- The SilencerCo Maxim 9 is an integrally suppressed 9mm handgun that allows for a long and short configuration. Utilizing Glock magazines, it is quite accurate with it's fixed barrel and extended sight radius. It is also impressively quiet!

Love your vids. I feel like your audio does a great job representing what suppressed fire sounds like. My Maxim 9 shots left, and has only had 2 light strikes in 1700 rounds so far. Big problem with mine is extracted cases not clearing the slide and recoil rods, then being pinched by the slide while loading the next round. I've shot only subs, different brands of factory loads including HST. It's been back to SiCo twice and I need to test it now as it just got returned. Hopefully it'll be reliable as I love everything else about the gun
Not the first I’ve heard that same comment about hitting too far off sights. I had a few more light strikes but that only failures to eject issues were in the first 2 mags.
And thanks!!!
Looks like something Blade would use
Or judge dredd
Its Jason Todd's choice weapon (Red Hood)
The only reason i want to get it so i can get that day walker feeling 😂
It does kinda look like a remodeling of Blade's gun. Except his was fully automatic.
Robocop
The trigger spring kit does help, and I do recommend it, thanks for the video
Any pistol that looks even slightly like the Auto 9 is marvelous!
Dude the whole reason why I clicked onto this video is because I thought of the auto nine instantly by looking at this gun.
Remember folks, don't let trees look at you funny.
Picked one of these up, during the SilencerCo Summer Promo BOGO, for $801.00. The purchase came with a free SiCo Octane 45HD. I just couldn’t resist! I really need to get out and try them both sometime soon. Really enjoyed the review!
Heck of a deal!
I love your enthusiasm man
Literally my first video here. And the dude doing it kept my ADHD ass entertained the entire time. I think I’m gonna have to get one of these.
1200 for the gun and 200 stamp isn’t horrible.
I'd say go for it, was looking into one of these myself.
Nice review!!! I just brought mine have to wait for 8months. Can’t not wait!!!
I’ve been seeing 5-6 month approvals.
Looks like the gun from Pyscho Pass
@If_U_Don't_Snipe You're_A_Puss_Puss Couldn't remember what it was called at the time.
@If_U_Don't_Snipe You're_A_Puss_Puss Resort Boin
“Don’t look at me like that!” 🤣
Awesome review - complete, even-handed, and amusing to watch.
Thanks.
This videos audio does a great job showing how not silent supported pistols are.
I love that weapon It’s one of my favorite parts on it it looks great pal Great video mate :) ❤️
I like the video and your commentary. That’s a cool advanced pistol.
What I like the most about that pistol is that its shape is quite similar to a TASER X2 or TASER 7.
Jokes aside, I first thought of a TASER the first time I saw your gun and had it had some yellow on it, that could have done the trick.
I have also checked videos of integrally suppressed handguns and apparently, that one is as quiet as a Russian P.B. Makarov.
Nice video, sir!
Well explained and with a great review, just the way it should be.
Dustin is ahead of his time guys.
Great vid man! Of all the gun channels you have by far the best and most entertaining personality. 👌👌🔫🔫
Awe thanks!!
I've tried the trigger spring kit in my MX9 and got a ton of light primer strikes for both the light and medium springs (firing pin hits slightly off center). Had to go back to the stock spring for reliability.
Honestly, even with the heavy stock pull, the trigger break is very predictable. Rather than a wall, it feels like there's a cliff that I can consistently pull the trigger back to. Enough to train around.
"Hollywood quiet" - Dustin Ellermann. Never forget. Beautiful. 🤣👏🏻
Oh man I’m jealous! LGS has one on sale right now and I was looking at it but it’s so hard to justify waiting A YEAR (especially with all the stuff going on currently) for the BATF to get all the paperwork verified. Man you’re lucky lol
“Don’t look at me that way!” BLAM! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome short bro 🔫
I've been shooting mine alot and trying different ammo.
- Trigger is fine... no issue that I can tell. People are too picky.
- Only issue with full power ammo is, the suppressor body tends to ring like a bell. Did you experience this?
- Been trying different subsonic ammo. 150gr Syntech seems best. REALLY quiet, clean and DOESN'T _ring_ the suppressor body. Syntech = Winner (except for price hehe)
- My sights were dead zero out of the box. No issue there. Now I run a Holosun 507c.
- No malfunctions whatsoever with any ammo.
- Fantastic build quality. Fit & finish is 10/10. No exaggeration.
- This is the softest shooting, most fun 9mm pistol I own. Love this thing!
Only thing better would be owning two. Hmmm.
The anime psycho pass main firearm looks damn near exactly like this
Hits me instantly man, Psycho pass gun.
I clicked thinking that the comments would all be about psycho pass.
But no, just other random references. Sad day.
