For me, some recent ones I’ve found are a really nice Buick Electra Park Avenue, a completely perfect museum quality 1987 Ford Thunderbird with absurdly low mileage, and a 1996 Chrysler LHS in nice shape! There are some local cars to me that I really want to see that I know about such as a purple Eagle vision TSi. There are quite a few cool cars in my area if you look hard enough
This needs to be a regular feature! YT keeps throwing me Effspot's videos but he only has eyes for big-buck exotics. BTW the yellow Chevy truck is a '55-57.
Ethan, It was a terrific idea to show us what we are missing on the streets of Southern California. The Hino-built Toyota T100 was a timely 9:06 highlight. The Ineos Quartermaster has just reintroduced America to the concept of a pickup truck with a flavorful 25% Chicken Tax 🐔🐓 and I believe the T100 was the last pickup sold with that Finger Lickin' Good levy added to the price. 😉😉Like many, I look forward to your upcoming Nova video. 🤩
The Dodge Caravan at 11:30 reminds me of the 1987 Dodge "Mini Ram" van that my family had when I was a kid. It was like a miniature version of the conversion vans with curtains in the windows, wire wheel covers and a two tone silver/black paint job. It was terrible. Always breaking down and blew the engine before 70,000 miles.
I like the PT Cruiser. The Camry, I remember being in awe seeing one in the 98-99 TRD catalog with BBS mesh wheels and four piece body kit. I've always really liked the Collector's Edition with the two tone paint job. The 80s Toyota Minivan, I would like one with a Mystery Machine inspired paint job 😅 The Chrysler Concorde reminds me of the Dodge Stratus that use to be practically everywhere in SoCal but now I can't remember the last time I saw one (along with the Neon). I think those were even used in the North American Touring Car Championship racing of some sort during the late 90s-early '00s (I remember one of them was a white car with red livery graphics). This was a fun video; thanks for the upload and sharing!
As someone who lives in northeast Ohio, where rust starts eating away at our rides its first winter, I love these videos and seeing these beautiful California rides! Thank you for sharing!
Love the LSC! If Lincoln made that exact car with current Mustang GT underpinnings, I'd buy one and I doubt I'd be alone. If nothing else, it'd add some much-needed excitement to their current snooze-fest lineup.
Wow, TWO Kia Spectras in one-afternoon bike ride. I owned a 2009 Kia Spectra SX so I have a soft spot for them. Mine was a 4-door sedan but I love the look of the wagon. Unfortunately, there weren't any at the dealer when I was car shopping. The Spectra was replaced by the Forte. I hope you do more car spotting videos. It's fascinating to see what turns up on the streets of Southern California.
I ran an internal blog 'street parked in Santa Monica' when I worked Porsche/Audi design adjacent. In addition to the various Lamborghinis, a 911 RS America and a Jag E-Type, one day an exec had a corporate-owned 959 flown in and they drove it around 28th street/Ocean Park in SM with Euro tags. They parked it on Ocean Park in front of the Porsche design building next to an E28 M5, a McLaren MP4-12C and a Porsche B32 (T3 Transporter w/911 running gear). So yeah, I'd gladly take any of those.
Whenever I go running I'm doing this EXACT same thing...Stopping to catch my breath while looking at cars that 95 percent of people wouldn't give a second glance to!
Some cool cars that you found. The SKylark: I've owned several of them in the form of 1994 in white and 1996 in jade. The 94 had the pointed front end, but the 96 was the last design. Both very good cars and nice driving.
Great video. I actually enjoyed doing the same thing just, driving around and looking in people's backyards to see what they have just left sitting. I spotted a first generation Ford probe just the other day only 3 miles from my house. I almost lost my mind when I saw it. I would enjoy seeing more videos like this, it was really fun. 😊👍
Nice. My favourite was that Lincoln luxury coupe. Always liked them. I have never seen one ( Euro guy) . Toyota T100. Not a truck guy but they are cool. The one in the video looked really well maintained. Love the Jag. And the Dodge Caravan nice historically important car. And that old 1980s Corolla. Now there is a car that would look awesome in Nardo Grey. Nardo Grey is all over the place here. But those boxy cars would most likely look better in it. IMO
Nice car spottings! 80's cars are my favourite, for example that 1985-87 Corolla sedan, used to be everyday sight here too, but not anymore. Yesterday saw a 90's Nissan Almera 3-door Hatchback, which reminded me it's a good while since I last saw one.
I used to do this on my around my subdivision when I was 12. It was a big place with a mix of condos, townhouses and single family homes. I’m sure people thought I was up to no good.I just liked looking at interesting cars.
I had one of those Camry. Ltd edition with two tone paint. Was able to drive from south seattle to Northern Sacramento area on one tank! 650miles! Down hill on Mt Shasta did it.
The GMT360 and the U Body vans are probably some of the most infamous examples of badge-engineering. You didn't just see two Ascenders, one of the was an LWB, sharing its body with the Evnoy XL/XUV and the TrailBlazer XL! Always cool to see!
You started this video with the NOVA twin-cam- a car that was just a REBADGED Toyota- with all Toyota made parts- and the previous owner didn’t drive it very much- so YOU ! Are a VERY PRACTICAL person! So I can see the CAR SPOTTING you’re going to do will be good! 😎👍 0:460:46
I own the Bill Blass edition of that Lincoln, the dashboard, seats, and carpeting are good condition. Some of them like mine have a digital instrument panel and some have analog gauges.
Hey, what’s up Ethan! Just wanna let you know that I purchased the seal skin car cover because I see that you have a bunch of them. You should do a video on the update on your seal covers and see how they all progressed overtime.
Car spotting is my favorite activity! I love driving around and finding cool cars that you just don’t see anymore. I like it so much that I make posts about the cars I find on Instagram. I do this mainly to share the cool cars I see with other people who also care about and love these old cars like I do!
This is probably the best way to car spot. Car spotting while driving definitely feels extremely sketchy. Feels like a drive-by is gonna happen. Just saying... nobody does that in my city because they don't wanna get shot. It's just best to mind your business and use your eyes. I'm a professional photographer and I wouldn't dare just take pictures or video of cars without asking the owner first. Even though it's legal it's just the respect factor. But on a bike isn't to much different but not obviously noticeable. And also, getting footage of a mustang swerving and a boring challenger and a Nissan gtr that I seen several times at Walmart from hotwheel packaging (and also the race track I go to locally) is not CAR spotting. I can literally go outside or turn on fast and the furious and I see those cars. It's not impressive anymore to me.
There was a 6 month period last year where there were two different Suzuki Equator pickups in my neighborhood. One of them was a work truck by used by someone who seemed to be working on one of the old mansions, but the other one was clearly somebody's pride and joy. It looked new. I doubt I saw two of them in the first five years they were new.
Wow, too weird. You have a milk-crate labeled Carnation. Here, were we live (about as far as you can get from SoCal and still be on The Continent), a very unique and long-standing canned milk, has the same name.
What interesting and unique cars have you spotted recently in your neighborhood? Which of these would you want, if any?
WOOOO I'AM THE FIRST ONE TO COMMENT
finaly i'am the first one to comment on a new video
Recently I saw my first Pontiac fiero in person on the highway

