    Thanks for the vids, always helpful! My method is to leave screen on press, lay an old setup shirt on pallet, place newspapers on top of shirt. Drop screen on pallet, as if ready to print, spray screen with screen wash, then while lifting screen slightly off pallet, scrub a bit with a scrubby sponge to loosen ink. Then simply squeegee the screen, leaving the ink to go through to the newspapers! Wipe off squeegee and clean up excess ink. Use more screen wash and finish up with screen opener for stubborn areas and final cleaning. This method actually cleans the squeegee and screen at the same time, simply wipe off squeegee afterward. I actually got the idea from reading the Sprayway 957 screen opener directions. Saves a lot of scrubbing, time and muscle.

    Great vid! Going to try putting the screen in between my pallets next time. I had a real stubborn screen that I left the masking tape on on the inside. any suggestions on how to get the adhesive from the tape off the aluminum portion of the screen?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  10 років тому

      @PulseMerch Thank you! Yeah use some solvent like you use for your ink or some paint thinner if needed. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate your support!

    Hello catspit! thanks for your vids! You have helped me a lot since I started screen printing. I have a question, I am printing a few shirts double sided with the same design but each shirt has a different color ink, after the fifth shirt I was cleaning the screen to change the color for the 6th time and the emulsion started coming off. I am using press wash, is it normal or could I be doing it wrong? What tips do you have?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  10 років тому

      Jesus Espinoza Escobosa That's great, thanks. Nice to know my videos help out. Maybe it's under exposed emulsion or make sure the emulsion is correct for the ink you are using. Also minimize ink changes by printing all of one color ink at the same time. Thanks for your support!

    Hey John. What do you mean by curing the ink before trashing it? Should we use a heat gun?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  6 років тому +2

      Plastisol ink is rubberized once fully cured. Then it's suitable for standard trash disposal. You can use whatever you have to cure it.

    So I learned this weekend that when ink mixed with the backside of painters tape, a sticky situation is to be had. smh. Should tape only be applied to the squeegie (sp) side, and not the print side?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  9 років тому

      LOL.... yes, that is true. I use regular masking tape a lot and it will do the same thing. But I don't take the tape off until I reclaim. That adhesive with ink will come right out with the pressure washer and solvent in the reclaiming process. But you can apply the tape on either side. It's a personal preference. Thanks for watching. can we used press wash and then use a diffrent color on the same screen or does it have to be washed out?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  10 років тому

      Yes, press wash is what you would use for color changes on press. Thanks for watching!

    Jonathan before you scrape off your squeegee , use it to pull all of the ink to the center of the screen makes clean up a breeze. You don't have to use the putty knife on the screen.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  10 років тому

      Woofnfish I find that the putty knife scrapes the ink off better than scooping it off witht he squeegee. I like to remove as much free ink as possible to make cleaning easier. Thanks for the suggestion as it may work well for some. And thanks for watching!

    • @Woofnfish
      @Woofnfish 10 років тому

      Next time I print I will post a video, I must not have explained it good enough for you . it really makes cleaning the screen much easier and gets 90% of the ink or more.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  10 років тому

      Woofnfish Sounds good because I don't see how a squeegee can remove ink better than an ink scoop. I have scooped ink of the screen with my squeegee before and it always leaves some behind for the scraper. But in the end if it works for you that's all that matters ;)

    Why did you do a on-the-press-wash instead of going to the wash out booth? I understand that you are going to reclaim the one and reuse the other, but why not wash out the one you are NOT going to reclaim? I have that really great blue block out tape and I usually just wash out and the tape sticks fine for more uses. So is it because the tape you use would come off?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  10 років тому

      No I don't use water with press wash in the washout booth. Water usually won't mix that well with press wash. The water and ink wash used in the washout booth is much more aggressive on the stencil. So when I reuse a screen I use press wash and a rag only in order to protect and care for the stencil. Thanks for watching!