Oh Yeah! My new favorite pistol😎
It looks like a blaster from Star Wars!!!!! It looks like a smooth shooting but it sucks about the trigger
Noticed some light primer strikes in your video. I have a maxim also and get a fair amount of them. Sometimes as many as 2-3 a magazine. I thought maybe it was the reloads but in my Glocks, Sigs, Beretta and Kahr they have no problem. I sent mine back to Silencerco and I am waiting to test it out to see if it works better now. My friend had an early edition with a 2 digit serial number and he ran into the same light primer strikes problem. Mine is a 4k serial number and I had hoped they worked it out by then but they hadn't. I wonder if you got anymore light primer strikes that didn't make the video during testing?
Yeah probably I had a few more light primer strikes that didn’t happen on camera. I’m hearing that a few times in the comments now.
How did this work out?
@@MrNeutralParty It came back and was much better but will still have a light primer strike every once in a while. This relegates the pistol to quiet plinking instead of a home defense weapon. They got so much right with this gun it is sad that the basics like consistent primer ignition didn't happen. The good news is now I can go through many mags before I run into a light primer strike so they did improve it greatly. In reading some comments there is production ammo out there with softer primers and if you ran those exclusively it may be reliable enough to use as a defensive weapon. I can't do this because I have glock mags all over and I can't take the chance of one getting in the Maxim that isn't the one with softer primers.
Mine doesn’t hit point of aim either. Sent it back twice - in order to hit bullseye the back sight has to be drifted off the slide by SilencerCo techs. Sadly SilencerCo says it is in spec and refuses to replace the barrel. Some other people on forums have had the same bad shift you documented. Grrrr on a $1,000+ pistol. I don’t recommend the Maxim 9.
Well how about that???
I’d just throw a red dot on it anyhow.
i agree...captacular !
As far as looks go, it is very cool, but when I check out Decibel vids vs other suppressor setups, it always seemed to perform poorly in the "shh" department.
Love the content as always Mr. Ellermenn!
The thing is, the lessons from the Osprey should have taught that with subcaliber rounds, the powder burn volume is not enough to justify increased silencer volume. Really the only benefit of a larger internal volume is to stuff more ablative material in and that is it. They should have made it in a 45 frame and allowed downsizing to 10mm and 9/40/357sig, where you could then choose calibers to take advantage of the internal volume. It isn't like the silencer bore size really matters that much anyways, you don't have to fit it close to the barrel bore diameter.
that's a nice canik bub
Cool gun
I don’t own a gun at all...And I just moved to Arizona from California and folks are open carriers here...So I’m thinking about exercising my right to do the same...I talked to my brother yesterday about it(He’s retired military) and he suggested this pistol because it’s available in Arizona(He said you can’t own one in Cali)....My question is do YOU recommend this as a good gun???.... Thanks for your advice in advance
Several comments on this video also talk about light primer strikes with their Maxims.
Sounds like this is a known issue now and not just my demo gun/ammo. I wouldn’t rely on it for a defensive pistol until they fix that issue. And- you’ll be waiting at least 9 month for your infringement tax stamp to clear.
It was in a few video games. I want to say it was in "Ghost Recon Wildlands" and "Metal Gear Soild 4".
I have one and love it
Cool! Did you do anything to the trigger?
Dustin Ellermann I didn’t , mine isn’t bad at all . Me and a buddy both got ours from gunprodeals for like $820 bucks . I’m still looking for an rmr plate to mount my Holosun 508t .
@@Michaeldpress14 was that after the 200 tax stamp?
I love the Design 😍
I love your channel! That pistol seems like a good idea and I think you had fun with it! 🙃
Love your videos i hope you get 1mil subs love ur vids ❤️
You are the best friend
I am very mad that I didn't know this guy existed until today lol
Super cool pistol. You sound so happy lol
Another great vid Dustin. Unfortunately not available in Canada. 🙁
Thanks! and yeah... sorry about the lack of freedom over there.
Hi, Dustin. Question: Are there different laws that govern where you can take a suppressed gun? Open carry the same for Maxim 9 as for other non-suppressed pistols? Concealed carry same as well? Thanks!
Not in Texas. You can carry full auto suppressed if you have the right infringement stamps to own it.
@@TopShotDustin Thanks!
Dustin I’m curious if the one you tested here is the one I just got in. Getting tons of light primer strikes on it :(
From SSA? Probably so. I had probably 4-5 light strikes with it.
@@TopShotDustin Yeah. I was having good luck with Freedom Munitions ammo, but anything Win 9mm NATO, or IMI 158 was giving me 3-4+ light primer strikes today :(
Might need to be serviced. It was brand new when I got it so that’s the only rounds through it.
@@TopShotDustin Could be. Do you recall how many rounds you put through it?
Nope. Round counter was missing when it came.
I did some nice shooting there!
Or you could save $200 and buy a CZ P-10C (with threaded barrel) and put your choice of $500 suppressor on it. The trigger on the CZ will blow the Maxim9 out of the water and when your not suppressing the gun it will make a great carry gun.
