i actually find balancing revision and homework so difficult, my college is well known for setting extremely high amounts of work. being a year 13 is so difficult and unfortunately i've had a huge family trauma (member of family has died) so i've completely lost my motivation, i just can't find myself enjoying my work. thanks so much for this video, you always make me smile even when i've lost my ability to want to work. can you maybe do a video about how to cope with issues/how to stay motivated? i was also wondering how much work you're planning to do over easter. i don't want to burn out before june!! hope you're doing well xx
I am going through the same thing right now... I read your comments and got tingles, because my situation is the same, just a year later and an ocean apart Do you have any tips? It is so hard right now after missing days
Oh my goodness literally yesterday I was worrying about how much work I do in comparison to my friends, and other people, and other schools... Thank you for reassuring me that it's making a routine that's more important, because it's so easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others. Thanks for another great video, and this has motivated me to get on with what I need to!
Also, about saying how long studies are, if I'm gonna study for nine hours straight it's not because I'm hardworking, it's because I'm really fucking behind 😂
I have like severe ADD so I can only physically sit myself down for like 30min, maybe 45 on a good day. Then I walk all around my house, go up and down the stairs a couple of times (takes about 2 minutes) and then I get back to work. It's realllly effective
this is from so long ago but honestly as someone who's autistic i find i have to pace ( as a way of stimming) on those five minute pomodoro breaks. there's just no other way i can then sit down for another thirty, forty minutes. i've come to terms with needing more breaks, and trying not to compare myself to others who are able to study for longer straights.
Blurting what I can remember and then filling in the gaps using flashcards and writing in a different coloured pen on the mind map really helps me revise a topic! It's quite quick as well so I find it extremely productive
Jade this is a fantastic video! You have a brilliant and refreshing perspective. Time away from studying and short productive bursts are so important. I write this aged 30 as someone who studied 12 hour days for A Levels and burnt out. Only now do I see your viewpoint. You've such a mature philosophical head on you - you rock!! You'll thrive whichever uni you go to xx
Awhh Shannon, I'm glad! 😉 and YES, I feel you! Thank youuu - it was honestly such an amazing event! I love going to things that have such an amazing underlying cause ✨ xx
I actually needed this so much! I’ve seen myself gradually becoming obsessed with trying to revise non-stop for this English literature exam that was moved to a year earlier (thanks for that, school!😤) but while trying to train 20 hours a week as a national swimmer my life has become very stressful. Your videos genuinely do help me to put things in perspective and balance my life. Thanks for the help jade! Xx
THANK-YOU! i admit i am one of those people who had negatively compared to the hour length titles of study videos. I would love to say i'm not and, in many ways, these videos help me. But i am with you on the "quality over quantity." I also find i have more unconventional ways of studying, that don't necessarily fit a mould. . I'm at uni and i don't like working in the library, i'd much rather go to a coffee shop! Some people may instantly associate the library with productivity/doing more, but i dont' work as well in that environment, it makes me more anxious and "constrained" when i free write. It's SO personal and it's about finding what works for YOU. Thank-You for this :)
Thanks for this Jade- it's good to hear someone say it! I know that I always feel like I should be doing more, but I also have a ton of music practice to do that's also really important to me. Plus I'm in IB, so I not only have to manage schoolwork, but also a ton of extra reading and research for history as well as my extended essay, and on top of all that there's CAS- Creativity, Activity, Service- basically activities we do that help us achieve goals and have a life outside the IB work. I'm also currently working on 4 different events- one that I'm organising for my CAS project, one that I'm co-ordinating the volunteer group, one that I'm just volunteering at, and one that I'm singing at. So yeah- life is crazy! I find that the pomodoro method works really well for me, but I can never do more than 2 at a time. 😂
Awh Jade, I love that you’re so positive and smiley, you make me smile too, thanks for putting time to make this video. I’ll follow on from your tips! Maybe a video on how to balance school work and free time?
