015 Civic Type R beat the Megane Trophy R ... in a other car magazine test the Megane Trophy R (exactly the same car delivered by Renault) beat the shit out of the new Civic Type R.... and BTW this car magazine was over one second QUICKER with the Civic Type R than best motoring around Tsukuba (quality driver or willing driver) and the Megane still whopped the Type R ass.... the current lap record for production street legal cars at Tsukuba is not in the hand of Nismo GT-R or any other JDM that best motroing let always win... it is in the hand of the Porsche 991 GT3 RS... tested by a more serious car magazine
+nagmashot there goes my point. the dsg r32 missed shifted thats why it got passed so driver was really not to be blamed. serious magazines? i'd rather watch the video than read magazines with just pictures and does not show the real action. they will just write numbers, results and pictures but not the whole pictures.
im not saying honda is the best rather the way people like you think that a paricular car will always be the best car until its proven otherwise under a different testing or experiment. like for example people who watch too much top gear (which test cars in only 1 lap for a lap time) think that the results in that show will be the same with BMI which test cars in a race with several laps. so tires, weather, track temperature, break wear etc. will factor in the BMI test. that will yield to different result.
please don't use the megane and CTR as an example. we all know that the renault is twice the price but the performance is not that far.do search other videos (european test) not bmi ones and see how they match up
@@nagmashot I recall best motoring trying the megane trophy and the fk2 on the mountain track and the megane won. I recall seeing track videos like these where the foreign cars won. I know it's tempting to think they fix the races but then they at least make exceptions sometimes.
@@nagmashot, amazingly the Alfa missed a shift too! And only in Best Motoring.
@@Alkhoholic The other magazines do also videos of their time attack run and they are on youtube...welcome to search function... The Megane RS twice the price ? Megane RS start at ~34.000€ the Megane RS Tropy at 38.500€ a Civic Type R starts ~35.000€ and the Type R GT at ~38.000€ ... sounds for me equal
Seriously dude ur blabla only showes u have no clue at all
This race had me smiling all the way to the end gotta give props to that honda tho
The Honda machine dc5 is still the best fwd platform in the world , 2.0 NA 🤘🤘🤘🌻
yesss alfa 147 busso !!
so where are the haters ?? it's a fwd gna gna gna , too much power for the chassis gna gna gna
best lap with a stock gta selespeed in city mode.. put it in sport with a quaife and "buonanotte a tutti"!
alfa the best
Type R 🙏🏼
Ito noted the BMW's differential was not working. Actually 130i Sport does not come with LSD at all, which seems crazy for 190kW sporty hatch.
Yes, unfortunately BMW kept this nonsense until the F generation when they introduced the electronic LSD emulation. This utilises the ESP wheel speed sensors to break the spinning tire. Not great but it stops the madness of one tire fire.
Would it be way faster if that 130i has LSD?
@@f00kinglasrsights89 Around corners yeee
@@Slow.S55 You mean out of the corners. An LSD doesn't help you around the actual corner, just helps you get the power down coming out of it without spinning up the inside rear, which the 130i was doing on virtually every turn!
@@soundseeker63 I foolishly leased a more powerful 135i with an "electronic" LSD, which is a gimmick that applies braking to one wheel to simulate an LSD.
That post hardcore music in the intro was 🔥
everyone hating on the type r is hilarious honda have put incredible driver focus in all their cars especially type r's and they show for it by beating more expensive or "better" cars as many falsely believe. i strongly believe the type r is the strongest track focus car there and to me thats the most fun too. i dont care for luxurious cars like bmw or vw
You call a 1 series luxurious ?😂😂😂
Very nice race , from start to finish , all of them premium cars
The inside sound of the DC5 compared to the A3 ! 😂
dc5 is a great car!!
no..
@@dylanweise4802 yes..
Bob Robber My 130i would fucking walk that shit up a straight
@@dylanweise4802 how bout a corner? Would it still "fuck it up"?
Bob Robber Yup easy, specially mine with race rear toe and control arms, and coilovers with 265/45 rear wheels and 255/45 at the fronts..
