I love your adventure series. It's one thing to vlog on the streets, but I really enjoy watching the adventures through the desert and off roading. I am very envious. Can't wait for part two :)
man that's crazy when you got off the plane and I saw that resteraunf you were standing in front of...I was like is that batemansbay? I grew up there as a kid its an awesome little town. what did you think of it?
Hey Tom. You going to do the Safari Enduro this year? Swing by my place for a hoon through the Grampians - great dirt riding round these parts. I'm also looking to hook up with a few riders coming from Melbourne, as I plan on doing the ride across for the start at Streaky Bay, none of this transport-the-bike-and fly bullshit ;)
BMW have got it so right, keep dangling their bikes in the public eye and people will want to buy one. I think they're big bikes too, but would sell my three kids (with the wife thrown in for free) to have one and go on a trip like this! Another great "frickin" video Tom...
At 11:48 totally agreed with Tom. Once i shoot video of a hilly road on my bike and on video it looks like i am on a plane road. While i was filming i was planning to upload it on UA-cam, but after seeing it, i said HELL NO i am not uploading it.
Mark Vane-Tempest I'm only 20, in the UK we can't drive anything over 650 without a certain licence type (and 24). Plus I know that I'm going to fall, and the F800 would be a good beginning bike to take off-road. At least thats my thinking
King of UA-cam content variety does kicks off another series of awesome shit i'll probably never do :( At least I can live vicariously from my desk at work...
I've been debating between one of these big GS bikes or a smaller dirt bike, I'm leaning toward the GS because I need to be able to commute on it as well and there's few bikes as good for commuting as a big BMW. Can switch out wheels for some adv riding when I need to. What did you think? If you could have a cheap road bike AND a small dirt bike like a WR or DRZ, vs having one expensive do-it-all bike like the GS, what would you pick?
+MotörMerc If most of the riding is commuting with just a little adventure, I guess something like a GS, Vstrom, or even a DR650SE would be better. I personally have ridden around Australia in a WR250X, 8000km in 2 weeks, and the rest of the time commuted every day (but not 150 miles. More like 60 miles. Though once a week I worked a long way away and commuted about 200 miles on that day). You get used to it, the bike will do 155km/h, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. Bike now has 75,000km on it (only maintenance has been oil and filters, and 1 valve clearance check), but I'd only take this route if you wanted to go offroad regularly, and hit single trails and interesting, rough stuff.
tosgem thanks for the feedback! I'm in school still so once I graduate, I'll have to see what life is like as a working stiff and decide what I want to do. I would love a lighter, nimbler dirt bike so the two-cheaper-bikes might be the way to go.
I'm not much of an Adv/off-road guy (actually not at all.. at this stage) but this was fun to watch. Was nervous till the end that you'd bin it (not to underestimate your skills or anything but you were certain you would haha). Keep up the awesome vids and stay safe..
Great video Tom. So it's about time you bought your own 1200GS you just can't seem to stay away from them! and to the comment below - not a 20k, they're a $30,000 bike!!
this is way to easy where is the hard trails. grew up rideing the pole lines in cali on my wrf 250. could knock the pants off u guys. mud, sand Mt. hill climbs. wrf250 was a beast
Daniel Szewczak It usually does. Where I live you can rent a 1290 Superduke over the weekend for 150£, fully insured for crashes over 500£, and a mileage of 400 miles or something like that.
I wish I was as tall as everyone else, was at the Kawasaki dealer ship and I hopped onto a zx10r and I could barely fit :( can't imagine how big these are
+RidingWithTom yeah I'll find out when I move out when I'm older, I'm from Broken Hill. You came through here when you went to the Simpson and we didn't have any bike shops but we now finally have a Suzuki dealership here.
+Titan From Hell The problem with the GS is the only real reason to have one is for adventure riding, which is good if you are retired and like finding which small town in the middle of nowhere makes the nicest muffins. That or you want an upright bike, but even then, BMW makes the S1kXR which covers that. To be able to buy one you need to have a purpose for it, otherwise you won't be able to justify the purchase. That and you can buy a S1000R and a dirt bike for cheaper than the GS
That looks like a lot of fun. Can't wait for the next video.
Seriously, these types of videos make my entire week. So good Tom!
I wish we had these rides and possibilities in South Australia. It's my dream to be able to do adventure and enduro rides
Awesome Tom! Glad you got to experience this!! I'm looking forward to the continued parts
This really makes me want to do a GS Safari one day.
I could watch this for hours
I saw the start of this right outside my house in Kingscliff, was awesome to see them ride out
I love your adventure series. It's one thing to vlog on the streets, but I really enjoy watching the adventures through the desert and off roading. I am very envious. Can't wait for part two :)

