Wow, what a find, all great finds really. Thanks for inspiring me to get off my ass and get in the creek! Thanks for bringing us along. My wife and kids love watching your videos so far. We our making are way through them together. Awesome rock stack by the way, keep that up. High vibrations and positive energy!
Chalcedony and agate goodness! It's either wood or a huge dinosaur bone, nice find either way. Massive carnelian find, wow! Great adventure, as always Maverick. ☺️
Hey Lizzy 😊 yeah I’ve been back since and the big guy is gone. 🤣 That carnelian one is my favourite rock. Benny and I ended up cutting it with that massive saw a few videos back. It’s beautiful inside, now I just gotta polish it 🤔😊
While you were looking at that tiny black crystal beauty and going WOW I was remembering all the times I have found something really cool and got extra excited. Very cool.
The colors in most of your finds were amazing , that little Smokey you found was my favorite . I always enjoy your videos and want to say thanks for sharing your experiences.
highenergyog Oh man thank you dude for watching my stuff. I know right, that little Smokey was a fun one to find just sitting on the surface. Have a good day OG!
Rockhounding is a great adventure! Maybe more so a passion...no a possessive passion. Found your channel today and have been binge watching. Thanks you and keep up the fun!
I live close to Fundy Bay with the worlds highest tides. We get a lot of wave action and lots of stone beach that I go to for a walk about twice a week. So much fun rock hunting. I found some cool rocks yesterday including a big chunk of petrified tree I brought home in my back pack. So heavy but I will but it into slabs and polish them for coffee coasters. They should look pretty cool.
James Mann Awesome mate👍 we only have one beach near my place that has chalcedony wash up on it but I haven’t had a chance to go explore it. Thanks for watching bud, happy exploring 👍
Rookie, if I were you I would be panning some of the fines in that creek. That little smokey you found is a good indicator for the presence of Gold in the area.
BigDogBob Oh really? I have a mate who told me I should start doing that also, I might give it a try soon, but I’ll be even more rookie at that haha! Thanks for the tip bigdogbob
Hey thanks dude, yeah we’ve tried and have so much river to cover that I need to start marking what we’ve explored on a map. The creeks out here sometimes stop and go with the amount of chalcedony the give up to us. It could be a matter of new creek beds crossing super old creek beds that weaved back and forth leaving some of the new creeks to not have any chalcedony here and there. And then a whole bunch in some places. It’s a mystery but the source is always something we hope to one day find. One day haha!
tanja strickler Yeah we’re pretty lucky where I am. The creek out the back of my hows though is the same, full of quartz and nothin much else. Thanks for watching 👍
You guys have nice stuff out there . Omg dude so I set up a area in my basement and I can’t do the sanding by hand . So I rigged up a homemade drum out of a broom handle cut little inch and a half pieces glued the sandpaper to drilled a hole for the Dremel bit and screwed it in and it worked pretty good .i have tree 🌲 season coming up so I can buy a sander then but for know I had to improvise
Oh mate improvisation is the way we find new and better ways of doing things. That’s awesome though mate 👍👍👍 Nice work and also I hope tree season goes super well bud.
looked like a good day out rookie, some really nice finds as well. The bigger Rhyolite/thundereggs would produce some great lapidary items, you really are getting your eye in now and finding better stuff, keep the videos happening mate 👍 kev
Kevin Nix Oh man thank you Kevin for the support hey! Yeah I have to wait a fair while I think till I can get my hands on a saw to cut these guys open but for now I’m just collecting stuff so when I do get one I’ll have hours of cutting fun haha! What type of saw do you use? Is it a tile saw? Thank you for watching dude 👍
Rookie Rockhoundin , yes, i use a tilers saw, it slides on overhead rail, and drops as well. Its not for everyone, but i love it, it gives me complete control on cutting all sizes, its only a couple of minutes to change blade size from 150mm, right thru to 300mm, so i can cut all size rocks. Saw choice is a touchy subject between rock cutters, when the time comes, research exactly what you want. Allways best to see a mates saw in action, and if you can have a few cuts on it, before deciding yourself. kev
Kevin Nix, Yeah I’ve seen yours in action on your vids and it’s a beast! Like in a good way, I think you’re right though, there’s so much to think about but i think a saw is definitely going to be my next investment, to get inside the stones and see what’s hidden. My buddy I go hounding with has a quick cut which is a hand held petrol powered thing that scares the crap outta me, but he reckons we should try using it. Haha! I’m saying in the interest of safety and a nice clean cut, it’s a big no for me, but I like your setup. Thank you for the tips though cause there’s so many questions concerning rock cutting. Once I save up the money I’m gonna do my research. Wish I was closer to where you’re at, but it’s a bit of a drive haha! Would love to have a look at you at work on the tilers saw in person. Thanks again Kev!!
