So enjoyed watching this 3-part series on soft spine journal. These videos contained so many ideas and techniques that so special. They open up a world of possibilities for a junk journalist to incorporate into their own journals. Possibilities are boundless. So many creative adventures. Thanks, Barbara for this type of series.
Simple elements, elegant lace, uncomplicated ephemera, beautiful addition of colour, modern stamping... WOW, everything in this journal is totally you, Barbara ... in your classy, yet down to earth style. If I had to catagorize your style, without boxing you in or confining your free artsy spirit, I think I would describe the way you approach a project in those words. Beatiful journal!❤
This has to be one of my favorites that you’ve ever made! I love the combination of modern, colorful stamping with vintage elements and lace. You are so fearless in your creativity…what an inspiration! 📖🥰🎉
This journal is so pretty and interesting! All of the digitals and trims are perfect. Especially like the matching tuck spots and the pearls that show on the top. Great ideas. Thanks.
I absolutely love this ! Very feminine and really like how you showcase vintage and modern. This just shows you can never have too much lace. Love love love it ! 💙
Shabby or not, is gorgeous! That pearls peeking out, the beautiful laces❤ And because of the map page, with the ship, of course i imagine that all this women are together on a cruise ship, remembering their adventures through life. Thank you💞
Oh Wow!! This Journal turned out so beautiful! The cards with these beautiful women on them are just breath taking. You want to just keep turning the pages to see the next. I love your laces also. It seems like every creator I see lately is telling us to use what we have. Stop hoarding these laces. So I don’t know if you’ve been holding on to these laces or not. But if you have, you chose the perfect Journal to use them in. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. ♥️♥️♥️
This little journal is gorgeous! I really enjoyed watching you create the pages and adding the bits and pieces. It grew to a perfect size for the binding. I feel like I stepped back in time today. Very stunning. ❤❤❤
That project turned out very nicely….well done. As for your query in part 2 regarding enjoyment watching your process…yes, I like to see these types of videos from you. I find watching you work to be informative, inspiring, and tranquil. Thank you for sharing with us ❤
I love this series. It’s a goal of mine to do a vintage junk journal actually using the vintage pictures, letters and ephemera collected by my mother. 😘Thank you for sharing!
Lol that little iron is so handy. I'm loving all the lace on here, especially the embroidered vintage stuff 😍. Ugh why do they always discontinue the best products? I was gutted when they stopped making my favourite tea 😭. I think my favourite cosmic shimmer acrylic glue is similar to your art glitter glue. I've heard people complain about it not being shimmery 🙈. I love the bulky pearl trim sticking out the top 😍. Such a gorgeous little journal😍. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
It always makes me nervous when you glue stuff on top if your project! I love how you incorporate lace and fabric trim. I need to include that on my "new things to try" list! I have so many fabric scraps I could use for pockets or hinges. I'm not sure just how much lace I have, but I do have various other fabric trim that could be used. And vintage handkerchiefs or linens that could be used -if I have the nerve to cut them up!! Wonderful journal and so fun watching you put it together. ❤❤❤ TFS
Absolutely love it!!!! This is one I would purchase so I’m going to have to review the process videos and try my own hand. Thanks for sharing! MWAH MWAH!! ❤-N
Love this style. Very elegant. I'm pleased you didn't add any more to the lace belly band. It looks great as is. This one has me plotting my first attempt at making a journal after watching soooo many of your and Luise's videos😉
Hi Barbara! Thank you for sharing this journal-make! I'm not sure, howeverI feel that your craft has turned a corner and developed into something new. This journal is more quiet, delicate, and subdued. It feels more thoughtful somehow. It's so lovely! Kind regards from California! ❤
I have absolutley loved watching you create this journal! I am looking forward to trying this style of journal . Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us❤😊
I really couldn’t see this journal when you first began sewing in the signature bases. I am used to signatures with several pages in them. But I love how each base has become a piece of art. This journal is beautiful. Thank you for sharing a new style to try.
Hi Barbara, beautiful work as always! The magnetic base plate for your machine is meant for metal dies, not embossing folders. Using the base plate that came with it is definitely your best option for embossing. I work in a craft store, and often get that question. Don't know why your dies are moving on the magnetic base though, mine don't. Maybe talk to Sizzix about that.
Your problem with that belly band might be related to color. You have all black, white, brown, and beige on that page spread. Maybe you could add some blue accents to tie the page into the rest of the journal? My mind goes to something small and dark blue, like a button or flower. Or even a tab or tag topper on a card under the lace I love watching you create and talk through your struggles ❤
Interesting… I was thinking it needs some blue grey or silver accents like some beads on the centre of each flower in the middle of the lace, or a strip of silver/grey blue beads that rubs down the middle. Grey blue flowers would be pretty
Hi Barbara another great journal. you mention a couple of times how having some things already made it nice, personally I loved it in Dephemerember 2021 where you premade all the ephemera and then just added it to a journal. Urban nature still my favourite :). would you do another series premaking bits and pieces kine threading buttons and adding to fabric scraps and then adding them to a journal . I would love to follow along with that. Well done as always you are so inspiring xx
I’m not sure if you have a glue brand called Aleene’s in Vienna, but if you do, they have a fabric glue called “no-sew” that if fabulous. Also, the lace belly band that you’re unsure about what to add to it (buttons, etc. from last video, I think) what if you added something down the sides of the trim…you could “fancy it up” a bit without covering the gorgeous middle. Hope that makes sense. Anyhow, thanks for sharing your creativity.
Barbara, this journal is stunning! Vintage, lace and photos...let me just say, Bravo 👏👏👏 I'm giving you a standing ovation👏👏👏💞
Thanks so much 😊

A bird!!!🐦🕊A bird would be nice on the lace band! It could face the woman with the hat on the right page telling her secrets with its songs 🎵🎶🎵!!!
Barbara - we have to be careful of the bulk. Also Barbara, oooooooooh pearls!!! 💗
😂😂😂
Thank you Barbera, this little serie gave me so much ideas for making my new journals!

Loved this series - so fun! Barbara, I don't mean to be nosey but do you know how Joie de fi is doing? I miss her!
Thanks! Unfortunately I do not….I think she is dearly missed in our community! ❤️

Thanks for your feedback and question. Let me think about it! ❤️
Love it
A beautiful journal filled with inspirational idea's!
I’m not sure if you have a glue brand called Aleene’s in Vienna, but if you do, they have a fabric glue called “no-sew” that if fabulous. I’ve even used it to make little cafe curtains for my kitchen…really great fabric glue. Anyhow, I am enjoying this series..I always look forward to seeing what you’ll do next. Aleene's is a great glue, but NOT for paper.
Thanks for your suggestions! ❤️
I made the same experience with the textile glue in Germany. Bitte the Journal is fabulous😊
Beautiful and very unique! Love it!
Absolutely amazing love it.❤
You are so creative! This is a beautiful journal.
It is gorgeous💙🩷💙