Been having a really rough week and I’m so happy to see a new video! ☺️ This was such a great topic to discuss, I always find it so hard to know when to just stop working 🙈😭💜
I like that you mentioned staying on top of your subject and try to understand them because in the past when I find a topic hard I would dismiss it instead of dealing with it thinking I would get it on its own. But when exams came I realised I never understood it and things get on top of you by then. In the future I am definitely spreading my work this way
Amazing video. I'm in year 7 and I do homework for an hour and organise my work for 15 minutes. If I've got tests I revise for and additional hour. I only do this 4 days out of a week though.
this is such an interesting video which goes deeper into the amount of time spend surrounding revising / studying. thank you Jade, again a very motivational video in many ways 💞. X
Thank you so much Julia! I RELATE! Despite the fact the workload and pressure may be building, remember that you can only do your best! 💘 lots of love xx
Thank youu soo much for this Jade! I'm constantly comparing how much work I do with my friends because they get better grades! And most days I don't feel motivated at all! Soo I'll be sure to continue to watch this whenever I start comparing myself to others and also for motivation! You're soo beautiful and inspiring Jade! Thank you! 💖
I think it’s also important to realise that your situation will change how much you can do. For example, if you’re a young carer you obviously will not have all the time that jade has so don’t feel bad
I totally agree, it's really important to study productively rather than to burnout over 5-10 hours. My exams start next week and I'm currently studying around 3 hours per day after-school to revise (I'm still in the 10th grade). During exam season I always prioritize studying over after-school activities. This video was very motivational and insightful. Thank you!!💜
This was really comforting, it’s so stressful hearing people at school being like “I revised solidly until 1am” or “I only take 5 minute breaks” or “I haven’t been out in 3 weeks because I’ve been revising” and I’m here like... I go to bed at half 9 every night and spend a lot of my spare time reading rather than revising but like I’ve never failed an exam before so you’re right in that you shouldn’t compare yourself. Maybe what they do is what they need to do well but my way has worked for me so far.
Awww thanks Jade! My guilty pleasure is comparing myself to everyone and everything! This video has really helped myself understand ‘revision’ and how much to do! Thanks, keep up the good work !!!!!!
Thank you so much for this helpful video once again, Jade! This helped a lot and now I think I've got my foundation set on how to get things done better. Your advice was really beneficial and now my mind's gotten clearer :)
Hi, Jade, I am in my Year 9, and currently homeschooled. i am in IGCSE course, and it's hard to keep up with all the lessons, but you are my huge inspiration and had always cheered me through my difficult times and motivated me strongly. I love you so much, xoxo
Been feeling so stressed and anxious about how much revision I should be doing for GCSEs - this video really calmed be down and made me feel more motivated - thanks Jade! xx
Something I really struggle with that hasn't been addressed is what do you actually do when you revise/ I know you have to find your own way of revision but I don't even know what there is except revision cards?! ! Love your videos by the way.
Aha! Joke's on you, I don't HAVE a social life!!! 😁😀😅😓😳😞😥 Seriously though, this was a really helpful video. I agree that by getting into the habit of working, it stops being a chore buuuut I really need to spend less time doing work and be a bit more efficient!
I have to agree with what you said about not focusing too much about the hours spent when revising. I am currently revising for my mocks (im in year 12) and I have gone from "im gonna spend an hour revising Biology" to "Im gonna recap this specific chapter in biology and do practice questions" where its more focused on the content then the time taken. Whether it takes me 30 minutes, an hour or more thats not what matters just as long as I acheived my target for the revision session
I thought that having a break after doing homework was wrong because I had to continue to study, but with your video I understand a lot of things!Thank so much and greetings from Italy!
