- Hello all you Scream fans out there and welcome to today’s episode from the channel, where today we’re going to be discussing a key detail in Scream VI which was…quite controversial to say the least, but actually made more sense in its original script, which makes me wonder why this was changed? So I wanted to do a video discussing it and also sort of let you know the specifics of what initially happened in the final act of the original draft for Scream VI, all the bits that were chanted and cut so you may understand why the finished product was a little…clunky?

My biggest frustration with the Scream 6 ending is how everyone seemed to forget how knives work and multiple stabs seemed to have no effect on Tara. Let's not even get started on Chad...
But people have been stabbed like that and lived. How about the girl that was sacrificed to slender man by her friends…. Go watch I survived. There was a women that killed her attacker with her guts in her hands.

I feel with Scream 5-6, once the killers’ monologue is finished they rush the finale and make the killers weaker and are easily defeated where else in 1-4 it was a challenge to defeat them
Like their invincible characteristics disappear after they take off the mask.

I remember even in theater seeing that moment of the father charging at Sam with the gun in his hand, making a face and thinking, "What the hell was that? Why would they film that?" 😆
Yea stupid ass part that has the Sidney affect all over it when he could've just shot her in the face can't believe anyone would actually believe this would happen in real life unless your really stupid and a lame ass serial killer like every gf in the franchise smh
I found the final act disappointing. I don’t think the three family members put up much of a fight against the sisters. It should have lasted longer and been more of a back and forth between everybody involved. A ghostface family could have been deadly. It felt wasted.
5 and 6 are both disappointing in general in MY opinion. sorry for anyone that doesn't agree. I don't want to fight

I love 6 but I wish someone died in the finale AFTER the 3 ghostfaces were revealed. Like Mindy could’ve made it to the finale and died here to show how deadly 3 are.
Honestly they should have just had both guns blank. The awkwardness before the charge would have been hilarious and it least make sense as to why they both charged
The issue I have is it was too unreal. No way no one would know that wasn’t Richie’s family. Especially Gale and Kirby, they would’ve known who the family members were of Richie. I also still have an issue with the fact that Quinn was the one doing some of the intense murder scenes like Gale. Having killers now between the ages of 18-25 don’t sell very well. Only times that really worked was Billy, Stu and Mickey
Scream 5 and 6 are yk,, kind of requels to Scream and Scream 2 where Billy, Stu and Mickey were 18-25 like Amber, Ethan and Quinn. The older folks like Mrs Loomis, Richie and Wayne did deserve a lot more kills if u ask me tho
Yeah Wayne charging at Sam with a loaded gun was a funny moment but we can only take it as he wasn't obviously thinking and in the heat of the moment he was too determined in killing Sam but I agree Wayne, Ethan and Quinn was only threatening as Ghostface not when they were revealed as Ghostface.
Not even. Ethan negated Quinn's Ghostface work by pointlessly saving Mindy. Also the 2 of them somehow couldn't handle Super Chad. They only got no named characters

When it comes to Scream 5 and 6… sure, they create intense and entertaining action pieces, but the writing is just terrible. In 5 they wasted Vince. As Stu’s nephew he would’ve made a fantastic red-herring if he was expanded upon and made it right to the reveal. Instead, he’s the first kill and you don’t even find out he’s Stu’s nephew until after his death. Then there’s Liv, a character so pointless you could remove her from the movie entirely and it would have absolutely no impact on the story at all. Then they fuck up basic continuity in regards to the Stab films and the amount of times Dewey’s been stabbed.
In 6, the regressed Gale’s character from an arc THEY created just to have conflict with the sisters that lasts all of 5 minutes, they copy-and-paste not only the killer’s motive from Scream 2, but also the location (a theatre) and it still doesn’t slap like it did in 2. Then people believing Sam is the murderer from 5, despite the presence of multiple surviving witnesses from 5 who can attest otherwise. They dangle Sam’s possible descent to the dark side (in both) but she never even comes close to it being a problem. Not to mention the armor for characters they don’t have the balls to kill. In a friggin slasher movie. In 2 movies they’ve given us the least intimidating killers post-reveal. They create so much potential for these stories but have never delivered.
You made a great point 😂 when you mentioned about the way Wayne was pointing his gun at Sam as he runs towards her. When i first watched this movie at the movie theater, i was wondering why he didn't just shoot her if she was running towards him, but i just figured it was editing error or something. Man, I thought i was the only one that noticed that. Though, it would have definitely been nice if Radio Silence stuck with the original script.