My 2005 Vibe is the only interesting car in my neighbourhood. 😉😉

Now I know where to go when I need a car to steal 🤑🤑

Fantastic video, Ethan! Please feel free to spend many more days out on your bike, looking for old, weird, forgotten cars! This is really interesting!

Ok, I think I will! Maybe next stop will be Hollywood :)
I had that exact Nova as my commuter car in the early 90s. More fun than it looked, tragically lost when it got rear ended by a truck and got totalled
😭😥

I had the hatchback version. It was a super usable car. A fantastic commuter with enough cargo space to pop away for a camping weekend.

10:54 those are everywhere in Germany. They sell more of those than CRVs (nobody buys them) and even RAV4s
I do the same thing, biking around Orange County, CA. You could see different interesting old cars every day.
Keep it going Ethan!

That is what that car is called. I just saw one 2 days ago and couldn't remember the name. It has the butterfly grille. Thanks

sniff, sur la vignette, il y avait un vw 181 "the things" .

That was a cool video. You earned a new subscriber

I have two friends who are roommates and drive a Toyota Mirai and a Nissan Cube. They have to be the only Mirai/Cube household in the world 😂
Ethan i love this show. Would you please consider doing the same thing in a ritzy neighborhood like beverly hills ??
Yeah for sure!!

When a bike with those fat tires comes up behind me I often times think it's something much bigger because of the tire noise.
Only in Los Angeles will you find two Isuzu Ascenders within a couple blocks of eachother
Great video 😂
I own the Bill Blass edition of that Lincoln, the dashboard, seats, and carpeting are good condition. Some of them like mine have a digital instrument panel and some have analog gauges.
great video! I love doing this too as a fellow enthusiast 😊
fun video to watch brother 👍
I did the same thing here in Orange County. But, mine are a photo collection on Flickr.
Isuzu Ascender: Like the Trailblazer and Envoy, had 2WD and 4WD, I6 and V8, and Long wheelbase / Short wheelbase
Nice 😊
fun content :)

Hey there! Yeah that's a good idea!
Fun Fact: All US Sold Volkswagen Things were made in Mexico Hecho En Mexico.
Still have my 1999 Chev Prizm.

More Georgia!
She's a good pup!

There might be a very high chance that gold Isuzu was my old car 😂
😮
Tell me the BMW i3 doesn't look like it has that exact Camry somehow trying to escape from the rear bumper!
Haha it does!!!!
@@HelloRoad It's something I will never be able to unsee! lol Hopefully you'll think of it and smile every time you roll up behind one now lol
@@StillthatguyJake It's hilarious! I never noticed it before!! 😆
