I recently started watching all of your videos starting with the first truck camping trip with your f150. I always thought you already had like half or a million followers back then, you're vids were all really professional and i would have never thought you only hit 100k by this video. You deserved waaay more even back then

I realize camping in the cold for winter sports/hunting etc., but as I grew older along with spending my life working outside.....I decided to chase 75 degrees as one old timer told me. You can't always hit the weather right, but you can make some educated guesses with technology and being flexible. Good luck Mav. I salute you for being an adventurer. All young people should get out there and have a great adventure and along the way, learn things you can't learn in school. You will be better for it. Hey Mav, I really like how you've got your rig set up. A place for everything and everything in its place. You are set for every type of weather . You have all your gear stashed and I believe you are ready for anything. Lots of good wishes my man.
This kid lives such a wholesome lifestyle. It makes me wish I grew up like him in Minnesota or canada (MN might as well be canada) and developed all of his knowledge. People often say he is living off his family's money...but I don't buy it. Even if he was, it doesn't matter. You can have all the money in the world, but without the knowledge, what could you accomplish? Not alot (unless you pay someone to do the work for you, which defeats the entire purpose of the experience). This kid doesn't smoke or drink, and I see him drink more water in one video than I've drank in the last decade (I drink Gatorade and coffee, no soda but G-rade has more sugar than I'd like). I love this kid. Wish I knew more people like him. He could survive an apocalypse. He's the type of person city boys will be needing to find when the world goes dark.

You’re the reason I turned my forester into a camper lol. I live in northern Illinois and it’s really boring around here with not to much “wilderness” so we take road trips down to gatlinburg and having the forester saves us a lot of money and some amazing places that we’ve stayed because of it

Keep the 4WD truck and switch topper to a mid-rise. That 4" increase in headroom will be magical. Sleep with that hat on so you don't need to tuck your head into your sleeping bag. Love the content Mav. I have learned a lot from your channel.
Being Canadian I knew how cold it was for you at the start of your video by the sound the snow was making. That crunching sound is etched in my brain forever lol

Some advice from a canuck , keep a snow brush with you or in your house. You don't t want to have to open your snow covered door to grab it out of the vehicle. All the snow falls in.
Best trick for winter camping is to boil a bottle of water for bed. Use a good sealing bottle like a Nalgene and keep it inside your sleeping bag or under the covers. I like to drink hot Gatorade when I'm camping so I'll throw some powdered mix in there sometimes, but sleeping with a hot water bottle at night is a clutch trick.

Hey mav trick I learned in the army...always wear your lightest clothes till you get cold then put a layer on by layer so you will be able to get warmer, if you start in your heaviest gear then there is nothing else that will warm you
Keep a set of bedtime clothes that are dry and clean and only wear them for sleeping. Makes a huge difference in staying warm. Clothes you wear all day have enough moisture to keep you cold. I also eat a snickers bar right before bed to get the natural body furnace going. If it's really cold throw a hand warmer in the bottom of your bag for just enough extra heat where you need it.
