    For the first prompt - A state trooper pulled over a man for not having a license plate on their car. The trooper noticed the man had a gun in his jacket and was reaching to grab it so he pulled out his gun. He was taken in and was later found out to be the Oklahoma terrorist Timothy McVeigh who just blew up the Oklahoma federal buildings. This just shows how scary normal instances can be. Police need to be prepared for ANY instance. They go threw training for years! My father has been a cop for 30 years and is still getting training. These people are being redundant. Thank you Officer Charles Hanger for doing your job right.

      @@brittanym7536 I’m referring to instances of proven self defense. For example 2 blocks from where i worked in downtown Jax.Florida, there was a case where a 16 year old kid (to young to legally carry a gun) was approached by two other men, an argument broke out and one of the group of 2 drew a gun and attempted to fire on the 16 y/o. Fortunately for the young kid the gun jammed and in that time he was able to draw and fire his own. The 16 y/o was arrested, detained, and released hours later with no charges because even situation of him carrying the gun would not have been revealed had his life not been at risk. The entire event was caught on near by security cameras. I believe it was 2017 on mlk day at the Jacksonville landing if you wanted to look it up. I personally think its a perfect depiction of how stand your ground laws should be applied

      @@brittanym7536 Those cases aren't a result of "stand your ground" laws. Those cases aren't exactly unique either, and I have no idea why the media is acting like they are. As a former police officer, I've had to deal with those kinds of cases several times. But I do agree that people who carry a firearm for protection need to really truly understand how the self defense laws work, inside and out. And I will say that the majority of citizens I know who carry are fairly knowledgeable. Most people who carry are already interested in and involved in 2A issues, and do take the time and put in the effort to properly train, and educate themselves on the laws pertaining carrying a firearm and using one in self defense. But there are definitely those few out there who don't, and who have no business carrying a firearm at all. They don't represent the majority, but they do exist.

    • @mattjack3983
      @mattjack3983 Рік тому +5

      @@taeworldcj6998 I agree 100%. I've heard of that case too. And that's exactly the kind of situation where using a gun to defend yourself would be 100% justified. • @taeworldcj6998
      @taeworldcj6998 Рік тому +3

      @@mattjack3983 there’s also a notable difference from living in chicago and Jacksonville. Far more often the news in Jacksonville was similar to the previous story, but in Chicago it’s often the opposite. Because someone messed up young usually due to gang related problems, in such a strict city they can’t legally carry and for a felon to carry is a 5 year minimum at the state level.
      So more often than not even reformed gang members who try to help their communities post incarceration still become victims of mindless retaliation because they couldn’t defend themselves, or they do defend themselves but end up doing atleast the 5 for having the gun regardless of self defense.

My friend assures me her gun is always on her person when she's working. Even in sweet little Sweden. Maybe they don't need to use them as often but then again - Unless you're a hunter you cannot own a gun in Sweden and hunters have strict regulations when it comes to their usage of said gun and can't just walk the streets with it. Very different from the US. I understand why cops in the US need guns and also why cops in Sweden need guns, there are crazy people out there.

    The Efficacy of “De-Escalation Tactics” seems highly dubious to me. Maybe I’m just weird or something, but when I see people who are in the middle of an emotionally fraught situation and they are freaking out, if someone tries to intervene and attempt to get them to calm down, they have a tendency to react in the OPPOSITE manner and start freaking out even MORE, where they will lose their minds and say “STOP TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN!! I’M PERFECTLY CALM!!!”, and oftentimes, it just makes everything WORSE.
    Imagine going into an unpredictable scenario where someone is armed and having a mental breakdown and trying to convince them to stop.

      I agree in that sense, but I think it's a bit deeper than just "calming them down". That would be why any sort of tactic or method of de-escalation would require specialized training separate from normal police training, and might even require an entirely new profession composed of, essentially, a combination of officer and psychotherapist. A de-escalation official would need something far more convincing than just "chill, bro" haha

      As a former corrections officer and police officer, you are 100% correct. De-escalation tactics have their place, and they are meant to be used to pacify a situation that is escalating to the point of becoming unmanageable. But I don't care how well trained you are in de-escalation, it's ALWAYS going to be hit or miss. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. And more often than not, attempts at de-escalation DO tend to have the opposite effect in emotionally stressful and tense situations. Especially when there is some kind of mental health issue involved. It cannot be overstated how unpredictable the outcome will be when attempting to de-escalate a situation involving an emotionally and potentially mentally distraught individual. The very sound of your voice, or they way that your face looks, might be the thing that causes everything to go to shit. It's a miserably stressful job, and I don't miss it lol.