Rookie Rockhoundin , I hope you dont mind, I have shared a link to this video, I have some comments asking what area this is. Are you able to tell me anything about the location (without giving away secrets of course), even the nearest big town would be good 🤔 kev
Kevin Nix, Kevin Nix Oh man thank you, and always feel free to share the link to any of my videos as I don’t have Facebook yet. But, as for location this is a place where I first started looking for rocks and it’s a pretty popular place for local rockhounders, so a lot of people do know about it and I don’t want to make anyone annoyed by putting its name out there. There’s so many reasons why people keep their locations secret, some I understand but really I think everyone should get out and enjoy it so, long story short haha, the best way to give the rough area would be if you head inland from the Gold Coast. Into the hinterland and head south. Through the valley. I basically found it by looking on maps of creeks in the area. Ahhhh it feels funny giving away a location 🤣🤣🤣 but yeah, I hope that helps. For you personally I would tell you the exact spot, so if you ever head down this way let me know. I’ll take you to a few good spots. I hope that helps though. 💎💎💎 there’s pleanty of treasures to be found out there. Let me know if you need more info too.
It was such a great day out there, it always is really. Good finds just make it that bit more rewarding haha! The best thing for finding what’s in your area would be to google “minerals of your area”, and also rockhounding “your area” it should come up with some possibilities. All the best and good luck!
Rookie Rockhounding thanks!! I really wanna dig for quartz, I live in Pennsylvania in the US so there is some located here but I don’t know what indicators to look for and everything
Oh okay, I wish I could say what to look for but each mineral has its own indicators. But do go out and have a look, the more you do, the more familiar you get with the minerals in that area. 😁👍 Good luck and enjoy the hunt and nature!
@@torilynne647 you can Google where to find locations on where others have discovered gems. That's what I did where I live. Found some jasper and nice pieces of other stones from those sites. Dept of lands also posts where some are located as well. Good luck!
4:39 You chose to leave behind a prize find right there! It does look like petrified wood, and also does appear to be some beautiful Jasper! I would have come back with whatever it took to get that thing home! 6:11 Zen... cut to a great find 6 seconds later! I'm kind of surprised that you don't have any tools, but congrats on that very interesting chunk! I'm sorry that I hadn't seen this until March 10th of 2020!
This yellow-red piece is beeswax. In the Chinese market, the price is more expensive, several hundred grams per gram, good quality, thousands of yuan per gram, do you want to buy? My phone: 4057805609, if you are interested, please send a text message. Lucy
Hey pretty cool videos you make. Maybe you should head back to this spot and try to find this petrified wood piece again evan its big, but I am pretty sure it is wood and the size and the condition is pretty rare I think. Greetings from Germany
Hey thank you friend! I’ve been back since and it’s gone now. It flooded before I had the chance to go back and I think it may have gotten swept away, or someone else had taken it. There will be more finds out there though 😊👍
Nice !! didnt know yous had amethyst there to man. Ever hear of the ThunderBay, Ontario " Amethyst deposit " ? Awesome finds tho , That stuff is all new to me ... nice to see something different !
Ontario RockHound Oh yeah dude, in this area there isn’t too much but there’s some beautiful chevron amethyst from Australia that’s just stunning. So far I’ve only found little baby ones haha! Thanks for watching mate!