This is just one of several issues I have with Scream 6.
I think scream 6 had the most forgettable killers in the franchise, even more than Charlie because at least he was a good actor. The three killers tried so hard to act crazy in the final act and it made me cringe
Most forgettable? When I rewatched Scream 3 I didn't even remember who Roman was and what was his name 🤣
But the family can be the second.
I agree with everyone else too. I think the final act could have been much more guttural, macabre, horrific, and scary. i’m praying scream 7 will deliver.
there definitely should have been a longer fight scene between Quinn and Sam IMO
Facts. I LOVE LIANA and she deserved better. I mean Quinn literally teased it by putting the knife to Sam's throat, "There's the fucking killer". FUCKING EPIC. Then they do NOTHING and just bam, shoots Quinn in the head. That killed my vibe for the final act and I was like EH. Because I'm such a big Scream and Liana fan. Radio Silence screwed BOTH Kyle Gallner and Liana Liberato over so bad and I'll never forgive them for that. Both Vince and Quinn deserved bigger roles in their movies and performances.
It would have been better if Bailey did try to shoot Sam but before he could pull the trigger, Tara shot at Bailey from below distracting him. I found that moment between Sam and Bailey in the rafters really dumb.
That final act was kind of disappointing. The bad guys didn’t really feel like a threat at the end. They were defeated way too easily. It wasn’t interesting.
It was the point of it... To show that Sam is more dangerous than them.
Than it’s not horror or scream movie then. Making the main character more dangerous than the killers themself. That’s not really a final girl.
@@Ryuha1234 Do you like these movies at all? I mean Scream have always been a Slasher/Satire which means it often jokes on slasher tropes or does the same in a better way. The references in the movie aren't just random easter eggs... They all have meanings.
Scream VI final act was mostly a train wreck. A family of incompetents, more than tough Ghostfaces. Also, the reveal made so many other characters look like complete utter morons egs: Kirby having no idea who they were. Gale us well.

I think not shooting makes sense. The saying if you see a gun charge, if you see a knife run. The knife is much more dangerous because you most likely will get hurt very easily, however a gun can miss and will eventually have to be reloaded, you can’t afford to waste any bullets.
True. But I also think that from what we saw in the final cut of the film, we see a pretty much close distance between Sam and Detective Bailey/Wayne Kirsch. Moreover, there was a brief awkward pause and a perfect lapse in time for Bailey to try to attempt in taking a shot from the moment Sam realized that the gun she holds is now out of bullets and when she and Detective Bailey are even charging towards each other. Besides, if he wasn’t attempting to shoot her right away while charging her, why still hold the gun up in the first place? I think the direction they were going for that scene overall is just awkward and not well executed.
@@geekyheadquarters I see your point. I think it’s still defendable from the perspective that he really didn’t expect her to run at him. He planned for probably six months of how this would all go down, and her getting the upper hand would really mess with his logical thinking.
Plus he's a cop he's got accuracy in shooting her in the face

5 and 6 are so weird because they have the exact opposite flaws. 5 is boring and then has an amazing final act while 6 is great throughout and has a complete shit final act and reveal.

Scream 5 had a stealthy killer so now we have a Rambo... Scream 5 made 2 legacy characters die so they didn't kill anyone here and so on...

