Could you go into depth on the 360 camera, including how well it displays the surrounding area when pulling into or out of a parking spot where the driver’s vision is blocked by other vehicles.
Great deep dive into the system. So you did an overall review, deep dive into the OS...what else is planned for the i4? Will you be doing a range test? I think you have the 20" wheels? I'm wondering what the real world range is. I saw Edmunds did one and found the numbers conservative. I hope you guys do one too!
@@kartikk127 Yes, smaller tires/wheels do get the better range...and hope they do a real world test of the 20" using their testing methods. It would be interesting to see how Out of Spec compares to Edmunds results. The 227 rated for the 20" seems conservative which is usually the case with German vehicles. Great deep dive. I’ve noticed a recurring bug. Can you do me a favor and hook up your iPhone to CarPlay and while listening to Sirius XM or the FM radio open up CNN on your phone while you’re listening to the music. For some reason the system is buggy and Your music cuts out, oddly Waze appears on the screen. I believe it’s a bug with Apple CarPlay and the interface with these vehicles as it seems to happen on other cars as well. So frustrating. When listening to the vehicle media Like SiriusXM or the radio, often anytime you touch the screen on your phone and change it maybe take a look at Instagram it will knock the radio off and when you go back it starts playing Apple Music or iTunes. So frustrating! Just wondering if you might notice that and suggest a fix?
BMW’s ‘preconditioning’ is for the cabin AND the battery… but only for the battery if it is plugged into an EVSE. Has been this way since the i3 from 2014. I find it amusing how so many things are described as ‘new’ when they’ve been around for 8 years already… :-/
I don’t think it matters if you charge at 5 or 10 kW at home. Will that even trigger the cooling fans? I was thinking more like, if you’re on a road trip and want to get to your destination asap. It’s passed midnight, you have to DC fast charge, and all of a sudden your charging speed is restricted because of this setting..
9:13 Yeah, if you put the car in Sport Mode, the Live Vehicle display will give you power, rpm, and battery temperature. In Comfort Mode, the same screen will give you a trip odometer and how much energy you've recovered through the brakes (reset when you zero out the trip odometer).
@Out of spec Reviews Hi, I received my i4 M50 on Tuesday, and one thing I am noticing in all of the reviews is that on the drivers display there is the M icon in the top left corner. Now, for some reason I do not have that icon up there? Does anybody know if it is a part of a package or should it be there
Good video thanks. You were commenting on your climate control doing weird things and the fan blowing randomly. I am a huge BMW fan. I just ordered my fourth one however, BMW climate controls suck, especially for warmer climates. I live in South Florida and the air conditioning is terrible.
Good thing but my problem is BMW should at least show all their CHARGING location and easy for BMW drivers, easy like TESLA, Tesla already did it and show how great their mapping and charging station show on map, automatically pick best charger and show, why can't BMW do that?
Yet another "deep dive" that does not demonstrate how to manage the audio in the car. Meaning: what does it look like to search for a radio station. How does one manage SiriusXM? Can i have several favorite sound sources? What does it look like? How about my Apple playlists; how do I find those? How do i select from the list? Will "What's up, i4" search my playlists. What about Spotify? Jordan, I like your vids but how about a "deeper" dive?
Legacy OEM Software is still stuck in the early 2000s, just with better graphics. Menu flow is based on ancient "tree structure flow", very annoying. Software interfaces, in 2022, should be designed to anticipate your potential desires based on your most likely circumstances and display choices with the least steps needed as possible. Hard to watch this UX integration, feels like MicroSoft requiring way too much interaction from the user.
Great review, but you skipped how god awful the GPS and the route planning is. There is no customization of the map look, and the route planning does not provide a seamless route charging plan like if you were driving from Denver to Las Vegas. It shows you chargers along the way, but not when and where to stop in order to make the drive more efficiently. I sat in an iX50 today to play with the iDrive system since I was able to secure an iX50 for myself for a mid-June delivery. If BMW does not update the route planning there will be a lot of confused owners.

iDrive 8 is a TOTAL FAIL. No more favorite / shortcut buttons = no sale. I get it's a simplification and cost cutting measure on their end. But if I'm paying $70+K for a car, they can afford to put some FREAKING BUTTONS in there -- sorry. I'm not navigating through a UI menu structure every time I want to adjust my bass and treble.
