I’ve been off IG and Facebook since 2017…. I’ve never looked back! No comparisons, no wishing, no negativity…. I will never go back to it… it’s bad for our psyche…. I’m more self aware and I want to remain that way❤

It’s been over 2 years since I left social media. I have no regrets at all.
I got sick of people gossiping, drama, negativity & people faking their lives & friendships and sharing everything that should be kept private or craving attention with provocative pictures & selfies.
A number of things I realised:
1. People who added me as “Friends” didn’t really care about me. They were “So called Friends” it was just to increase their friends list.
2. When people were going through their hardest times of anxiety, trauma and upset, I went out of my way & made an effort by helping & supporting them. But when I was going through my hardest times, including anxiety, trauma and stress. The people who I helped & supported never reached out to me to help or supported me even when I struggled. Everything has become one sided.
3. Certain posts or videos get blown out of proportion or completely taken out of context even if it’s nothing negative.
4. People lie about the amount of friends they REALLY have. Who in the REAL world has 100s or 1000s of friends WHO??
5. Communication is very one sided. The same person had to make the first move to start a conversation as the other person doesn’t make an effort themselves or just can’t be bothered.
6. People lie about their lives, they only show the positive side of theirs lives which doesn’t show the REAL truth about the person. You can’t tell and don’t see if someone is REALLY depressed, upset, isolated, lonely, feeling suicidal or what’s actually going on in their actual lives. Even if people post how they really feel, people don’t always care or not interested.
7. It makes people fake and insecure. It’s not just school kids or teenagers in schools, colleges, universities or workplaces doing it, but grown adults as well are also being fake & insecure, especially managers.
8. People compare themselves to others just to get loads of “Likes” & comments.
9. Social media has increased loneliness, isolation, anxiety and depression which can be severe.
10. Due to social media and the increase in technology, it’s causing destruction & destroying peoples lives in the sense of their is no sense of unity, community, love and nobody wants to help each other. If they see someone doing something constructive and productive and they’re doing well in a community or society, people will laugh at them in an act of ignorance, and cannot wait for them to fall down. Social media is dividing people, not bringing people together.
11. Having a proper conversation or being real is considered not normal and people think it’s creepy. People don’t like having real conversations.
12. It’s made people to be narcissists, entitlement, ignorant, prejudice and bullies.
13. People can say things or make comments that are abusive, racist, sexist, ignorant, prejudice, misogynist, homophobia, xenophobia, discrimination openly online, rather than to your face.
14. I have seen Boys & Girls take provocative, selfies / pictures just to get attention from so called friends / strangers, sometimes in a negative way, for example, woman having their boobs / chests hanging out, body image, men & women showing off muscles, six pack & more.
15. With social media & the young generation with regards to friendships, people feel that if they add someone as friend request and they accept it, or meet someone & they click with them they automatically think that’s “friends for life” people need to realise that’s not how friendship REALLY works.
Friendships are & should always be a 2-way street. Real friendships would make the effort to support & be there for each other through the good times, fun times, hard times, sad times, upsetting times & more. Communication & making an effort should be equal on both sides. Not the same person who always makes first contact. The other person should also make an effort too.
We need to ALL learn the skill set of when we suffer from stress, anxiety, trauma, facing problems & more, that we should reach out to our friends, family or professionals for help & support, NOT turn to social media.
16. Our young generation has grown up addicted. They have been addicted to mobile phones, alcohol, drugs, social media & more at a young age It’s very sad.
We are seeing the negative impact of what social media is doing, but we are not really reacting to it.
I never had TikTok, Twitter or Instagram. Glad I didn’t sign up to any of them. Facebook was the only social media platform I had and it was recommended to me back when I was in my teens.
I only use UA-cam as I can look at interesting things like cooking recipes and motivation videos and music videos of festivals & concerts and more fun stuff.
I enjoy going out in nature walks, bowling listening to music and learning new hobbies and watching movies.
Since leaving it’s been the best decision of my life. I enjoy life more, I can now enjoy doing the things I do or want to try without being judged or told what to do without being made to feel guilty.
I feel more happier and a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
I think if social media disappeared forever, I can guarantee people will spend REAL quality time with friends and family. People will know who their REAL friends are and that they will do things together and have a good time doing it. I also feel that people will have proper conversations and listen and engage.
I do feel sorry for our young generation. The young generation is lost. There is so much talent and ideas in young people and they need to show that in a positive & constructive way. We can make change for the future. The young generation needs real positive role models to look up to, for them to succeed in life & beyond.