So helpful ! I do well in school but I struggle with really using my time productively and focusing for short periods instead of getting distracted and prolonging the process. I’m really working to change this as I am heading towards my leaving cert course (equivalent of A levels) sooo.... really appropriate video ahhhg, as always thank u x x x
This was so needed! I’m doing AS levels and I’m such a procrastinator, literally anything distracts me and I never know how much to revise so this was useful xx
I literally struggle with motivation so much, yet I still love watching you because your nature is just so lovely. anyone is so lucky to be your friend x
Thank you for this, my mocks are up in a month and I’m so stressed because everyone has started revision but I’m jsut trying to get through this weeks exams. Thank you so much ❤️
Quality matters over quantity !! Love you Jade !!!! You are one of the most realistic UA-camr I have ever met ! Seriously I am so thankful that I subscribed to your channel and found you !!! ✨😆🌹
Thank you so much Jade! I've been quite stressed about exams starting soon because I can't help but compare my revision to other people, and freak out over how much they're doing compared to me and how they're revising! Hopefully I'll stop doing that hahah. Your videos are so so helpful though xxx
Never assume! Not been a student for 15 years but love watching your videos when I'm doing housework as they're so positive and upbeat 😂 you promote a wonderful attitude towards life 👍
Hey! ❤️ So I suppose UA-cam is my main little extra curricular haha, but I also volunteer with disabled kids, horse ride and do a lot of running and yoga in my spare time! x
Could you do a video on how to start revising when you've stopped for a long time, kind of like the video that Eve posted recently, but with your own tips. Also, love your videos, they remind me of the need to revise (unfortunately my brain is just dead after my mocks and I can't start back up again)
Hope you enjoyed the Lancaster applicant day! I go to sixth form in Lancaster and couldn’t recommend the uni or place enough! Lancaster is in such a perfect location to get about to major cities, with it having a fab rail network, and with it being a smaller city it just has a love,y community feeling! (The only one thing is it that it rains a lot here up north ahah!) xx
you're so spontaneous and you make it all sound so normal and positive :)) you really are an example and listening to you really relaxes me and puts me in the right mindset :))
I was genuinely GUTTED when I heard this morning! What a genuine legend, both personality-wise and through the ingenious contributions he made to the world of science. 💛✨
Dorkie151 just make sure you don't stress yourself out! SATs are important now but don't worry too much because once you get higher up they're not overly important
ngl although they primary school teachers make them out to be important, year 6 sats aren’t really. They’re more for the school’s reputation and to give your secondary school a ROUGH example of what you can achieve. You’ll be re-tested as soon as you get into secondary and put into new sets, so don’t stress too much x
Sats are important because secondary schools use them to determine sets, often over actual exams, if you do bad, you get put in bad sets and it hinders your abilities at gcse, don’t worry about them but certainly don’t listen to the rest of the comments and revise 100%
Sure number of hours shouldn't outweigh quality of study, but where it can be useful is when you are not sure what works for you.Sometimes you naturally gauge what works for you when you are tethered to a chair and table for eternity. Use it to frame what works for you. Unless you glue yourself to your seat and test your thresholds ,you lose out on what works for you even though you have less concentration by the 3rd hour. Sometimes the times you hit low levels of concentration is when you should push on. There is some benefit to light reading when you hit a lull .So if your 3rd hour is when your concentration wanes, then do what I call 'Novel reading' , like you would read a bed-time story or less intense reading of your texts. You may amaze yourself at what you gain by it. Golden rule though, never sacrifice sleep. I know this video is mainly centered around schoolwork. Post graduate is different ,and you will be required, depending on what degree you are in, to read as many text books as you can, even latest journal articles ,and you can't only be reading when you are at the pinnacle of focus nor would you have the luxury of time. Yes must have great focus, but sometimes its what you do when you are switching off that separates you from the jones'.
I loved this video! There is too much focus on the length of studying rather than the quality! But I just have one question; if you go to bed after 9 p.m and you wake up at 5 a.m, that’s less than 8 hours of sleep (which is the recommended hours of sleep). Do you feel well-rested in the morning? I’m someone who NEEDS at least 8 hours of sleep so I have to go to bed before 9 p.m (I’ve started waking up at 5 a.m because of your video about it!). This was a very long and meaningless comment, but I hope you can make sense of it and answer my question:) Good night!
Couldn’t agree more & just what I needed, I love study UA-cam and I subscribe to loads of amazing UA-camrs but as you said so many videos are set into hours which really stresses me out about GCSEs etc so it was so nice to have this video. ❤️❤️❤️
Just what I needed!!! Thank you!! Could you do a GCSE advice and tips video? I'm taking my GCSEs in the summer and I'd love some tips! Love you Jade, you're such an inspiration
I cant stretch how much i LOVEEEE this channel and your videos and you. You are such a smart beautiful amazing person who inspires people and makes them better.