Rookie Rockhounding faaack I wanna visit australia bigtimess lol xD , not sure if its due to our lack of education about other places in the world but figured it was dryer there yanno what i mean hahaha . , and stuff that bites ya once and thats it for that .. But looks awesome there ! watching this again made me abit more interested in crystals .
Ontario RockHound Oh man that’s really cool to hear it made you a bit more interested in crystals. And hahahaha! Yeah you’re actually totally right, there’s things here that’ll leave ya for dead in no time, but you just gotta watch out for em and not be too cocky, and where I live is on the coast say half hour in, it’s a lot dryer the closer you get to the centre of the country. But dude it’s a great place to visit. Such a beautiful country 👌
Rookie Rockhounding ffs dude.. xD , safetty! . but makes sense . and yeah from what ive seen forsure ! . and the shealas there like ozzy man would say ;) hahah weeh lol
Hey buddy! Welcome to the fun man! So the Citric acid is like a cheap and non dangerous way of cleaning the stones. It gets rid of the organic material on the rocks that has been there for years. Gives you a better, cleaner rough stone. I use it on every batch I take home. Vinegar is very much the same. It just depends on what’s cheapest. 😉
Love ur channel! Im a 3 generation rock hound and I find rock hunting to be very relaxing. I wanted to send u a pic of my newest agate that ive ben tumbling.
Hey Jeremy! Oh wow! 3 generation rockhound! Nice man👍👍👍 I would love to see the newest agate you’re tumbling 👌 I’m going to make an email address just for rocks, but I can’t do that until we get home from camping, so in a week or so it should be up and ready. Take care mate
Rookie Rockhounding. Ok just let me know. I even have a rock from my great great grandfather that has ben handed down to son after son and made it to me! He said that ever rock tells a story u just need to look for it!
Jeremy Plott Oh wow man that’s so cool, I hope one day my grandkids can enjoy what I’ve found. It’s so true and I think that’s what I love about the rocks, they’re pretty, but they have individual story’s. Way older than ours. 😁
Finding Treasure in Colorado Hey bud, no I haven’t got them tools to cut anything open just yet. Saving up though. But yeah he looks like there could be more prettiness inside hey.
alot of times rhyolite will look like pet wood I'm pretty sure the big one you left for other rockhounds was a rhyolite my area has red and yellow ones too rhyolite can look alot of ways from silicated finely all the way to porous pumice tiny bubbles can be a indicator. lines form up in many ways too from straight to squiggly depending on conditions. it looks like you picked some nice rhyolites that will cut and polish definitely the carnelian too. Good eye on your amethyst and smokey only about 20% of the quartz in most areas turns purple and I consider it rare unless it came from a major producing area. little purple bits are bragging rights about your area! Overall a very good day of hounding!
Travs Guide Oh man, honestly, this is why I started sharing videos, so I can learn from peeps like yourself. Thank you mega for taking the time to explain this stuff to me. I really do appreciate it bro, I really do. So grateful 🤟
no problem brother always ready to help we are a small group and knowledge runs thin sometimes I know that for sure never be afraid to guess we all develop a keener sense with each trip rock hounding
hahahaha it's all about the pretty rocks at any level xD Go find yourself the cheapest tile saw you can get so you can start cutting some of those beauties up! I don't know what the prices are like out your way but here you can pick up a decent one for around $100. Hell, even a angle grinder with a diamond cut off wheel on it with a garden hose as your water will do too if you got a steady hand xD
Chris Sutherland Hahaha! Oh man you don’t know how much I wanna just do that! I’ve been tossin up ideas of what I wanna get for cutting them open and probably thinking too much but I think a tile saw is the way to go for now. Just gotta get off my butt and get one. When I do though I’ll be showing how they all turn out haha!