Wow, im surprised the S204 set down that time, in a different league!
1st time I see a JDM-Spec RHD BMW, Audi, VW and Alfa Romeo
thanks miroshi!
Dc5 for life :):):):):) awesome video
The BMW driver had the most fun !
idk man the type r engine sounded way more fun to me and looked amazing fun to drive, but thats just my opinion
Yep inline 6 rwd
So I guess the 147 GTA is the winner of the battle ?
and it was in "city" gearbox mode
Wonder if it has the q2
@@wheresmycheese8511 no it doesn't
It’s faster than the Type-R
@@155stw on straight yes, it end on turn
130i driver was driving the hell out that shit✊🏾👽
Integra R is weak at straight, but king at corners
Yeah for those who say Hondas cant turn... lol we saw what their brands doing xD
Excellent battle, inte r pulled it off at the last second! The hatchies seem to lack at cornering and corner exit acceleration it would seem and thats kinda what track/sport cars excel at
Power_of_R Integra is tuned for the track specifically, it's very hard, stripped out, hardcore, etc. Golf, A3, 1 series and 147 are infinitely more luxurious, equipped, refined, comfortable, etc. They're the complete package, not just a track car. Besides, these were not really the best hot hatches...in fact...they didn't use the best hot hatches at all. This was an A3 not S3, Golf R was pretty bad back then, 130i is a regular model, 147 GTA was old as fuck. A Megane RS would have wiped the floor with this entire line up.
derbigpr500 This race was done way back in 2006. Any Megane back then would have been smashed by the Integra. S3 is too expensive to be considered as a competitor to the Integra, and the Integra especially the refreshed model in this video is very comfortable and soft.
derbigpr500 What the fuck?! Tuned for the track? Very hard, stripped out? Get your shit right.
Pao S because Type R.
+Himmel Weint Actually the fastest Megane in 2006 was an R26, and that thing went around Nurburgring in less than 8:20, that's far faster than any Honda FWD, and comparable to the NSX.
Awesome video Miroshi! You guys have a lot of fun...honto! I have a stock 05 Type S with intake, exhaust, Stage 3 clutch and coilovers, and it's a blast driving up and down the Idyllwild mountains. (I'm thinking about adding a turbo)
The inteR has noticeable better lines running in these curves than the hatchs.
Thanks for the SUB miroshi
VTEC just kicked in yoo 💨💨💨
Cool video thx for posting.

I would liked to see the 147 Gta with a Lsd diff, I guess the final result would had been much better.
Exacly my tought and manual transmission.
If it had a aftermarket suspension, semi slick tires and exhaust+ remap it would be very interesting

I’m envious of anyone who owns a dc5 type r I love my type S but i would love a type r
A JDM Type R maybe, but anywhere else in the world good luck getting your hands on that. The Type S was the final version of the Integra and they got the balance right IMHO. If I had to trade I would love a DC2 Type R but with no air-con? Summer is brutal in Australia, driving a car in 45°C heat with no air-con? I'll keep the Type S thanks 😉
@@DasGigPig I had a dc2 for 13 years , but you are damn right I made sure it had the air con option ! I Even had the 6 speaker stereo installed later but to be honest I wasted my time there as I could never really hear it! As a side note we have crap winters in the UK and when it was snowing or icy it was a death trap. Still get a Type R , after a few years in a BMW I am considering another one...
I have a turbo Type-S with a JDM LSD and Brembos
What about the mazdaspeed 3 or just regular Mazda 3 hatchback?... that would of been 🔥
Sounds like they had a blast on this one lol
that laugh as he overtakes on the final straight
130i needed better tyres and lsd!
The title gives away the end results lol
The bias on this show is strong
Amun TOO
Lol, butt hurt loser has to resort to youtube stalking, pathetic.
Amun TOO
Sure sure, Stalker.
Super_Slav haha you drive ur SR20 shitbox nissan on xbox ... hahah you still living with mommy and daddy.. poor kid is butt hurt when nissans get pwned.
