My dog had oral cancer and went from okay to really NOT okay in 24 hours. Because of this video I was able to capture her precious paws forever in a way that didn't bother her. Thank you so much for this fantastic idea and sweet video!
I am so sorry for your loss. I’m sure he was a good dog and he served his purpose and brought joy and love in your life, and now it’s his turn to rest. He’ll always be looking after you from above. ❤
I tried this today, and it worked! Thank you so much! I have my chi and pom's paw print molds now... it's a fool proof procedure and I can't believe how extremely cheap it is.
@@TheDogVlog Thank you for sharing your methods :)... will take paw print molds of my shiba and sister's cat next. Overall cost was 7.99 and I still have plenty of leftovers.

I’m sorry to hear this. My dog was just diagnosed with aggressive osteosarcoma and I feel the absolute same way about her. We found out a day after her ninth birthday and have to put her down next week. Dogs really are family and touch our lives in such a positive and dramatic way. This is a lovely way to honour your pup. I’m also getting a tattoo to honour mine. It’s such a special way to commemorate how they’ve touched us.

This one is definitely easier to do. You can also do a paw print impression with a product called sculpy. This is another way to do it: ua-cam.com/video/GA8q5HAu3P8/v-deo.html
Oh that is just wonderful! Your a smart cookie. Thank you. My very best friend Lipton is crossing the rainbow Bridge T tomorrow and I needed something just like this.
I don't really know I think it's because I had a Golden Retriever I was doing when I couldn't find anything really to put the molding and I tried but I just wasn't sure not that well well so then I tried not using a mould and tried then cutting it into the mold and then I put the plaster of Paris on top and then it broke
Hi great video! My paw print of the heart dog (who died from cancer) just cracked at the bottom and is start to crumble :( (I know if I dab it with water it will be okay, but for a little while. I have no idea what kind of clay it was made out of, but wonder if I can save the rest of the paw print by doing a mold?
You should be able to make a cast from your mold. Alginate is a bit tricky but it doesn't stick to a lot of things. I have also used Amazing Mold Putty for making cast from sculpy molds. Sorry your heart dog passed away.
Hello, I wanted to try this tomorrow. I just want to be sure to do it right. Did you wash after it’s fully cured or once you take away play dough after a couple hours?
Great video. My first ever dog is dying from Hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive cancer. I didn't see the plaster mix being poured into the Play-Doh mold and need specifics on exactly how to do this. I only have 1 shot and cannot afford to make a mistake. I tried doing a cement pawprint and messed up...I panicked so badly. Anyhow, thanks for this video. It's the only one I can find with the Play-Doh
Is that play doe used or what was that I didn't catch it sorry but I love the way it looks and I have a fifteen-year-old cavapoo and I want her palfrey so please answer my question
Hi! I found this video very helpful! I'm trying to make a casting of a dog's paw that has passed away. The ones we got from the vet were cracking. The original paw print is make from Crayola model magic clay. Did you use just regular plaster of paris? I just bought some from Hobby Lobby. I just want to make sure I have the right stuff before I do it. I don't want to mess up the clay paw print and my plaster one. Any other tips would be helpful, too! Thank you!
Sarah Harrison I did use regular plaster of paris but in your case I would make a reverse mold - a cast - using this technique: ua-cam.com/video/igcnI5Yn54E/v-deo.html. This stuff didn’t stick at all to the polymer clay which is probably similar to your existing mold. I’ve also been told that alginate (the stuff used for dental molds) will not stick to other surfaces. Then you could use the plaster of paris or sculpy to do a new mold. Let me know how it goes!
Question : i have a paw print of my dog who passed in a dried out clay the vet gave me if i do the plaster on that will it still come off smooth? I want to try and get it in 3d form so i can do an ink print so i can get it tattood but i dont want to ruin my cet given paw print since i cant get another one due to my dog passing away
I have used Amazing Mold Putty for making casts from molds and it didn't stick to anything. Also alginate is another option, but it is trickier to use.
It might be worth sealing the play dough with a layer of liquid soap or something so it doesn't stick to the plaster. Also, it would be safer to wear a mask when mixing plaster
I have one of a hand print from when I was 5 years old and it would have lasted but broke when I was moving. I'm going to glue it back together though. So they last a very long time unless you break or crack them.
Yes you can pour plaster of paris directly into an animal print. The quality of the finished cast will depend on the sand or soil. I tried using plaster of paris on a dog print in the sand and it did sort of work but didn't have a lot of definition. However, in hard soil it can work well. Definitely worth a try!
Hello, thanks for checking out the video. I used plaster of paris for the casting and it doesn't fall apart. It could break though if you dropped it. But it's very solid.
Brandon Dee's Daily Vlog One of them ended up more speckled because I think I left it in the play dough longer. It’s good to wash it out once the plaster of paris dries and not let it stay wet. Too long in the dough gives it speckles. Thanks for watching!
Whaffled Narp Mine popped out easily but if you use a rigid plastic container you might need to use a knife around the edges and pop it out upside down. You’re welcome.

Yes it works pretty well for a positive cast of your dog's paw. The other method for a pawprint mold is with sculpy, also very easy.

Can u still use the mold after the first use ?
can you put resin on it to preserve it?
I haven't tried this, but I don't see why not. Depending on how you apply the resin, it could be thicker in some places.

Will this work on a cat that identifies as a dog? Thanks for the video.
Haha. Sure, it will work as long as your cat lets you put their paw in the play dough!

Do i need to let the playdough harden?
No

Hi!! I just tried this and the playdoh is quite stuck on the mold. How can I remove it all? Will rinsing under water be okay?
Yes, just rinse it off in water.
Add bit of oil (& mix ) into. paydough- itll come off plaster better
Heyy Will this last forever?
It could break.
It might be worth sealing the play dough with a layer of liquid soap or something so it doesn't stick to the plaster. Also, it would be safer to wear a mask when mixing plaster