Hey Jude, I had a look online and sure enough man, you can find it in New Jersey. Here’s a link to mindat. It can be a bit confusing to start with but even just look up rockhounding New Jersey. It may help. Here’s the link mate, good luck! www.mindat.org/locentries.php?p=14024&m=960
Haley Liverton Hey Haley, I’m on the Gold Coast, South East Queensland area. I’ve found a little bit of precious opal on my latest video. Only the tiniest piece ever! In Rhyolite.
Thirst Fast Haha! Oh man one day I’ll be able to do some trades. But dude the amethysts out there are bonkers! They make mine look like grains of sand haha! Thanks for watching mate👍
You can get a small tile saw at pawn shops it will help you cut that awesome carnelian. Anything harder than quartz type stones would require a diamond blade to cut. Another resource for you is mindat(dot)org for identification and world wide localities of materials. Keep going you got the bug 😎
Just found your channel, outstanding content. I am always asking if anyone would ship me some to the UK, is that something you would consider ? That petrified wood was amazing, we have nothing like that here, fossils and flint mostly, nothing like you have been showing. I have to import my materials from Europe , it's hit and miss being mine runs and yard stock. If you would like to discuss this further I will send you my email address. Thanks
Symon Sheppard, hey dude! Thank you very much. I’m just sort of starting out with getting deeper into rock hounding and collecting things to one day eventually cut into slabs (when I get a saw) which may be a little while. As for now though i don’t have a massive collection other than stuff I’m wanting to keep or cut. I think until then the good stuff that would be worth sending you is a bit big for shipping cost. I think?? But in the future I would be totally more than happy to send you some stuff. Totally not fobbing you off. I honestly would love to though. Thank you! Headin to your channel now to have a watch of your vids. Thanks again buddy!
Rookie Rockhoundin Read your comments on my vids, thank you it's nice to be given even a slight bit of praise, I try to make the image I have created in my mind, a rough sketch with the mechanics of assembly and any profiling, it's easy to miss or forget, but if it doesn't look right it won't go out, will be posting more vids soon , one will show how it is important to use washers in certain instances, the final instalment of the featured rock and at least one ongoing project.
wa wa Hey, sorry, it depends on what you base value on. Are they fun to find? And is that valuable to me? Then yes, these rocks are priceless. Do they hold monetary value? Maybe... but in all truth, probably not. Unless they are able to be worked in a lapidary sense. Or maybe they could make a nice piece to sit on a shelf and be enjoyed by passers by. In another way they are valuable indicators of the geological history of this area as well. Value is a broad term my friend. It’s up to us as individuals to decide a value on a material. I hope that helps. 😉
wa wa If I'm not mistaken, I believe he is saying that the "value" is not always in the rock. For me it is the fun of the hunt, and some of my best rocks are not valuable to anyone else.
Hi thanks for the offer but for now I’m just not set up to sell or buy any at the moment. I hope down the track I might be able to share some of the finds I come across with people around the world but it’s so costly and I don’t know that many would want the ones I’m not attached to. Sorry, one day though... hopefully 😁
@@Rookie_Rockounding thanks I just found your yt channel today. Your great UA-camr. I also am rockhound. I LOVE collecting rocks but I live some where else where there isn't much. I wish I lived in Australia

I love your reaction to the rocks. Really. Really. Beautiful
Chalcedony and agate goodness! It's either wood or a huge dinosaur bone, nice find either way. Massive carnelian find, wow! Great adventure, as always Maverick. ☺️

Thank you very much! Very lucky to find them 😁
The agate piece you found, the one you got wet, said "lets wet it" - did you cut that open? Looks like there's more inside it
Finding Treasure in Colorado
Hey bud, no I haven’t got them tools to cut anything open just yet. Saving up though. But yeah he looks like there could be more prettiness inside hey.
