That Weapon Modding perk that lets you find additional ammo is kinda nice to have in the party tho'. Especially if you have an RPG user in your party, since you will always find at least two rockets instead of one when looting.
The way in wasteland 2 was intelligence and ARs. You have more options in this wasteland 3. But a lot of balancing is needed: the draw perk is an example, it should work with small arms only. Thanks for the video, i play in my own way but your knowledge about this and other deep RPGs helps us to enjoy our favorite games more and better. Thank you.
Funny note about your sniper. Having explosives as my second speciality was actually what I did on my first playthrough. I figured they could use an RPG when it would be more beneficial to use AoE instead of a single target with that character. Main issue though are the skill points. You need a good investment in Sneaky Shit for it it to be worthwhile, and Sneaky Shit also MUCH better on an Explosives user than it is a sniper since the sniper only gets one use out of it per fight, which is at the start, and only on a single enemy. Meanwhile, you can explode multiple enemies with an RPG, and the main target will almost always die. Problem is that getting Sneaky Shit up to at least 50%, Snipers up to rank 7 and Explosives up too takes a looooong time. You could use the Red Dragon rifle earlier, but the reason that rifle is even any good is because of Risky Shot (which is amazing). But, you still need to raise your rifle skill up on top of awareness AND having someone giving you the Leadership skill to make it worthwhile, or you will miss a lot. The rifle does not so good damage outside of that skill too. Most sniper rifles do mediocre damage compared to that skill until you get the energy based ones, and only against non-organics.
This is amazing but hang on a second… Are you telling me that you changed which skills you were building mid game, and were still effective in the end game? Because I’m currently thinking of restarting the game after putting in about 20 hours, so that I can properly spec out my squad. If I don’t have to do that, it would be a game changer, literally.

One thing i did for my rocket/explosives guy is take small arms to 7, which gets you the draw perk which makes it so reloading after a rocket shot, the next rocket is 0 ap. Very strong for opening fights where enemies are packed close to each other. For my brawler, i took my strength up only to 7 to wear exoskeleton armor and then dump my remaining points into luck, reason being since we attack for 1ap we often get quite a few lucky crits or lucky refund of ap for an attack, the lucky evade chance also helps keep them alive a decent amount. Shotguns are also OP with mods, when you can start getting shotguns that shoot 3 times in one attack, with range and cone width mods you can shred 6+ enemies at once (found a special scope for +9m to range but -5% to crit chance, very good scope).
I completely disagree on your sadomasochistic opinion. I got 4 on my team and just steam roll everything when I hit around lvl 20 in the beginning was very hard now its cake..
Why didn’t u include any animal companions? Animal companion gives huge buff such as the cat can increase crit chance by 12%. U only need one character to open the animal companion traits and the trait benefit the whole team for each animal owner. The animal are extremely good tank and dos too. For a team at lvl 20_25, the Tom cat and billy goat both have HP as 3400, and damage between 200-400 per hit. the bear has HP as 3900 and armor rating at 40. They are very tanky.
sniper rifles and explosives are not a great combo, small arms is much better extremly fast strike refill that can be used to get lots of rocket strikes out, sadomasochist and death wish are both good picks while death wish is the better choice early game sadomasochist becomes better in the late game, once you get enough AP to fire your sniper rifle twice per round sadomasochist will greatly outperform the death wish build, due to higher crits and overall damage.
On my SJ run I found that my sniper didn’t need much awareness at all, since hit chance from sniper skills were enough, and damage from high int + luck far out did the measly extra +base damage fro Awe. I went with 3 awe, but I suspect I could get away with even less. Further Sadomasochist ( with max coordination ) did comparable overall damage ( 3 almost guaranteed crits over 2 turns ) vs. my Deathwish sniper. But I eventually went with my SM sniper because I got tired of getting one shot across the map even in cover ( put spare points into str. to wear proper armor and never looked back ).
You truly only need 3 characters, a melee or big guns person to sit up front, a sneaky sniper for the back lines and a combat medic with vagarian blood and leadership. Giving a lot of people animal whisperer 5 helps too, animals give some nice passive bonuses and they make great tanks. I currently have my six main party and 7 followers for my supreme jerk playthrough 😂
Warning if you take serial killer but not invest in coordination at leat 2 points you'll end up with first mission unable to fire first round with any weapon besides small and automatic. I've created sniper and big guns and.. suprise ... :D