I enjoyed 6's final act more than 5's lmao. 5's felt like a remake of 4's which it was. 6's was different, yeah, maybe one reveal is predictable (Wayne) and not the most developed thanks to Scream 6 taking up the screentime to focus on Gale rather than Quinn/Ethan because fan service bullshit, but for what it was, I enjoyed the hell out of it more than Richie/Amber. Liana was so fucking good and I loved how crazy she made Quinn. Easily the craziest Kirsch family member imo. The writing in the final act was BS though. I wish we actually saw an Ethan vs. Tara and Quinn vs. Sam fight scene instead they rushed it for time because they took up ALOT of it for Gale's big scene in her apartment. Cut that out, they could of added in so much more but, fan service BS.
@@Hear.myvoice Scream 6 made Scream 5 a better movie imo thanks to the connections. 5 felt like a remake of 4 except Jill did it better. 5 lacked character developed and fucked Kyle Gallner over which I'll never forgive Radio Silence for, then again, they fucked Liana Liberato over in 6 so F Radio Silence lol. They just needed better writers. 6 was completely different than any of the others. Sure, it wasn't MTV Scream amazing (imo the Scream TV Show had the most brutal kills and story by far), but it was something and Jenna freaking killed it. Fact is, you don't need to kill a whole cast to make a great Slasher. You just need character development and story. I'd rather them torture my hero's instead of killing them off. That's why I hate Halloween Kills. Brings back legacy characters and kills off great minor characters like Cameron just to add to the kill count with no development behind it. Scream 6 was more of a feel good movie like the first one and it didn't need to kill anyone big off after losing Dewey. I mean, I don't mind if Gale died. But Love the fact that Chad's the new Dewey because let's face it. The movies need another strong male character. MTV Scream does it with Noah and he's by far the best character imo in the franchise. The movies need strong male characters after Dewey at this point.
I absolutely love the videos about an aspect of the original script. It shines light on what was originally intended and like in this video, shows us missing dialog that connects an unanswered question from the final. That being said with hearing about what the original motive was for the Bailey's, it makes their characters way more brutal even Richie. For his movies being played in the background to be real life remakes of the stab movies moves him up the totem ploe for me as one of the darkest ghostface to put on the mask. And for Ethan to kill his mother because she didn't want to avenge Richie in a murderous way makes the other three just as dark and insane as Richie. Please show more videos like this as I really enjoy seeing what was originally intended for the movie
(In regards to Bailey running with the gun) Based on my experience on countless sets, it is most likely a result of it being rushed like you said. The directors (or someone) made a decision that changed the actors' action and either there was no time or no one spoke up (which is often the case) about why what they ended up doing made less sense.

UA-camr 3C Films actually thought the motive of the father should have been guilt for making Richie a fan of the Stab movies and he wanted to Stop more Ghostfaces like him from happening. Which that actually would have been a better motive for the killers instead of just an EXACT copy of Scream 2’s killer motive.
I think if Sam actually got shot by Bailey in the finale but she just ate it and continued to charge at him, I think it would've been a cool way to show that Sam is more like Ghostface than we first thought

Matricide, Material abandonment comes full circle. I think it goes back to the production didn’t want take chances with that installment in fear of triggering the audience. I kind wish they made Ethan Conflicted as an accomplice to add a little more drama to final act take after Mrs. Bailey unwilling to become crazy like Nancy Loomis.
The one thing about ghostface. They always fail after their little speech. How about plant seeds in the calls so we can get a full on epic battle for the final scene?
See I absolutely loved scream 6 I think it’s the best in out of all the sequels besides the original. But they made the hype for this trailer so good and it felt like we were finally gonna have something different like it said in the trailer and was never said in the actual film and to find out it was related to Richie felt lame if they wanted a ghost face family they should have done amber’s family she had more kills and also Richie’s. In the end the whole final act felt rushed but it was still great I loved how they referenced scream original with Sam putting on the mask I thought that part was amazing!
The ending was definitively the worst in the franchise. No consistency. Thanksgiving points out why the confession monologues make no sense especially in 2022.
The first end where I had 0 interest. Even 3 was at least fresh with it being a character Sid didn't genuinely know was her bro or even existed. 5 at LEAST we got SOME misdirection and a somewhat back and forth fight.