Amun TOO
I do not drive a SR20, I currently drive an evo IV gsr, and by the way the SR20DET and 4G63 dominate track, you just cant face the facts. Top 10 time attack cars, only 1 is a honda the rest are all Silvia's and Evo's.
Super_Slav comparing stock cars to fully build time attack cars ..aahh yawn go back to ur xbox kid, mommy is calling.
Nice set up
The Integra is a track focused, lightweight car with absolutely no amenities or spec inside it for everyday use. All of the other cars are loaded up with kit, which adds weight but makes all of them better day to day. However the one car that is missing from this era (2006) is the Megane R26, and I'm pretty confident it would walk this.
Oh how the result would be different if the 130i had limited slip differential. Too bad it wasn't offered from the factory.
Alright, somebody is scared of Audi. It is so stupid that they didn't use rs3 or even s3 regardless the big displacement engine. Each division has different level of performance and a STOCK a3 is definitely a town car. It is a pathetic choice when at the same time, its opponents are r32 golf, integra type R and 130iM. Overall it is very disrespectful...at least they remembered quattro...
Integra DC5 4 life!!!! 💘💘💘💘💘 0:50 😏🔰❤
No, my 130i would fuck it up LOL, speically 0-100
@@dylanweise4802 The 0-100 is not everything my friend also the bmw has a 3-liter engine without turbo plus rear wheel drive instead the integra DC5 only has a 2-liter engine without turbo and Front wheel drive, The type-R is a better car for corners and track performance, the 130 is more comfortable but its a really nice car .
Dylan Weise your everywhere in comment section talking about how your 130i would beat the DC5. Lmao Jesus how insecure you must be to be spamming that everywhere.
Real life Gran Turismo. Neat.
Pretty sure I'm going to buy an BMW 130i after watching this. That guy is clearly not a racing driver (more HP but get's overtaken by a slower car) but it still looks awesome. Ages well too.
do it ;)
dude thats keiichi tsuchiya...
Some wider tyres and an LSD on the BMW would transform it on the track.
The 130i is 4 doors and sunroof. That weight affects the acceleration of the car.
The run flat tyres and open diff are shyte - 130i with LSD and proper tyres would have won
There are a billion things that affect weight and a billion things that affect overall performance. Its obsurd to claim that the 130i lost only because of 2 extra doors and a sunroof
@@averyvasquez8153 it's lost because of the driver. Japanese people don't know how to drive RWD properly 😉 cmon just look at the driving line and spinning wheels...
@@wojtek_sanitarnikBold claim there. Japanese people practically pioneered the best RWD techniques. A FWD and a RWD car will have different drivelines to accomidate the different characteristics of the vehicle's drivetrain layout. FWD and RWD utilize different parts of the corner more effectively than others resulting in different drivelines.
@@wojtek_sanitarnik its spinning wheels because of the lack of lsd. You do realize that the guy driving it used to be one of the fastest racers in japan? FR is his speciality.
Looking at the Time Attack though the R32 is a tough competitor for the Type R. But the R32 has an excellent reputation for its class and that year is AWD.
Yes .. R32 is the best among this group .. Great start, and sure it's faster than 130i .. the driver is unlucky 😢
that type R is light like a feather and race oriented ... no brake fade from lap to lap.
Could the 147 win if it were manual?
The 147 was possibly the most impressive performer. If it was the manual it would bem certanly even faster!
Yes, that miss shift from the selespeed really hurt it early on. With a manual and a Q2 LSD fitted it would have been quite a bit faster.
@@Jaredscott89 mhm, it could easily get 2nd place or maybe even 1st

Damn that RSX murdured everybody
integra
It’s always a blast to see type r go crazy I love it
Yes My Integra Dc5 Type R..
Integra won because it's lighter and better balanced. The other cars probably start overheating tires and brakes after a few laps and that's when the teggy shows it's strenght.
Nah because it's set up for track, the 130i is incredibly balanced as well, the stock set up is just not for track driving. A bit more camber and an LSD and it would rape the teggy
I still love the vw and bm 😍 just wana slap a dirty turbo on the r32 and watch it fly