    • @pariah_carey
      @pariah_carey Рік тому

      @@frankcaggiano8282 I’m sure that it would be a BIT more involved than I made it sound, and it would be a preposterous proposal if it DIDN’T entail a great deal of intensive training, so I would assume that it does. But I am still skeptical, nonetheless, about the notion that a Psychologist would have the desired effect of de-escalation, unless it is specifically a case of pure mental illness (at least, one in which the Individual in distress is still capable of listening to Reason, rather than completely detached from Reality). Because, in cases of apprehending a Criminal who is actively in the process of committing a crime in progress, or being picked up for a violent crime that they are suspected of committing, their Primary Motivation (regardless of what THEY might say, after the Fact, when they go back to trying to act like a Tough Guy again), in the heat of the moment, is the overwhelmingly paralyzing anxiety, dread, fear and loathing that comes with the prospect of an imminently-impending arrest, conviction and incarceration in your immediate future.
      Even if they’ve been locked up before, when you find yourself in a situation where you are 100% certain that you aren’t going home tonight, and you might not even get to go back AT ALL, if you are remanded to custody, pending trial, and your future is indefinitely postponed and COMPLETELY out of your control, there is no telling WHAT someone might do, under those conditions, once they are backed into a corner, because they, essentially, NO incentive to cooperate, at that point, because the police aren’t going to just let them go, if they JUST fight hard enough.
      In fact, I guarantee you that, in many of those infamous incidents of high-profile police shootings, their erratic and illogical behavior in the moments RIGHT before the shooting starts (i.e. charging, or attacking, or running from, the cops, or even trying to grab their guns), it is because their mind is being wracked by a ceaseless stream of panicked thoughts about the fact that there is NO way for them to escape their inevitable fate of getting locked inside of a tiny cage with violent strangers for an extended period of time, unless...
      And so, in those final moments, they decide that even DYING would be preferable to the alternative option of going to prison.
      Honestly, I don’t know if it is even possible to resolve that kind of situation with psychological intervention, because THAT isn’t the problem. The fact that the psychologist is accompanied by an officer of the law who is intent on putting them behind bars, is the aggravating factor that is responsible for raising the tensions to the point where it could, potentially, easily end in tragedy, in their desperate attempt to avoid being forced to face the consequences of their unlawful actions.
      I’m not necessarily opposed to the notion of sending Psychologists out with the Police, and I don’t see a reason why We shouldn’t, at least, TRY to see how effective it is. I still have my doubts, but I’m perfectly willing to be proven wrong.

      Exactly. You are 100% correct. As a former corrections officer and police officer, I can attest that this is beyond all doubt TRUE. Even in places like the UK, where it is damn near impossible for citizens to own guns, and completely illegal for citizens to carry them, your statement is true. My grandmother was from London, and I have a bunch of family there who I visit as often as I can. Guns are indeed scarce in the UK. But guess where they are not scarce? In the UKs criminal underground. Oftentimes when there is an armed and violent criminal, even the police who show up to arrest him are completely useless and ineffective, because the majority of the police are not armed. They have to call in an "armed bobbie" (they call cops bobbies there) and wait for him to arrive before anything can be done. And knife crime is huge there, but most people already know that. What is less known is that they do have quite a few gun toting criminals. Basically it's a society where the ONLY people walking around with guns are the criminals. The main stream media there also actively covers up and attempts to hide the amount of gun related crimes that happen there too. As a former cop, I promise that if we made guns illegal here, and we took everyone's guns away, we would only be taking them away from the people who are law abiding citizens. Criminals, by definition, don't care what is illegal and what it isn't. That's why they are criminals. Taking away the right to own guns would only be rendering a population of law abiding citizens completely defenseless against the criminals who will still be armed.

    it is interesting that the "con"s all used every trick to trap the cops. the cops listened to the prompt and agreed that some laws need room for exception and the con's got mad and accused the cops of not being lawful! looking back on the prompts and answers, the same thing happened every question. it is mind blowing that after listening to the cop's reasoning the con's took the opposite view on purpose . so blind and un-lawful.

    As a paramedic who worked in EMS, I would not feel safe with unarmed police. People are scary and unpredictable. I can empathize with convicts who feel disadvantaged and do not believe they would hurt someone (be mindful there are various reasons people are imprisoned). However, there are people in the world who are scary and as a person who has seen people at their worst and as a person who believes everyone has a breaking point, I would want my officers and those who they protect to be able to defend themselves if things go wrong... because (believe me) things can go wrong.

    In the military annual psychological assessments as well as psychological assessments for new enlistments are REQUIRED maybe if psychological assessments were part of the background check process that would help at least moving forward.

    This conversation is not cut and dry. Ex-cons do deserve a better pathway to a normal life again and police need more/better options and support in general for the randomness in career. Both are trying to live in a chaotic world but sadly the vocal minority don't want to give either the benefit of the doubt. its easy to say "treat each other like humans" but thats a base level of thought that holds little weight against the anecdotal experiences. Jubilee overall has gotten way better in setting up these conversations. More companies could learn a thing or two when you get the "average" person to talk about their opinions.

