The True Events that Inspired Scream VI

- Despite being a fictional story, with fictional characters the decision to base Scream VI in New York City came as a surprise when it was revealed in 2022. The standard formula of the franchise was more leaned towards the suburban home intruder effect, an effect that had served as the main premise for the original movie in 1996.
Upon watching Scream VI, it became apparent that a lot of the moments involving Ghostface felt more real than we’d seen previously from the franchise. The setting of New York opened up several possibilities, possibilities that provided a scarier experience than before due to the feeling of not feeling safe in a hugely populated city. That feeling is all too familiar, for the residents of New York City.

the original film was also based on true events so while it's sad that this stuff still happens, i like that the writers are carrying on that tradition
The Gainesville murders
Danny Rolling right?
6:07 Light correction, Quinns boy toy was found dead by mindy in the bathtub during the attack, before anika died.. Drawing a more streamlined parallel with the Apartment murder that she was dead in her respective bathroom. Loved the vid tho man
You know, I'm not even surprised that Scream VI is based on true events. A lot of horror films are. Or at least, inspired by true events.
This is typical big city crime;
Apartment attacks, bodega robberies turned violent, and subway chaos.
Unless the filmmakers said otherwise I don't think these specific crimes inspired anything in the movie.
Cool video though 👍
A real life Ghostface
Sure it is
Holy Christ , that’s terrifying
I don't know what's more scarier, watching people being killed in a movie or in real life 😮
Put yourself in both situations and come back and tell us
@@ismackshortkids I don't think you understood my comment. Watching people being killed is scary
On one hand, someone's just acting, and on the other, someone is actually dying... I wonder which is more frightening😂
@@Jett251It's not about that at all. Obviously watching someone being killed for real would be horrific but watching it on screen I find to be scary as well. Isn't that the whole point of a horror movie to scare people 🙄
Definitely more stress and hormones in real life situations. Some of the dumb decisions characters make in movies are probably pretty realistic.
The news reports at the beginning were chilling
Last time I was this early Casey is still alive
I don't know if these inspired the movie but I mean I know the original story
Your videos are always amazing.
This video was chilling and I realy enjoyed it. Love your content as always and wish everyone the best!
Hey I thought you were a scream expert guy!! What about dude that was dead in the shower, Quinn’s bf or whatever, Mindy’s gf wasn’t the only victim, I can how it’d would be easy to forget, Not ever hearing A line from him in the movie, or I guess seeing him acting guess he said something or she’s on the phone
I love the music, makes it chilling 😁. I knew this really happened 😮
"Based on a true story"...oh yeah, the statement that used to scary us as childs when we saw that after a horror movie.
47 seconds ago... Great video as always!!
This video is Your Best video ever
I know what inspired the first one was the Gainesville ripper which happened in Florida. Eleanor Neale covers it really good on her channel
Ok ok ok he has switched it up once again and im hooked. ❤️
Scream 6 is NYC inspired Crime Mystery Thriller movie in 2023
Only victim?? Um what about the guy Quinn was casually see dead in the bathtub ???
Damn I always completely forget about that guy. RIP Rando.
"OHHH FUQ THAT GUY'S DEAD!" - Mindy Meeks-Martin
@@lunarskynetwork9337 Who the F-- is PAUL?!? RIP No-Screen-Time Legend.
@@ct6852 I actually almost commented that quote! 😂
@@lunarskynetwork9337 It's a good one. lol
Yes! I’m early
Interesting parallels! Did the screen writers come out and say these were direct sources of inspiration though?
No. As I said in another comment, this is typical big city crime so any similarity is no big deal. 🤷♂️
poor girl getting killed as soon as she got home and the one on the tinder date. see i’m always watching my back and i definitely would be if i lived in NYC, but i never would be tbh. i also take extreme caution with people on dating apps. they basically have to pass a background check before we do anything. humans are so sick and stories like this make it hard not to hate the world we live in. why can’t we just live in peace? existing is hard enough already.
uh great video, but I don't think they intended on inspiring any real events
Am surprised you were able to keep the R word in that report.
This is what people mean when they call our justice system a joke.
Huh 🤔 a real ghostface I didn't see that one coming curse you gaze villy ripper
So basically your saying people are unoriginal and just copy real incidents into a film without much else to make it unique kinda typical Hollywood really but besides all that I'm a huge scream fan since the original
So bizarre to hear these real life events that inspired these movies. Kind of nauseating. Actually shocked at how many there actually are. Always thought of the films as complete fantasy. I didn't even know about the Gainesville Murders until like seven years ago when that Reelz doc came out. The copycat killings at that high school are also disturbing. And Columbine still the worst. Always hoped they weren't actual fans of these movies.
Damnn wtf
Cool video and could you do a what if like what if billy and stu swap roles with mickey and nancy who would kill who in scream 2
The weakest scream movie