Smash it as always! Btw, today is my result day 😭 Thankyou for being with me throughout my exam year which since last year. *we graduated our highschool at 17. Thank you, Jade for sharing your tips and tricks which sooooooo helpful you never know how much it meant to me. eventho not all of your tips i can go along because my brain is not like yours but by seeing you with your hardcore determination to study harder, really encouraged me to do better in studies and life. i'm not that type of person who likes to compliment someone but to you, i have to. p/s : To Malaysian Students out there, I know some of you guys are here. I want to wish you guys the best of luck for SPM. We got this! 💪
I’m in year 9 and was wondering if it’s ok not to do work every day as I don’t have big exams coming up. Also please could you do a video explaining what to do in younger years (like year 8&9) to help your future self in older years studying for GCSEs and a levels :) hope that makes sense and great video Jade! x
Lilly May in year 9, as long as you do homework, revision time doesn’t really matter. Make sure you revise for each mini- test, and check that your notes are accurate and useful! It’s fine to not spend every day revising- year 9 is a really chill year to make sure that you build confidence in and outside of school ❤️
year 12 person here and i'd say enjoy year 9 as much as you can, because it's basically your last year before proper exam stuff starts happening! you definitely don't need to work every day, but like AstroAlex said, keeping up with work is super useful and your future self will thank you! all the best for the rest of year 9
I wouldn’t worry about year 9. Don’t stress over anything as what you’re doing now isn’t important. Don’t push yourself now as it’s not required until later years. As a year 10, I believe that I should’ve taken year 9 easier. Chill out. As long as you’re doing homework and the occasional revision, you don’t need to be working everyday.
I personally procastinate too much. I learn everything in the morning, an half hour before the lessons start and I made a part of my homework in the recreation. I have to study more to have a better rythm of life or just spend my afternoon hours on better activities than UA-cam because with studying I could make my grades better. On average I have 1.3 (1 is the best, 6 the worst) and I could make so much better grades I love your channel because you inspire me❤
I'm really happy your channel is doing so well. you really deserve all the good things that are coming your way. I'm way older than you and I still find your videos really helpful! Thank you ❤
past papers 100% just reading and rote learning concepts wont do much for you, you have to be able to apply those concepts and past papers are for sure the most efficient and effective way to do that, make sure you use mark schemes as well to see what key phrases examiners like to see (especially for biology) good luck!
Lexi Jade I am also in your shoes this new 9-1 thing means that past papers are useless however CGP sell brilliant predicted papers for the sciences, the Collins revision guides are also really helpful and making notes from those are my main source of revision. Hope this helps.
This was a really nice video Jade! The trick is actually balance for me. If I do study stuff for two hours, then I let myself watch TV for half an hour. Anyways, lovely channel💙 lots of love and wishes from Mumbai, India 💗
Hey Jade! Thanks for this video. I literally never work at home but at school, I actually do it during study. I definitely need to improve😂. You’re amazing!
This might be strange, but while I'm in school I don't really work hard on actual work, I usually spend time laughing with my friends and hanging with them even in lesson. Like I pay attention in class but. Then I go home and do as much as possible before bed and that's a good balance for me, it works so well
I revise 25 hours a day.
SILENTVIPER rlly? I do 40 a day.
Greenbean - only 40? I do seven days a day
Rike Wow thats so much! So proud of u!
Rike pfffttt! 7? i do at least 14
Guys it's impossible to get good grades unless you revise for 250 hours per day, that's my top tip! 😊
The fact that exams are so close is stressing me the heck out but procrastination is my middle name 😥
SAME! But we got this!
EffyApples same it's my first and surname too😂
Effy procrastination apples
How did you get on? 😊
It’s my first, unfortunately 😅
i actually find balancing revision and homework so difficult, my college is well known for setting extremely high amounts of work. being a year 13 is so difficult and unfortunately i've had a huge family trauma (member of family has died) so i've completely lost my motivation, i just can't find myself enjoying my work. thanks so much for this video, you always make me smile even when i've lost my ability to want to work. can you maybe do a video about how to cope with issues/how to stay motivated? i was also wondering how much work you're planning to do over easter. i don't want to burn out before june!! hope you're doing well xx

Good luck ❤❤❤
I am going through the same thing right now... I read your comments and got tingles, because my situation is the same, just a year later and an ocean apart
Do you have any tips? It is so hard right now after missing days

How did you end up doing? xx

GRATEFUL TO HAVE YOU HERE TOO!! ❤️✨

I love this so much it's so real and it's good to know someone who isn't a robot and also can't work for 10 hours straight!