    Amala, make the claim. I'm 58. I've ridden sportbikes (150 mph +) for over 40 years. I've been known to drive fast. I have been pulled over many times. I have never been arrested. I have never been in cuffs. Anyone that has had hundreds of encounters with cops is doing something wrong. Some might say it's because I'm white, but my best friend for 35 years is black. He is the closest thing to off the grid of anyone I know. He's never had a computer. He's never made more than 40k in a year. He has also never been arrested. BTW, if my kid was starving and I needed to lift some food to feed them, I would do that. I say it's justified to break (especially minor) laws under some circumstances.

    Love from Philippines!
    I know the video is in the context of America but the first prompt is never going to work well here in my country (or any place at all), especially the southern part where I live in. It's littered with terrorist groups and my city has been subjected to bombings and bomb threats throughout different points in time. Til this day, there are heavy security surrounding previously bombed areas alongside any areas that get heavily crowded (mind you these areas are churches and parks, areas that you dont usually see militaries surveying about constantly, and of course the roads meeting the city bounderies). The guy just saying that police shouldnt be armed is just plain crazy to me. Sure we also have shares of police brutality here, but I would rather have them still armed because it's obviously more dangerous if they weren't. It's either he has lived quite a prvilieged life or plain he's delusional.

    I watched this episode on jubilee and then rewatched on unapologetic. I wanted to see the reaction
    It is obvious the ex cons don't know how to have a civil debate about a sensitive topic. They all reacted first with emotion. Bonnie couldn't stop crying the entire time, and the boy with the denim refused to allow any one else to speak while simultaneously making senseless arguments.
    The way Bonnie waved her hands in the air when the plaid shirt guy chanted FTP shows us Bonnie is not accountable like she says she is, but still hasn't grown up.
    Like Jordan Peterson says, become the monster and learn to keep that under control. The bald gentleman said he learned crime tactics in prison and used them when he got out. As if he had no choice? Unless you have low EQ you will then learn monstrous ideas only to become a villian.

    I’m surprised that no one in the beginning brought up the fact that cops have the right to bear arms as well. Everyone has the right to bear arms who is a citizen in this country. If we took away the cops right to have a fire arm then it should be taken away from everyone not just them.

    I really do empathize alot with sexual assault victims... I can understand the terror and the rage.
    We also mustn't allow pain to blind our judgment either, and not reflect such a heinous act on actual good cops. I don't even think the uniform was the problem - just the gun. I think the uniform just planted a negative seed, that causes bad perception to ALL cops, and that's not fair nor a righteous judgment... it's not right to stereotype and scapegoat many, for the sins of one or a few, based on "triggers" we might experience to no fault of anyone but the actual disgusting vile perps. Cops must work to stop human trafficking, which involves criminals empowered with gunpower. They need guns.
    My heart goes out to this woman because I know how painfully writhing the anger must be. But we must get justice for you (if you hadn't gotten it), because Justice will bring peace.
    But let us not scapegoat the innocent for the sins of others. That's something I also experienced for myself, as someone who was scapegoated until I met the Reverend... and even now, it seems they continue in their ways, but God will always be my Mighty Defender.

    Almost 21 YEARS of dealing with the active 3 felony warrants from my sister using my name in Detroit in 1998. I was arrested in 1999 and they released me after 9 hrs of them running my prints twice. In all i had all the proof of my innocence I had to take w me everywhere in case i was pulled over. It was a nightmare. Mostly the cops were total assholes. I woke up to us Marshalls w guns pointed at my head. Too many times to type on here where they were horrible. My sister is also 7 inches taller than me and got my birthday wrong and Detroit cops still didnt wonder or run her prints in the system. Due to this all.i was accused of a theft i didnt commit because of the Warrents from that. I proved my innocence there, too. Things like what I went through w ill color your feeling on cops. In 2022 it was taken off my name but they didn't persue my sister. Had they run her prints the 3 times she was arrested under my name and not allowed her to bond out,they could've prosecuted her And taken it out of my name . I distrust all cops and i don't speak to my sister.

    As someone from Europe, the police and guns question is pretty simple.
    If civilians don't have guns easily, police are much more at ease and feel safe as well as the civilians. There's more trust in police than anger

      Yeah exactly. When it's only a small number of black market guns it's fine to have non-armed normal police, with armed response units where necessary. The US has something stupid like 500 millions guns. Of course the cops need to be armed. Credit to the two ex convicts who didn't step forward. They know it's dangerous out there.

      While most of our police do not carry, as majority of the population do not carry (So it is unnecessary for most to carry). We have always had an armed police unit that get called in for situations involving possible firearms (Legal or illegal).
      We just have special units for specific things.
