- Longplay of The Forgotten City, a Sci-Fi Time-Travel (??) FPP Action-Adventure game, once a mod for TES V: Skyrim (released back in 2015), and then, in 2021, released as a standalone game on Unreal Engine 4. Time-Travel as in you live one single day over and over and over, till you can progress and find out what it's all about. All in a Roman village in an underground canyon/cavern, straight from the early days of Christianity and Roman Empire. It was released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 back in July 2021. Here played is the Steam version of the game, played at 2560x1440 resolution, at highest possible details + shadows on medium/high. Recorded at 1440p60 H.265 HEVC via OBS.

In both the full 2021 game and the 2015 mod, the story of The Forgotten City explores the existential relationship between humanity and its laws. The full game begins with the protagonist waking after being rescued from floating down the Tiber River in Italy. The mysterious individual who rescues the player character asks them to look for her friend, who had disappeared whilst investigating nearby ruins. As the player explores said ruins, they are sent back in time to 65 CE, with the ruins restored as a city of the Roman Empire. As the plot progresses and the player continues exploring, it is elaborated that the city is under the protection of the gods, where if anyone is to commit sin, all citizens of the city would be equally punished and turned into gold in a system referred to as the Golden Rule (originally Dwarves' Law). These gold statues, depicting previous inhabitants and residents, can be heard whispering, but seemingly only by the player. The specific sins that are criteria for the Golden Rule to be enacted are not clear to any resident of the city, with numerous records of contradictions.

Hullo frens! The Forgotten City, Skyrim's 2015 mod that turned into a standalone game a few years back. And deserved it. A GREAT standalone game, oh boi. It is one of the best and most creative games I've played in quite a while. It is intelligent, full of options, very atmospheric and sort of a nice educational product that shows some pretty authentic Roman architecture, religion and their way of thinking, up to a point of course. Different endings, many side things that you can choose to do or not to do. It's just great. 8,5/10, absolutely deserved. It's reliving one day over and over until you know everything you need in order to get out of the Roman village you're teleported to. Or... to break the cycle, once and for all. Wholeheartedly recommended folks!
Thanks for watching this longplay, hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did making it! I've got some refferal links in the descriptions, and just thank you for any and all activity under this and my other videos!
Cheers.
Thank You as always for these awesome longplays Ermacgerd
love this game
I don't know the game but it looks great with a nice atmosphere. Lovely feature for a lazy sunday evening👌 Thnx4Upld👍
This was such a good game
"Early days of Christianity and the Roman Empire."
So this game must be fascinating.
Yes, rare timeframe in games, when Christians were a "cult" and were met with disdain by everyone in Roman Empire. But, truth be told - it isn't the main topic of this game, it's a Sci-Fi "break the cycle" type of game, everything else is just the background. :D
This game is soooo goood. I've got to try the original skyrim mod.