Just on my 5 mins study break, honestly coming here for motivation ❤
I love how you she says welcome back to unjaded jade

Lool i get off at 12 😂
6pm for me and I'm only at college, not uni or anything. And I leave my house at 8am to get there at the beginning of the day 😩😩
I get at 4:30 but i stay at school to study and i get home 6:00 and i need to study more at home lol.

Been having a really rough week and I’m so happy to see a new video! ☺️ This was such a great topic to discuss, I always find it so hard to know when to just stop working 🙈😭💜
O
it's so ironic! you always upload when I'm having a bad mental health day 💙💙
You're absolutely correct. I believe it's all about working smart and productively not working for 9 hours and doing nothing.
I like that you mentioned staying on top of your subject and try to understand them because in the past when I find a topic hard I would dismiss it instead of dealing with it thinking I would get it on its own. This was so needed! I’m doing AS levels and I’m such a procrastinator, literally anything distracts me and I never know how much to revise so this was useful xx
Sorry this is so random but I came across your comment (obviously from 4 years ago) and I was wondering how did your Alevels go haha and how is life?
I literally struggle with motivation so much, yet I still love watching you because your nature is just so lovely. anyone is so lucky to be your friend x
i love your account so much, i find it so helpful! i watch your videos everyday, definitely my favorite studytuber!
I just finished my mocks yesterday, now I need to start preparing for my actual IGCSE exams! Your videos always motivate me to keep going!! ♥♥♥
You’re so motivational, thank u so much for all these videos you make! If I end up doing well in my GCSEs, I think I owe a lot of it to you.
Thank you for this, my mocks are up in a month and I’m so stressed because everyone has started revision but I’m jsut trying to get through this weeks exams. Thank you so much ❤️
I freaking love the way u explained your thoughts about this topic u are truly an amazing person continue your videos motivate me a lot
Quality matters over quantity !! Love you Jade !!!! You are one of the most realistic UA-camr I have ever met ! Seriously I am so thankful that I subscribed to your channel and found you !!! ✨😆🌹
Wow, thank you so much for the lovely words - it means a lot! ❤️ I couldn't agree more! Quality over quantity always ;) xx
haha, I don't have a social life but thank you very much for guiding me on school life!!
Thank you so much Jade! I've been quite stressed about exams starting soon because I can't help but compare my revision to other people, and freak out over how much they're doing compared to me and how they're revising! Hopefully I'll stop doing that hahah. Your videos are so so helpful though xxx
This video was so helpful. Thank you💗
I'm so glad! Thank you for being here ma friend 💖 x
Never assume! Not been a student for 15 years but love watching your videos when I'm doing housework as they're so positive and upbeat 😂 you promote a wonderful attitude towards life 👍
You have no idea how honoured I am to have you here! 😉😂 lots of love my friend xx
Do you do any extra curriculars? If so, what extra curriculars do you do?
Hey! ❤️ So I suppose UA-cam is my main little extra curricular haha, but I also volunteer with disabled kids, horse ride and do a lot of running and yoga in my spare time! x
UnJaded Jade wow! Horse riding that sounds amazing!
Could you do a video on how to start revising when you've stopped for a long time, kind of like the video that Eve posted recently, but with your own tips. Also, love your videos, they remind me of the need to revise (unfortunately my brain is just dead after my mocks and I can't start back up again)
Hey Jade, can you do a video on revising a month before the exam? How to go through everything properly and so forth. Love your videos!!! Xxx
Thanks so much Jade- just the motivation I needed to drag myself through the rest of this crazy busy week! 💕
Oh my gosh Jade thank you so much for this video💕💕💕 I really needed this ❤
Jade posted! You made my day because I was really sad since Stephen Hawking died. I even cried.
Maria The Christmas addict what are you kidding 😭😭😭😖😖😖😖😟😟😟😔😔😩☹️😣😞🙁😓😥😰😨😱😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢
Maria Hawking oMG I Am SOoo SAD😥😓😭😭😢😭😭😭
I was genuinely GUTTED when I heard this morning! What a genuine legend, both personality-wise and through the ingenious contributions he made to the world of science. 💛✨
Although I am in Year 6, you help me educate myself and study for my sats which is great because I normally procrastinate. Thank you!
