I tried two 'different based ' products (Kilz & kilz2) on two different pale yellow stains on my Sheetrock. Neither one worked. Looked good when wet but I could see the yellow stain the following day. I put Zinsser BIN on a third pale yellow stain and it did hide it. The stain did not show through with Zinsser BIN. Painted all of them and it has been 10 years and there are still no stains showing today.

Do you guys think this Bin can cover what kilz max restoration cant? Someone fogged with a chemical in my home & the chemical soaked into my plastered walls & ceilings. I painted with kilz primer (2 coats) & 1 coat of paint & 3 months later the chemical smell came right through the walls. Will Bin work?

What do you mean it’s designed for “blocking” not “hide”? What is the difference between the two? What exactly are we “blocking” and not “hiding”?

Cover Stain is better for on oak cabinets when painting.

Not sure if this is the store's UA-cam page or this gentlemen's own YT page. But he's wrong. The BEST way to hide things like old water stains or fire/smoke stains is Zinnzer BIN. You'll see the stain through the first or even second coats but once you paint, it disappears. Other "Hide" primers do not work. When you paint over the other primers, after it dries, you'll see a slight yellowish tint bleed through. But not with Zinnzer BIN. They sell small spray cans - TRY IT! Every real handyman/contractor carries a can of this everywhere.

Indeed. The cheapest I can find for 2.5L is £39.98 at Toolstation. On the other hand I managed to get 2.5L of Cover Stain for £18.99 off eBay.

@Fat Jack don’t get me wrong b.I.n is good stuff , I found that Johnstone’s sticks better and stops water stains in one coat with b.I.n I had to put 2 or 3 coats to block water stains , b.I.n goes on better . Your safe using either of them 👍🏾

Works poorly at best....just junk. After 35 years, I should have known better.