Sadly i made already a couple of bad decisions while building my team, but tbh so far every battle was somehow doable, even if i had to spam turrets and decoys to not die instantly :D
I've made some changes for my sniper character that I think it makes him a little bit stronger. All you need is: Goat Killer(background), Death Wish(Quirk), Risky Shot Sniper Rifles (100% crit), max out Coordination, Intelligence and Awareness, Mod -1 AP magazine(on t7 only, as I only found 1 of these), crit damage and hit chance on your Sniper Rifles and the Skills are pretty much the same. Then you can crit on every hit and shoot 3 times per round unless you have to reload. You might need to use Mark Target or your Strike on enemies on Full Cover.
I don’t understand with the sniper. If armor isn’t going to save you, and your sniper only has like 2 str anyway...why not take sadomasochist? If you are gonna die anyway, why not take the 33% extra damage?
@@rpgdivision Its more about Sadomaochist vs. Death Wish (as you have Death Wish in your shown team). In this scenario I would always take Sadomaochist as there are two scenarios. When damage is to high, then both die and it doesn't make much difference. But if its a smaller hit (unless energy), I have the feeling that armor with +33% damage received still takes less damage than no armor. On the AP side my sniper can still shoot twice after using rally and also gets benefit from all the armor bonuses and mods. So I would phrase it: Way of the Squeezins > Sadomaochist > Death Wish
Armor makes no difference if it is penetrated, as it would be with lighter ones that would go on sniper. I disagree with your ranking as i find sadomasochist worst out of all 4 (sm, serial killer, death wish and squeezin). Sure, lots of times you will die anyway from one shot but sometimes you won't, meaning you don't have to waste sniper's turn to recuperate. I do think that no matter what you choose, you are still ok when it comes to sniper build so go for whatever you think it is best for you
@@rpgdivision Maybe a bit more explanantion from my side helps: I had 4 strength on my sniper, that left enough attribute points to max out coordination, luck, awareness and intelligence. I gave my sniper the Chemtek armor, Commandants Helmet and Spectrum Assault Legs (all with mods). On the defense side this gave her in total 44 armor and 85% status effect resist (so she could just shrug off most status effects). On the offense side this gave her +15% crit chance and thanks to the combat drugs from Chemtek armor +2 AP and +15% hit chance, which lets her shoot twice even without having to rely on the leader rally. Also that +0.7 combat speed from leg armor helped to offset the low speed attribute when repositioning was needed or for her role as my my backline medic.
for the off skills like barter , armorsmith , weaponsmith etc ....toaster repair stuff your rarely going to use out in the field ...I just make new recruits with those singular skills maxed and take them where they need to be like my toaster repair guy , requires a bit of checking maps and knowing what is upcoming to plan ahead , but definitely the way to do it , so you can keep all your primary combatants maxed out with combat skills
these extra utility characters should be made with poindexter at beginning of game , so they accrue as many points as possible while sitting at base ....
Create one character at ranger hq or starting character with decent lockpicks and then when scotchmo joins exchange that character with another created one at hq. Or have scotchmo (or any companion) good at one skill instead of lockpicking and have your main character or created one at ranger hq good at locklocking
Im doing it. But i keep restarting because i mess up on the character builds. I wish you could have a team of 6 made characters not just 4 and then recruit 2
I'm really confused by your weapon choice and why your damage is so low. As the gameplay was recorded in Yuma County you should have access to all the endgame weapons and weapon mods. My sniper was using Raytracer/Eliminator both have damage around 400-600, while yours is only half of that. Then why is Scotchmo as your Small Weapons guy not using the Jackhammer - with that he should do twice the damage for less AP (even without activating way of the squeezins). As you are using the Minigun the obvious choice whould have been to add the +20 damage weapon mod as this really scales well with x18 bullets. I also miss a good SMG user - my team leader was using the PDW-01 and did around 250x6 @ 3 AP with it ... add to that a free shot for moving 5 squares and a free shot for killing an enemy (automatics perk) he could fill up his strike meter every round and use Torrent Strike.
Just come here to get called a bastard

On the offense side this gave her +15% crit chance and thanks to the combat drugs from Chemtek armor +2 AP and +15% hit chance, which lets her shoot twice even without having to rely on the leader rally. Also that +0.7 combat speed from leg armor helped to offset the low speed attribute when repositioning was needed or for her role as my my backline medic.
Where did you get the minigun?
How can you use more characters that are made from you? I can only use 4
You can create as many characters at you want at Ranger HQ. Talk to Sergei. Can only use 4 at a time though
for the off skills like barter , armorsmith , weaponsmith etc ....toaster repair stuff your rarely going to use out in the field ...I just make new recruits with those singular skills maxed and take them where they need to be like my toaster repair guy , requires a bit of checking maps and knowing what is upcoming to plan ahead , but definitely the way to do it , so you can keep all your primary combatants maxed out with combat skills
these extra utility characters should be made with poindexter at beginning of game , so they accrue as many points as possible while sitting at base ....
Rainy Jerks?
yesssssssss
So, how u handle with lockpicks early game?
Create one character at ranger hq or starting character with decent lockpicks and then when scotchmo joins exchange that character with another created one at hq.
Or have scotchmo (or any companion) good at one skill instead of lockpicking and have your main character or created one at ranger hq good at locklocking
@@rpgdivision Txh for the responce mate, i didint had time to finish the game, but looking foward to try this build.
Great Video
Not optimal
You think this game can be soloed on hardest difficulty?
Im doing it. But i keep restarting because i mess up on the character builds. I wish you could have a team of 6 made characters not just 4 and then recruit 2
@@JackDog2024 why would you need the 6 made if you're going to solo?
@@Norbingel oh I misunderstood, i thought you meant solo as in without co op.
nice work mate
Didn't bother with mods. It was just character build showcase without equipment focus.
