I believe these are a pod of Southern Residence feeding on salmon as they do, almost exclusively. There are 74 left among us. Thanks for posting!! I am always looking for great Orca encounters and this one is stellar. I live in Anacortes and am learning to be a proficient sea kayak paddler, in great part to enhance my chances of an intimate encounter such as this one you (and your YT viewers!) were blessed to have at Pt. Townsend.
This is great. Interspecies interaction and communication. They have been trying to "talk" to us for a long time. It's like the Orca family was saying, "Hey there. How's it goin. Let's play!" It's a wonderful thing to be able to interact with these incredible, intelligent creatures. I wish it was me 😂!
This definitely looks like they're feeding. Especially considering how close to shore they are. And there's a calf there too and if they weren't feeding the calf's tend to be curious and a bit reckless. I was getting nervous at how close to shore they are and hoping they wouldn't beach themselves. Beautiful footage of the most beautiful creatures of the world. Thanks so much for sharing 💕
These are beautiful and majestic animals. This is where they all belong being free. Forget sea world if you want to see a show come out to their habitat and enjoy .
While in California back in 2019 I saw Sea World and refused to go purchase a ticket never but did consider going out on the boats that take u out for whale or orca watch.
Im from Everett area but went near Joyce in the Summer and got to see some whale im not too sure what species it was but it was massive he seemed to be breaching very cool expiremce🙂
Northern Residents in Vancouver Canada do that. Southern Residents oddly, dont engage in that same behavior. Looks to be just a social gathering in shallow water.
Nah, it’s not too far, about a 2hr drive, maybe a little more. It’s kind of rare to see them that close to shore. You’d have better luck heading out to the San Juan Islands or scouring the Queen Charlotte Sound and Puget Sound.
Their posturing their tail slapping their very social what I think's going on here is they see the people on the bank I think they're inviting them into the water to swim with them I've noticed this happens in a lot of videos where people are in the water or on paddle boards and stuff like that and orca or following they do tail slap they spin around they swim around them I think they want to swim with you
The Southern Resident pods and the local transients dont use rubbing beaches. The SRO are strictly salmon hunters and the biggs orca hunt seals and porpoise. Neither ecotypes hunt sting ray, only the New Zealand orcas hunt those.
Actually it’s rare that they attack in the wild , being captive aka seaworld they get psychosis and that’s why they attack humans or even commit suicide
Cetaceans are a federally protected species. Swimming with them is illegal and you can be arrested and fined for it. Especially if the pod was the endangered Southern Residents.

This is amazing! I always wanted to go there and see something like this, maybe next year. Thanks for sharing!
So beautiful, and live free in the wild, I hope this year I can go and see them,
wild and free where they should be
Beautifully said!
Wow that is so close to shore.
This video deserves way more views imo.

@@CBrown9758 I just feel so bad for all those poor animals forced to do all they have to do etc it truly breaks my heart
I lived in Washington for 18 years never saw one Orca.... very privileged to experience this.... you must be special people.....

@@littlepetkingdome7492 maybe humpback or Grey whale.
I live near Joyce during the summer…I hope to see something amazing like that someday, with any luck! Wow 😮
They are rubbing their bellies against the stones near the shore. Orcas in that area of the world are known to do that💯
Northern Residents in Vancouver Canada do that. Southern Residents oddly, dont engage in that same behavior. Looks to be just a social gathering in shallow water.
@@CleverClover2023 I heard they do it to scrape off parasites on the stones.
This was my thought as well. I don't think the orcas care where they do it so long as the pebbles feel right.
@@charlesmartin1121 my cousin Gary does this. It's also cause of parasites.
@@pornsakpongthong1092 You need to get Gary to the vet. Haha.
Wow, what a spectacular video, thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous creations ❤️
Thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!
This is amazing!
They were so close to shore. Very curious about the people there, maybe?
@Brix Broox The Southern Residents dont use rubbing beaches. only the Northern pods do.

JUST AWESOME!!!!
Having a belly rub or stingray lunch?

They look like they were hunting something maybe a school fish.
maybe they want to snatch a child
They're not Democrats
Like the little mermaid, I wonder if killer whales wish they could have legs to go on land and meet people.
Well, technically they do have legs. They're just vestigial and none functional :P
Our ancestors greeting us my friends
They are hunting !
They are not being friendly. They are hunting for food. And you guys were too close and looked yummy.
Actually it’s rare that they attack in the wild , being captive aka seaworld they get psychosis and that’s why they attack humans or even commit suicide
You’d get more views if you went swimming .
Oceans are dying from
I would go to swim with them.