Years ago, when I was 19 years old I was working at a 9 to 5 job and I was already succesfull. I felt dead inside tho. I watched one of his videos and that inspired me to change the direction of my life. I was working for someone else dream until his video changed my life. I decided to work on my dreams. Today Im 30 years old and I had my ups and down, success for me is feeling proud of your project and wanting to share it and talk about it. In any area... love life, career, spirituality. I'm the most authentic version of myself. I dont follow social media trends and I persue my music career. I used to have my own house and a lot of money but I was empity inside. Today I might have less money but I feel much happier and fullfield. Im not saying thats the truth but thats how I feel. Im glad for having at all and nothing when I was 19 years old. I already realised that was not the life I want to live. Thanks for his video.

I’ve quit social media for 5 years now , it was a rollercoaster ride but I’m more appreciative of my time with my family , this made me cry because we really don’t realize the time left until we really stop and think it through . 😢

As a muslim, i think on death a lot as our constant remembrance and 5 daily prayers keep us constantly aware. And you’re very right, it gives u peace, awareness, enlightenment, humbleness and definitely distance from being sucked in by anything and everything. Several times this year I’ve deactivated and activated, and repeated the same uncertainty of letting go of social media. Finally made the decision to fully let go of instagram and TikTok. I haven’t had Facebook for years.
I shifted my focus on my education and of course still committing to my career. And living in my visions of success.
Consistency is key for me. Fruits of the labor is what have gotten me to succeed, but also visualizing in the past has brought me to “my now,” the present. As i embrace every moment, I also embrace what my future holds.

I’m 20 years old and the only social media I’ve ever had is UA-cam. I stayed away from everything else cause I didn’t want my beliefs and views on the world to be shaped by what I would describe as the toxicity of social media. UA-cam is my alternative to cable TV, it’s where I go to see some entertainment and get some news. But other than that, I’ve avoided everything else. Those who need to reach me or those that I want to stay in touch with have my phone number and are able to text and call me when they want to chat or meet up.
Embrace the freedom don't give in it'll sink you like quick sand then control your emotions and affect your self-esteem. Theres wayy more to life than it
Good. Now the ultimate goal would be to also quit UA-cam. See, I'm an ex gambler (clean for 25 years). It's an addiction, just like social media. I've had to give up ALL forms of gambling right down to not pitching a penny; not ever buying a 50/50, and not buying a lottery ticket = NOTHING!! When it comes to social media, there is no room for ANY type of social media, and that includes UA-cam. Take it from an old, but recovered, ex gambler. Hopefully, there are also 12-step programs to rid oneself of ALL social media. Good luck!!

There is nothing wrong with wanting more, more and more. We are here to enjoy the experience of being physical beings, and each individual is free to discover whatever that is. There truly is no death. So there should be no fear of not living life fully because there will always be another opportunity in the next physical experience. I appreciate you Prince.

I'm glad i quit social media when i did which happened in june. im 27 and still have a life to live. I am dying a little bit each day and I'd rather spend my time doing meaningful things rather than on social media. I have started to love life again and I am so grateful for slowly regaining my self esteem.
Thank you for this message. Today I also deleted my social media. I have worked so hard for so many years...and still feel empty. I want to get back to the basics and remember that "little girl" spirit where I was carefree at heart. Life is always going to be a challenge. It's crazy how we add things to our lives that make it even more of a challenge. I'm glad I am here to see another day and take control of my life vs. seeing everyone else's. I wish everyone well.

Im so glad i watched this video. Im at the beginning of my quitting social media journey. Its been a month now, and i genuinely feel the spiritual detox. I overthink less, compare less, and im truly free of stress and negative thoughts. Instagram, tiktok and others have done nth but fill my time with pointless videos, negative news and pictures that dont reflect reality of life. Ive kept only the main ones like snapchat, pinterest and bereal. Im only 18 but i think ive waisted enough time. Like you said, now is the time to live fully, to realize dreams and foster happiness, momento mori. Thank you so much Ea for your words of wisdom ❤
this video is one of the best eye opening videos I've ever watched, as someone who has struggled with ego issues and always wanting to be the best I can at everything I do in life, I realized there will always be someone better at something and learning to come to terms with the fact I am not perfect and will never be enough for myself is the best way for me to grow as a person. I always thought making progress in the world's eyes or the people around me would give me a sense of fulfillment, but I realized this mentality just leaves me constantly wanting more from myself and never being content, which means I have missed the entire point of our very limited existence.