Just found your channel live your style. Where in Aussie are you. I'm in New Zealand
Ah awesome! Cheers my friend across the Tasman! I live on the Gold Coast in Qld. 😉👍
sweet carnelian agates quite fine material
Travs Guide
Oh man thanks brother, it was such a good day off work. Best way to chill. Thanks for watching Trav!
alot of times rhyolite will look like pet wood I'm pretty sure the big one you left for other rockhounds was a rhyolite my area has red and yellow ones too rhyolite can look alot of ways from silicated finely all the way to porous pumice tiny bubbles can be a indicator. lines form up in many ways too from straight to squiggly depending on conditions. it looks like you picked some nice rhyolites that will cut and polish definitely the carnelian too. Good eye on your amethyst and smokey only about 20% of the quartz in most areas turns purple and I consider it rare unless it came from a major producing area. little purple bits are bragging rights about your area! Overall a very good day of hounding!
Travs Guide
Oh man, honestly, this is why I started sharing videos, so I can learn from peeps like yourself.

Thank you very much, the creek was kind that day 😉
I just generalize and call em all agates too hahaha :P
Chris Sutherland
Yeah man, I’m seriously such a novice, it’s all basically pretty rocks hahaha x)
hahahaha it's all about the pretty rocks at any level xD Go find yourself the cheapest tile saw you can get so you can start cutting some of those beauties up! I don't know what the prices are like out your way but here you can pick up a decent one for around $100. Hell, even a angle grinder with a diamond cut off wheel on it with a garden hose as your water will do too if you got a steady hand xD
Chris Sutherland
Hahaha! Oh man you don’t know how much I wanna just do that! I’ve been tossin up ideas of what I wanna get for cutting them open and probably thinking too much but I think a tile saw is the way to go for now. Just gotta get off my butt and get one. When I do though I’ll be showing how they all turn out haha!
awesome! I can't wait to see em! xD
Is this an Australian thing or can you find these kinds of rocks in the US, New Jersey?
Hey Jude, I had a look online and sure enough man, you can find it in New Jersey. Here’s a link to mindat. It can be a bit confusing to start with but even just look up rockhounding New Jersey. It may help. Here’s the link mate, good luck!
www.mindat.org/locentries.php?p=14024&m=960
where are you mate? I know in aussi, but what town? i did not know you could find anything like this in aus, just opals etc?
Haley Liverton
Hey Haley, I’m on the Gold Coast, South East Queensland area. I’ve found a little bit of precious opal on my latest video. Only the tiniest piece ever! In Rhyolite.
I should move to Australia.
Haha! It’s a beautiful place!
WET IT!
:) I'm from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Check out amethyst from there. *wink wink* trade bait? Lol!!!!!
Thirst Fast
Haha!

Keep going you got the bug 😎
i have been looking amber stone
Symon Sheppard, dude watched your vids and mate the craftsmanship on the stuff you create is brilliant! Very cool indeed!
Rookie Rockhoundin
Read your comments on my vids, thank you it's nice to be given even a slight bit of praise, I try to make the image I have created in my mind, a rough sketch with the mechanics of assembly and any profiling, it's easy to miss or forget, but if it doesn't look right it won't go out, will be posting more vids soon , one will show how it is important to use washers in certain instances, the final instalment of the featured rock and at least one ongoing project.
Symon Sheppard sounds great man, I’ll be keepin my eye out for more vids. 👍
Symon Sheppard i find alot in montana and just carved a turtle from blue agate for a guy in japan.
Too bad about the petrified wood.
Yeah, it was way too big 🤣 went back the other week and it was gone so at least someone who knows what they’re doing got to take it 😁
What state are you rockhounding in ???
JK XTC
I’m in Queensland Australia 👍
Are these rocks have any value
wa wa
Hey, sorry, it depends on what you base value on.
Trumpenstein why do you say that ???1
wa wa If I'm not mistaken, I believe he is saying that the "value" is not always in the rock. For me it is the fun of the hunt, and some of my best rocks are not valuable to anyone else.
Hi sir/mam i just want to ask if you are buying/selling gemstone my #09386515220 sir/mam made in phillipines
Hi thanks for the offer but for now I’m just not set up to sell or buy any at the moment. I hope down the track I might be able to share some of the finds I come across with people around the world but it’s so costly and I don’t know that many would want the ones I’m not attached to. Sorry, one day though... hopefully 😁
