hey everyone, this is my first reaction video EVER! hope you enjoy!! have you listened to RTJ4 yet? what'd you think? what is your favourite album to come out in 2020 so far?
I had made a long comment talking about stuff I'd gotten recently. 2020 album...Inwards : Bright Serpent is my latest favorite of the year. I won't go into everything else I had said since I gotta run
hope you make more reactions/reviews in the future! it's so refreshing to see a girl of a similar age to me with a sick music taste in the youtube music community!!
Yo great reaction. Full stop. I love watching this because I wanna go back to the first time I heard this album. And you fuckin nailed it. ATLiens represent.
It's nice to finally see someone doing a reaction / review to this album that actually gives criticisms and doesn't just dance to and that say each song was equally amazing. You just earned a like and a subscriber!
Very nice reaction video! I loved the feeling you displayed and this album made me go back to their RTJ3 album and I listened to that even more. Keep this up 😁
So strange (and fun) that one person's favorite can be another's least favorite. I liked 'Just' best on my first listen :) Awesome album though, the second half is just brutally dark and brilliant.
I just found this video by random recommendation and I am glad I did. You are clearly someone who appreciates the power of music and can enjoy it for what it is and the underlying meanings. Subbed.
I just got the download of this album two days ago and need to give it a listen! My vinyl version won't come in until September! I enjoyed what I heard in the video! This was fun! All the best!
I have not listened to hip-hop music for along time and this album makes me want to get into it! I particularly like Walking in the snow, it's so good.
It’s hip hop but also so much more than that, that’s what makes it so great. What albums are you particularly thinking of getting back into or trying out?
Great review! Appreciate how you cut the video up by song, that's really helpful! I think it's kinda funny that your least favorite song on the album (Ju$t) is my favorite! Love this album, I think it's their best one yet!
@@kirawasadiver I think that Ju$t makes people uncomfortable, but it holds a very important message. We're all slaving away for a dollar, a dollar that holds the pictures of slave masters on it.
This whole album is a TV show called "Yankee and the Brave" according to El-P. Great artistic approach in my opinion. It is like a philosophical blockbuster lol
I just learned a new word: omnious-a word that sounds like ominous; similar to other malapropisms like stanima (stamina), and expecially (especially). Ps. Love your reaction
oh my god hahahahah please don't remind me - you post something online and it's here forever. i just wish someone corrected me in person before i filmed this video!! and thanks glad you liked it!!
I may have all soli efforts from El-P and many of his produced albums from other artists. My fav. hiphop-producer, always innovating, you should check out his discography.
I keep seeing these protests in Australia and wonder if I will see YOU! It's fascinating to see the entire world getting involved and in each country there's examples locally that are similar to what happens in America.
I wasn't able to make it! i'm also living with some family members that i don't want to expose to the virus if i can help it so trying to stay home as much as possible. lots of people i know were at the protests though!!
yea thinking about it more - i have a very specific taste for my music sonically, and i reckon JU$T just veers too far away from it. it's very laid back in sound, stripped back with not a lot of grit to it. i like RTJ production for the grit.
Enjoyed your reaction. Please, consider reviewing an album by rapper Freddie Gibbs, "Bandana". The full album is pure 🔥🔥🔥 There is a track featuring Killer Mike, called "Palmolive" that I feel You'll really enjoy.
yes i want to! but i already listened to it a few times now, and only got the idea to capture my first reaction when RTJ4 dropped. i will review every new rap album i'm excited about from now!
@@kirawasadiver Fantastic! Let us know if you're willing to review "classic" rap albums! I'm sure we have some great suggestions if you're up to it! Thank- You for replying!
I have about zero rap/hip hop. I guess punk like Husker Du, Dead Kennedys or NoMeansNo kinda filled that space for me. Also jazz like Archie Shepp and so many others. Not to mention all the great reggae dee jay stuff that all this kind of music seems to be based on. Eek-A-Mouse, Yellowman, and a zillion more. Anyways...if I were to get something like THIS album this one would be a good choice. Oh yeah..The Last Poets! The originators! A radical high school teacher of mine played their first album in class! San Pedro High.
rap has been described as the NEW PUNK for the currently younger generation, filling that space that punk did for older generations it seems like. honestly, a lot of rap is not my thing, for instance the very popular trap music, however there are some hip hop/rap artists out there that i think are producing some of the most interesting and groundbreaking music of the current day - RTJ being one of those acts of course. The Last Poets! The Grandfathers of hip-hop????
@@kirawasadiver More or less, along with Gil Scott-Heron and his album "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" which that teacher played also. They sound rather primitive compared to what is done today, but that stuff is certainly the roots. Archie Shepp has a new project with a much younger relative that is hip hop meets jazz thing that sounds good to these ears. Archie is 80! He's with Raw Poetic and you can find it on UA-cam. A few recommendations...Archie Shepp : Scag, Marion Brown : Karintha, New York Art Quartet : Black Dada Nihilismus. All 3 are poetry and jazz and pretty interesting stuff that is here on UA-cam. Song For Mozambique by Shepp is a fine one also.
Happy that you didn't like JU$T that much. I think vs. the rest of the tracks, it was a real let down. Pharrell's hook is pretty boring and Zach really only has like two good lines. The song is super preachy against the rest of the album, which comes off as counterproductive IMO. Solid reaction and review though!
legit i agree, i'm going to give it a few relistens but i'm not sure man. you're one of the few in the comments to agree with me about it - everyone seems to love it!
George Floyd. This tragedy is just one more in such a LONG list of them. This time the murder so completely filmed and seen by the world should hopefully cause some changes to be made. To me this murder seems premeditated. Mr. Floyd was in the patrol car. All that should have happened is to be taken to the station and booked. Why was he removed from the car, laid on the ground and killed!? I think that cop knew Floyd and decided to just kill him. Probably banking on the fact that in American history so many cops have gotten away with murder. Another idea of mine is that he wanted to start civil unrest in the nation. Like Manson's "Helter Skelter" scenario. George Floyd will not be forgotten.
It’s affected the entire world. It’s sparked protests all across Australia, in solidarity with the first owners of the land - aboriginals. The colonisation of Australia is something that white Australians love to brush under the rug and forget about the devastating affects its had on the aboriginal community. I’ll be making a video soon showing some love for aboriginals and talking about how I need to actively learn more about Australia’s own racism!!
@@kirawasadiver I'll be looking forward to that video. Of course the white people settling in America killed off millions of Native Americans. They are still treated terribly and many live in poverty. Covid-19 is spreading through some of their reservations...the Navajo are in the worst shape. I live in a region where there's a reservation and they are relatively well off and don't have all the issues of other tribes. There's still problems with alcohol and drugs. Fetal alcohol syndrome is too frequent. Even with all that, that group do better than most.
Hey mistery-ed! Well, i have completed the move, however, we still haven't set up internet at the new place!! so i'm staying at my mum's temporarily with very little books and vinyl on hand.