Sats are not important i did no work and got full marks in both tests
Same got sats this year revising a lot wanna ace my tests
Sats are important because secondary schools use them to determine sets, often over actual exams, if you do bad, you get put in bad sets and it hinders your abilities at gcse, don’t worry about them but certainly don’t listen to the rest of the comments and revise 100%
This was a video I really need right now. Thx Jade 💚
Please make a room tour video and where do you keep everything (organization )
I loved this video! There is too much focus on the length of studying rather than the quality! But I just have one question; if you go to bed after 9 p.m and you wake up at 5 a.m, that’s less than 8 hours of sleep (which is the recommended hours of sleep). Do you feel well-rested in the morning? I’m someone who NEEDS at least 8 hours of sleep so I have to go to bed before 9 p.m (I’ve started waking up at 5 a.m because of your video about it!). This was a very long and meaningless comment, but I hope you can make sense of it and answer my question:) Good night!
jade answer this question please
Can you do a video of some sort of plan you have for your Easter revision? Love this channel, thanks for keeping me motivated! Xx
AstroAlex thanks so much! x
year 12 person here and i'd say enjoy year 9 as much as you can, because it's basically your last year before proper exam stuff starts happening! you definitely don't need to work every day, but like AstroAlex said, keeping up with work is super useful and your future self will thank you! all the best for the rest of year 9
r mia thanks:)
Sometimes it’s difficult to know how many hours of revision AND work to do!
Thank you Jade!😘
I personally procastinate too much. I learn everything in the morning, an half hour before the lessons start and I made a part of my homework in the recreation.
I have to study more to have a better rythm of life or just spend my afternoon hours on better activities than UA-cam because with studying I could make my grades better.
On average I have 1.3 (1 is the best, 6 the worst) and I could make so much better grades
I love your channel because you inspire me❤
And I'm sorry for my bad English, I don't live in an English speaking country
I'm really happy your channel is doing so well. you really deserve all the good things that are coming your way. I'm way older than you and I still find your videos really helpful! Thank you ❤
Awhh Gabriela! 🙈 thank you so much for the beautiful words - it means a lot! x
I have my gcses in a few months and am really panicking about science, do you have any tips for science revision?
Lexi Jade condense the information into small chunks and go over these small sections frequently.
Lexi Jade flash cards definitely work for me.xx
past papers 100% just reading and rote learning concepts wont do much for you, you have to be able to apply those concepts and past papers are for sure the most efficient and effective way to do that, make sure you use mark schemes as well to see what key phrases examiners like to see (especially for biology) good luck!
Seriously I need help in science SO much 😭
Lexi Jade I am also in your shoes this new 9-1 thing means that past papers are useless however CGP sell brilliant predicted papers for the sciences, the Collins revision guides are also really helpful and making notes from those are my main source of revision. Hope this helps.
i"ve only today found your channel and i love it!! thank you for your positivityy :)
You just shouldn't do too much and I think it's amazing that you acknowledge that. Stay positive! New adventures await us. ✨😀
Such a relief that you're not doing, like, 10000000 hours a day!! I'm doing my A2s and my uni offer is AAA but I'm not doing loads yet either
Found this video so helpful!! Thank you for helping me with revision and for always being so positive 💗
This was a really nice video Jade! The trick is actually balance for me. If I do study stuff for two hours, then I let myself watch TV for half an hour. Anyways, lovely channel💙 lots of love and wishes from Mumbai, India 💗
Yayy a new video!!! 😍 Thank you!! This is super super helpful!!! xxxxxx
Yayyyyy haha! You're more than welcome, Olivia! 😉✨lots of love xx
Hey Jade! Thanks for this video. I literally never work at home but at school, I actually do it during study. I definitely need to improve😂. You’re amazing!
This video came at just the right time! Love your videos so much 💗
ive been looking for an answer to this for sooo long!! so glad you made this
can you please do a video on de-stressing? You have the best advice and I could really use it right now! :)
This might be strange, but while I'm in school I don't really work hard on actual work, I usually spend time laughing with my friends and hanging with them even in lesson. Like I pay attention in class but. Then I go home and do as much as possible before bed and that's a good balance for me, it works so well
ahhh I love this! what a queennnn xxx
never been so early!! love ur vids!! keep it up Jade!
Thank you so much jade! I’ve had such a stressful week with some mocks coming up and having no clue what to do 😂 you’re amazing!
Jade, you are so lovely and talented - it is always such a pleasure to listen to you! Keep doing you xXx