I personally don’t mind the final act. Jenna and Melissa help keep the intensity going with their exceptional acting. However, I will agree that the three ghost faces aren’t really much of a threat which is crazy to say because when they were masked this was the most ruthless and brutal ghostface has ever been! And as soon as they take off their masks it’s like they were severely less threatening😅
Take Jill for example. Even when she was unmasked she never lost her intensity, mind you, she got even crazier! So to compare Ethan, Bailey, and Quinn to past ghostfaces they unfortunately missed the mark. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like their motive it was a nice twist to have it been Richie’s family.
I had no problem with the final act and loved the film as a whole. The killer reveal was fun and the 3 worked well together
The Scooby-Doo reveal made me laugh. Otherwise a fun Scream movie.
Yeah that third act was pretty weak. There are things that should've and could've been handled better but unfortunately they dropped the ball.
Maybe they've released a director's cut but I'm not gonna hold my breath for it.
Yeah it’s weird that ghost face wearing the mask has way better control of the situations in general than the end. It’s just silly because I had a mask years ago and it wasn’t easy to see in for sure.
The script version seems to make more sense and has more context.
I never gave much thought to Dt Bailey running at her with the gun. Is there a chance he was in two minds? Whilst yeah, he wants to shoot her to end her life, maybe he also had a stronger urge to brutally kill her as that was how she killed Richie in S5. Overall, I do like how S6 came to a close. One of the major things about S6 is that Dt Bailey was too obvious of a choice for a killer jn my opinion. Knew it was him who was gonna be one of them as soon as it was released he was cast in the movie as a cop

gales the kind of person to not have much blood on her hands anyways. she’s assisted in killing the gf’s like billy, mickey, and amber but she’s never directly done the final blow like sam or sidney do because she’s too classy. i like that about her however i would give ambers death to her even if tara did the final blow bc it’s so important for her to kill dewey’s killer.

I have to disagree the writers for Scream 2022 and Scream 6 are OK at best and they are not good enough for Scream! I agree the script version is better but the movie is still full of issues that the final act causes to stick out big time and Scream is just not at the quality it use to be!
I think the better thing would have been to remove the "there's the f**king killer" line than to add all of the context before that into the movie. The idea of killing the mom because she didn't want to take part in the plan defeats the purpose of avenging the son. Now another family member is killed 🤷♂.
I think in the baileys minds they were thinking family protects each other so since the mom didn’t want to avenge Richie she was considered an enemy
I loved scream 6
The scenery-chewing, over the top portrayals of Wayne / Ethan / Quinn, I thought right away, were nods to the OTT acting by Laurie Metcalf & Timothy Olyphant in the reveal / finale of Scream 2. And I wasn't crazy about that performance, either.
The most frustating thing about the scream franchise is that of how good it is, without all the freaking changes of all 6 films just how much better could it of all been
I still wish Quinn and Ethan mother went along with her husband in trying to kill the Carpenter sisters.

Huh? You mean Kirsch? Bailey was the fake name they went by lmao. Their real last name is Kirsch but couldn't go by that name for obvious reasons. Quinn was my fave and easily the craziest Kirsch Ghostface killer. Probably one of my favorite ghostfaces too and it's Liana 😍. Loved her callbacks to NOES and IKWYDLS. I just wish the final act wasn't so rushed and she had a good fight with Sam after it was teased.

I don't really mind some of the dialogue being cut. It just feels pointless that they killed their mom. We didn't know her and never saw her, so who cares? It's also maybe a bridge too far, like you're going to be upset about your brother and then kill your mom because she didn't think you should go on a revenge spree? Then when it comes to the Carpenter mom, it's just confusing. They're alluding to the stuff the audience doesn't know but the way it was written is sounds like we are supposed to. In terms of opening up plot points, it needs to be more showing and less telling. For example, Sam should have kept the mask at the end. That way, even if she's not in the next few movies, you could still have the thought in the back of your head that she might return as a twist and be a secret killer.

Carpenter sisters were a breath of fresh air in the franchise. Don't get me wrong, Scream 4 was good. But 5/6 were really good. The writing was excellent. But more importantly, the characters were developed well. I loved that Sam was on the brink of being a killer. I also liked that Tara was her opposite in a few ways. Sam is the dark, protective yet ambiguous. Tara is the opposite. Gutted that they won't be in Scream 7. But it's Spyglass loss. Their ignorance will be their undoing in the movie.
carpenter sisters were almost the worst characters in the entire franchise , only behind randies niece and nephew. Without there connection to billy and randy they are useless diversity characters
