General Mattis's philosophy speaks volumes about the essence of courage and initiative. It's not just about facing fears; it's about actively seeking challenges and tackling them head-on. Whether in war or in life, it's about being the one to strike fear rather than being intimidated by it. His words remind us that courage isn't just about physical bravery; it's about moral courage too-standing up for what's right, pursuing our dreams against all odds, and refusing to settle for anything less than extraordinary. It's a mindset that resonates deeply, urging us to embrace challenges and strive for greatness in every aspect of our lives.

I LOOOOOOOVE THIS ❤ WHAT A WARRIOR MIND Impeccable Strategy Battle is the PERFECT GROUND to FORGE LIFE WISDOM As LIFE or DEATH BREEDS CLARITY As well as HERO'S ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Even heroes must learn from their mistakes Jocko It doesn't mean they're not heroes 👁️
"Spartans didn't ask how many of the enemy there were 'cause they were gonna attack anyway" is honestly the d*mbest quote I've heard all day, you need STRATEGY and not just animal and impulsive "killer instinct", it probably was tryna convey something else but the way it was put is honestly kinda laughable ngl
Jocko Willink seems like an unwitting parody of himself. But that's probably because I don't know the first thing about him. He appears to be a stereotype of a stereotype. He certainly interacts with the world in a much different way than I do or care to. That being said, I applaud his success, from wherever it stems.
The only reason I bring that up is because, unlike the warrior poet archetype, he's simply a warrior from my impression. Why he's on a philosophy channel is beyond me. He writes self-help content for incels that want to play at being tough guys? I guess I should go find out more about him before making a bunch of assumptions.
you're sort of correct, but he's a genuine person and has many lessons that are valuable. I think he could chill a bit---probably was a bit annoying for the other military guys, but clearly a guy you wanted on your team, in the heat of battle or going into it...and planning.
@@MLATX512 I think he is pandering more to the business world. In general--that's where he makes his money---and if you read the works of Robert Greene, this is where Ryan Holiday basically comes from and what Jocko sort of lives---a strong, intense, good guy warrior ethos --in all fields. I don't think it appeals to incels--this group is not anti-women, per se, but sees them strategically and definitely supports positive relations. I'd say more "red pill" than incel...
@@GP-lg6np The work ethic thing is a good point and definitely valuable to anyone. He and Goggins are a bit wound around the axle for my taste. I spent the first 11 years of my life on military bases around the world and have had my fill of "Me get up 5 am, kill bad guys" thing. I have nothing against him and there is definitely a need for that in the world, it just doesn't appeal to me personally. The only reason I bring it up is that, though Marcus Aerilius was a warrior, he was more of the strategist and mind behind the troops. His reflections aren't reflections of brutishness. I'm not sure I appreciate the celebration of the thick brute, no matter how driven, mixed in with reflective philosophy of the likes of Cicero. That being said, there is something to be learned from everyone, isn't there? Also, I definitely respect him, even if he's a bit to the extreme for me. I tend to avoid the extremists of any flavor.

Really fine edited video. More of this!!
YES!! This book is going to be such a catapult!
Great book
👏👏👏👏
I would easily race to buy the audiobook if it was narrated entirely by Jocko haha
Philosophy of offense, sounds epic
The dark side of that is VERY dark.
Also, there is a function of how one deals with the obvious tempo initiative of another. I need to play more chess and suck less at chess I think lol.

Discipline is destiny
Ego is the Enemy
Meditations
On the Shortness of Life - Seneca (I wanted to recommend something different than the above titles)
I loved "How To Think Like A Roman Emperor" especially the audiobook.

In a fight ... anger is as good as courage
Ryan truly doesn't read the internet. 😆

Stacey Abrams? Really?
The type of courage to say you’re governor whether you actually won or not. Haha.
She’’ll keep fighting for people even if she doesn’t win every election. If you only fight when you are winning…
Should be Winsome Sears.
Yeah I was with him (Ryan) until that point
