£7.50 for three of these at Costco is costly, however they have to be imported from a long way again so it makes sense that they're this expensive. They are delicious.
I just bought both DFs yesterday at my local HyVee.. I'm going to try them later but it better blow my mind for how much they cost each!!. The yellow was about 8.50$ the red about 10$.. I got another one called, carambola?? I'm not a picky eater and these fruits look authentic pressing. Any hints on the best way to eat these fruits please let me know.. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put them in the fridge so they are cool or eat at room temperature? I can see how to cut it but what texture and taste am I looking for so I know if it's not ready or bad,!!? And maybe ideas on what to mix them like other fruits or whipped topping? Or with or add to certain dishes? 😊❤️ For example I'm also making fufu for the first time tonight but couldn't find the cassava tuber so I had to get organic Yams and 2 green finger plantains.. but would these fruits go good with fufu and soup or is this a dessert thing. Try them raw as is first, to best experience the fruit. Then they can also be added to smoothies, fruit salad, etc. I don't recommend these fruits for young kids, but that is really a question for your doctor.

It should be bright, all yellow, and a little give when you squeeze it. They don't ripen much after harvested, so most likely when you buy them at the store they will be the ripest as possible. They can continue to ripen a tiny bit on the counter, but not much.
Just had mine watching this video… It was very juicy and I could taste the sweetness, but it really didn’t have much flavor… I’m guessing it’s like a lot of fruits that if you pick it off the tree, it’s going to be 100 times better than getting one from the grocery store, that I’m sure arrived green and hard!

I don’t think dragon fruit are cheap if you can get em for 3-5 bucks your lucky I got a market they sell by case and I did math got it like 1.50 each a steel compared to regular price anywere from 3-10 for one

The one I show in this video when ripe will be all yellow and the flesh will be gray. Much sweeter. :) Either way, Dragon Fruits in general look cooler on the outside than they taste, haha.
Just because I don't say wash the fruit first in the video, doesn't I mean I didn't wash it. That is a given. :) But, it doesn't matter then much if the actual fruit is on the inside as it does with let's say an apple where you also are eating the skin.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt this is not true. Especially if the produce is grown with chemicals (EVEN if they’re organic). When you cut through with a knife you’re passing those chemicals AND/ dirt into the part you’re eating....

And I also said, that just because I don't mention pre-washing/rinsing your fruit, that it doesn't mean you don't have to do it. Sure there is always a chance of getting unwanted dust/dirt, chemicals on the inside of the fruit. When in doubt rinse/wash the outside.
Tried my first dragon fruit of my life and was very disappointed.. It was a pink one, and it had no flavor whatsoever! It's probably the most bland fruit I've ever had.

If there’s no cassava it’s not fufu it’s Amala or iyon (I don’t know how to spell it😅) there’s also one made of corn no hate just to inform you

@@Sar-ahG there are two main types of dragon fruit the one shown in this video and the one shown in this other video ua-cam.com/video/5-zK4-ewKuE/v-deo.html. Sounds like you had the latter. The one I show in this video when ripe will be all yellow and the flesh will be gray. Much sweeter. :) Either way, Dragon Fruits in general look cooler on the outside than they taste, haha.

Just because I don't say wash the fruit first in the video, doesn't I mean I didn't wash it. That is a given. :) But, it doesn't matter then much if the actual fruit is on the inside as it does with let's say an apple where you also are eating the skin.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt this is not true. Especially if the produce is grown with chemicals (EVEN if they’re organic). When you cut through with a knife you’re passing those chemicals AND/ dirt into the part you’re eating....
@@DN888-1 Reread my comment. I said it doesn't matter as much as it does with an apple for example. And I also said, that just because I don't mention pre-washing/rinsing your fruit, that it doesn't mean you don't have to do it. Sure there is always a chance of getting unwanted dust/dirt, chemicals on the inside of the fruit. When in doubt rinse/wash the outside.
I just ate one and it was really flavorless and bitter but it looked just like yours. I’m concerned.
Mmm, it sounds like it may not have been ripe. It definitely shouldn't be bitter and it should be sweet when ripe.

Tried my first dragon fruit of my life and was very disappointed.. It was a pink one, and it had no flavor whatsoever! It's probably the most bland fruit I've ever had.
Try the yellow one if you get the chance, it is so much better than the pink one, although it definitely doesn't look as cool.

Merry Christmas, Matt! For a treat, I gathered exotic fruits to share with the family. We would watch your video for the fruit before trying. You were a big hit! We tried Kumkwats, Red Dragon Fruit, Yellow Dragon Fruit, and Kiwano Melon. The Yellow Dragon Fruit was the crowd favorite.

@@thomasarcturus8947 So awesome!!! Yeah my Sprouts in Mesa, AZ is starting to have more and more exotic fruits! If you get the chance go to an Asian International Supermarket, not sure if they will have one in Tulsa, Denver for sure will have one. You will find all kinds of awesome exotic fruits to try, many of which I have reviewed here :) lol yeah, the Kiwano melon...looks so much better than it tastes. Although a little bit of salt makes it taste a little better. haha