UA-cam gave me this video in its algorithms and Ive just spent most of the day watching your other ones, and how have I not been aware of you before??? Must of been a sign cause Ive been experiencing an unusual amount of anxiety in the past week (not really social media related) but from the troubles of life, mostly of work. But you have put so much into perspective and its the kind of things I really needed to hear. Id highly recommend to anyone who has jumped on this video to check out the others, cause it really will help :)

I kept seeing this video pop up in my recommended / suggested videos and I kept passing it by until today -- and I can easily say this moment was the exact time that I needed to hear this message
If you see this I just want you to know, all I can say is I’m so happy for you and honestly proud in a way. I’m glad you are going to continue or start living life to it’s fullest in your own unique and authentic way. That is what truly gives us a “joyful” life. Doing things we feel resonate most within us and quitting things that do more harm than good will make us an better and healthier version of ourselves, improving not just our lives, but those around us. I think about the things i truly find joy in, and it’s not social media or whatever that blank could be. It’s spending time with people I want to be with, laughter, helping others, how the ocean water crashes onto the shore, etc. small things we take for granted are what really matters in life. To figure out what those things are, you might have to think about death often. I know I do. I think about death when I wake up, throughout the day, and one of the last things I say before i fall asleep is “I could die right now.” It’s strange for sure but it also gives you more appreciation for waking up in the morning. Struggling with things like depression, childhood trauma, and ADHD make finding joy in life extremely difficult, but when I get the feeling of life it’s when I’m doing the things that are authentically me. Chasing something you think will make you happy will just make you miserable. Point being, he’s absolutely right and shouldn’t have to continue posting if he doesn’t want to. Prince Ea, I hope life treats you and your loved ones well. This sounds like a goodbye comment but I didn’t intend for it to sound like that. i’ve never had tiktok, or most social medias. my only socials are yt, discord, pinterest, and reading sites.
i am 17 and not once have i ever obsessed over how i look. i won’t deny that i have compared myself to others, but never longer than a few seconds.
i was never forced to neglect social medias. it is a choice of my own because they never interested me.
but when i think about other people and their problems as a result of social media-
yeah. not once have i ever regretted the choice to stay away from it.

Most of my short life, I didn't have social media, but some people influenced me to download tiktok and instagram in 2022, before that I hated them and wanted to stay away, but somehow people made me feel I'm missing out on something, so I downloaded them in '22, but honestly now I regret it, It just made me feel bad, made me feel I am not enough and behind of people who are more sucessful than me. I used tiktok over 10 hours per month and I think thats a lot of wasted time.

It's been really amazing, I now understand life in a more sincere and better way .
I just turned 31 last month and decided to seriously ditch social media. I just unfriended a lot of people on there and deactivated the profile. I didn’t delete it because I have a lot of pictures on there… but other then that …screw Facebook

You are right man. I got the social dilemma documentary and watched it a month ago. All issues mentioned in the documentary are how social media is ruining our lives, and how the platforms are designed to be addictive and disturbing us. Literally, social media made us unsocial instead of connecting us. That was the turning point for me to start digital minimalism and in some cases complete social media detox. So many things happened after my decision to quit Facebook, TikTok, and the like. I got more time to spend on something really important, reading books, focusing on only truly matter kinds of stuff and no more comparison of myself with the filtered lives of people on social media. Before, I used to spend tremendous hours of my life on TikTok and Facebook daily and missing important activities in my life. Then procrastination brought in and it is so annoying and I ask myself, what the heck I was doing? Then, after a little relief, I was doing the same thing and it was just unhealthy use of the platforms and costs me a lot. Now, the story is quite different, I started to focus on only important things and get rid of these addictive and destructive platforms.

As a Muslim, This video touches my heart. In our religion,we do believe in the afterlife and God will ask us about our lives and what did we do with it .