Great video Tom, really enjoyed this. Keep up the good content.
Nice. Can't wait for more parts!
What a complete treat to get to do that BMW adventure and ride with all of those pros! I admit, I am a bit jelly:)
For some reason I quite enjoyed this, even though I'm all about the sportbike scene
+defjam213 RWT makes everything great xD
Check Out My Channel man
+ReaLzEdits He really does
Ugh, I rode a 1200GSA from Melb to Turkey via Finland a couple of years ago. God this makes me miss that bike.

Love the videos. Looked in the comments but didn't find what camera you're using, and where you've mounted it?
BMW have got it so right, keep dangling their bikes in the public eye and people will want to buy one. I think they're big bikes too, but would sell my three kids (with the wife thrown in for free) to have one and go on a trip like this! Another great "frickin" video Tom...
Adventure riding is a total blast! I'm all about the middle weights though. Love my Tiger 800! Looking forward to the rest of the vids.
Tom's next bike a GS ???
Love that GX at the end!
Favorite motovlogger by far Tom, watched this video like 5 times already :)
I wonder if that GS at the beginning with the screwed up forks was the beginning of their problems ???
"Ug, I'm in rain mode you dumb shit" - That killed me dude hahaha XD
I got a BMW F650GS and I got to say that you did really well. My bike has never made it past a Starbucks.
Man it must be awesome to be invited out to do this, congrats dude, the bike looks like a fun big brute of a thing.
What is your mic setup for your GoPro? Could you show us your camera gear setup?
This looked like the most fun you can have in the world
looking fwd to Pt 2 Tom
Top video Tom! From Adelaide, SA
At 11:48 totally agreed with Tom. Once i shoot video of a hilly road on my bike and on video it looks like i am on a plane road. While i was filming i was planning to upload it on UA-cam, but after seeing it, i said HELL NO i am not uploading it.

Hi Tom,
were looking at a new helmet cam while riding our GSA, what set up do you use as the video and audio look great
looks like a lot of fun!
Tom! Were there any g310gs in the training?
9:32 "It´s like taking a house of road" LOL. hahahaha
I'm very happy with my wimpy little wr250r dual sport adventures for now, but someday... Nice bikes, great video
Nice one mate. That video was awesome. Can't wait for second part :)
have u fallen down from the bike during ride ?
I LOVE THOSE BIKES SO MUCH! Adv's are amazing! I can't wait to start riding, first port of call is the F800 gs hopefully...
+HMSDaring1 I had the 800GS for 4 yrs and 35,000 klms. Buy a second hand 1200 instead. After 2010 model.
Mark Vane-Tempest I'm only 20, in the UK we can't drive anything over 650 without a certain licence type (and 24). Plus I know that I'm going to fall, and the F800 would be a good beginning bike to take off-road. At least thats my thinking
Would one of these be good for riding right around Aussie? So 20k+ km
King of UA-cam content variety does kicks off another series of awesome shit i'll probably never do :(
At least I can live vicariously from my desk at work...
Just woow:-) How big is that bike... :-)
if you off roading..do you prefer your abs to be on or off?
which is better?
Great vid 👍 who was the BSB rider just out of interest ? Glad somebody else has done a decent video of the Safari trip ...
Love these gs adventure vids man
Where is this ? whats teh track called ?
can we have part 2 now pls dude?

I would pick a WR or Drz, they ARE a do it all bike
tosgem I do about 150+ mi a day commuting with luggage, not sure that will work with a supermoto.
+tosgem 8000kms in two weeks? That's like 500km a day, good lord!
God dammit Tom.. i live in England so i woke up especially to watch this
I'm not much of an Adv/off-road guy (actually not at all.. at this stage) but this was fun to watch. Was nervous till the end that you'd bin it (not to underestimate your skills or anything but you were certain you would haha). Keep up the awesome vids and stay safe..
"Oh I'm in rain mode you dumb shit" that made my day
Another Adventure Whooo! Go Tom!
Those bikes are so insane. What would happen if you wrecked a $20,000 BMW?
+kory bleu haha that bike I was on is $30k+ and you'll have to keep watching to see what would happen if I destroyed it!
+RidingWithTom Damn that's more than a brand new chevy camero
bmw doesn't care about destroyed motorcycles- they have enough GSes
All the paper work is filled out before hand.
+RidingWithTom wauchope mitre 10?
How much did this trip coast you?
Hey Tom when was the last time you wrecked a motorbike?
+Glue Stikce only ever stacked once on the track with my supermoto
Long time ago im guessing
when are you going to buy one then tom they look fucking awesome fun
I love these videos maybe you should get a gs if you love that bike so much
Awesome, loved it! Can't wait for part 2! :)
Wow, so weird seeing you in the video on streets that i have walked down
Walked down those streets back in the 80's. Been back in pommie land for around 26 years now.
Great video dude.
what bike was that at the end
BMW G450X
the wheel on that bike on the trailer at 1.20
Great video Tom. So it's about time you bought your own 1200GS you just can't seem to stay away from them! and to the comment below - not a 20k, they're a $30,000 bike!!
He's already got 4 bikes. I don't think he wants anymore.
he can sell a couple and keep the best - 1200 & a 690
this is way to easy where is the hard trails. grew up rideing the pole lines in cali on my wrf 250. could knock the pants off u guys. mud, sand Mt. hill climbs. wrf250 was a beast
is there any companies that rent out tadventure bikes....i want to try before i buy next year
Your local dealership probably loans bikes for roughly 150£ a weekend. Most bike dealerships offer that.
+Phelicitas ill have a look into it...I doubt that covers insurance though
Daniel Szewczak It usually does. Where I live you can rent a 1290 Superduke over the weekend for 150£, fully insured for crashes over 500£, and a mileage of 400 miles or something like that.
+Phelicitas cheers for that I'll check out the beemer dealer in Perth soon.
I wish I was as tall as everyone else, was at the Kawasaki dealer ship and I hopped onto a zx10r and I could barely fit :( can't imagine how big these are
Why don't you do UA-cam full time?
+Blake Vella Australia is an expensive place to live, the money I make from UA-cam would barely pay my insurance for my bikes
+RidingWithTom yeah I'll find out when I move out when I'm older, I'm from Broken Hill. You came through here when you went to the Simpson and we didn't have any bike shops but we now finally have a Suzuki dealership here.
84 is older than you? Hahaha, ugh, I used to be the young one.. now I am old.
Taking a house off-road.
you make it look so easy man
weres the s 1000 rr man
Thought you said my name in the intro lmao
Hey tom. Can anyone participate in bmw GS Safari?
that looks fun
I really wanna know who the British superbike rider was?
Currently buffering at 144p
What do you do for a living besides youtube?
+Ethan Graser He does IT
start doing vlogs tom
Off roading? Looks like a road to me.
Humm a Safari..
Ok..I've seen the elephants.. where are the adventures bikes?
RidingWithTom hello
Christ, those bikes are crazy. Twelve Fucking Hundred.
5:30 let's turn off a perfectly good road...
If you want one buy one. What's stopping ya? ;)
+Titan From Hell The problem with the GS is the only real reason to have one is for adventure riding, which is good if you are retired and like finding which small town in the middle of nowhere makes the nicest muffins.
That or you want an upright bike, but even then, BMW makes the S1kXR which covers that.

That and you can buy a S1000R and a dirt bike for cheaper than the GS
+cheeseypie5555 I'm not retired and I love adventure riding. That's why I ride a GS.