I keep watching videos on the maxim while I wait for mine.....im only at 4 months, but it feels like its been over a year lol
They should have used m-lok instead of key-mod.
Also, if they had given the opportunity to make it even longer (say, adding a second one of the first, longest, baffle) that would be rediculously fantastic (it would still be shorter then a traditional suppressed pistol)
Add a suppresser at the end xD
I want one for a glovebox gun!
Great for edc!
Dustin can you make a video on what you think is the best conceal carry handgun , most accurate and durable?who else agrees??
Rice ETR .... a video about glock 26 or ruger lcp sounds good to me. Oh wait that’s my carries.
"best" will always be subjective. But I could go over my personal choices.
Dustin Ellermann your the man Dustin 👍👍
Finally my dream firearm, and its not allowed in Canada.
Same i live in denmark all weapons that arent boltaction 1 round only are illegal here
i use this gun all the time in ghost recon breakpoint. and in the game its in short config
It kind of sounds like a paintball gun ngl
Did you see they're coming out with a new version that isn't suppressed but with a low bore axis 😉
I did not. Y U NO SUPPRESS?
Dustin Ellermann here you go: www.ballisticmag.com/2019/07/19/first-look-silencerco-non-nfa-maxim-9/
I have a pair of Maxim 9s I paid $1199 apiece for from SilencerShop - bought in late January and had in hand late April so got lucky with with the examiner on that one! I’m putting RMRs on both - probably the SRO for the bigger sight picture so not worried about POI of iron sights and have been carrying open lately around my farm during pandemic lockdown on my hip in a GunfightersInc kydex holster. They’re cool guns and can’t wait for unsuppressed version to mount a 3-lug and one of my Omega 9Ks...
I want this in call of duty.
Looks like the Auto-9 from robocop except for the ridges.
How do you like the canik? Been eyeing them. For the price seems like you get alot of gun.
I’ve got a review on it. It’s been great!
hi my friend your video is interesting and exciting. regards from friendship from indonesia
Over 4 years now and they REFUSE to fix the trigger that Hi Point would be embarrassed to have! Been asking for over 3 years now and they keep saying it is right around the corner then this year they say that they are focusing on getting orders out instead! REALLY HOW CAN A COMPANY PUT OUT A $1500 firearm WITH the ABSOLUTE WORST TRIGGER ON THE MARKET! Then refuse to do ANYTHING about it for OVER 4 YEARS!!!!!!
With longer rods, could you elongate the barrel to further suppress?
It would require extra baffle sections as well- it would have to come form the manufacture for that per the ATF infringements.
But the point of the design is the extra volume below the bore. So it’s like it’s longer already volume wise.
Oooooh yeeee
I wander what would if u put a silencer on it
Dead or alive, this gun is coming with me.
Very good ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😄😁😁
So a month later; is it in the long or short configuration right now?
It’s moved on to another reviewer. I only get to demo them. ☹️
Gun recoil pretty intense
Kinda surprised they didn't make a 22lr model.
Yeah that could be cool.
But lots of folks already make integral 22s on Ruger platforms
It kind of looks like the judge dread lawgiver or the psycho pass eliminator gun.
It looks like a laserpistol from Aliens.
Sorry, Dustin, but at 933 miles away, I’m probably not going to use you as my FFL, but I might see if I can send a Witt Machine Canooter Valve to you for testing
Klass
147gr 9mm Parabellum is superior to 165gr because the velocity drop off between 147 to 165 leads to a greater trajectory arch and lower energy transfer on target.
That's subsonic? That still sounds pretty loud.
And a crappy trigger?
Glad I can't legally own one.
I so want one of these. This would be awesome to have for home defense.
What drum mag were you using? How as the reliability for that drum?
How come you haven't put an optic on your Maxim? The one I shot did the same thing with S&B 115g, low and left. I wonder if an optic would help that?
The drum is more of a toy. In fact I was surprised it ran that well. It's from gunmagwarehouse. I went over why I didn't put an optic on it in the video ;)
@@TopShotDustin I know you went over why no optic, but that sounds like an excuse. Lol
cobra460 the gun isn’t mine and I only have a 2 week window to review it. The base plates for the RMR were out of stock. Can’t solve that problem.
@@TopShotDustin That's a shame. You probably need to rectify not owning one. As soon as I can afford one, I'm buying one.
Why isn't this chambered in .45?
This looks like that full-auto pistol in black ops 2
Edit:I think it was called the kap-40
Maliwan company likes this video😁😁😁
Why would you steal from RoboCop?
Where did you get it? How much did you pay?
I said that in the video...
It looks like the gun from command and conguer renegade
Give me one 😂👍
I would ❤️ to have this custom made with a tritium sights and in 5.7 caliber with 50 round magazine clips.
It’s like a desert eagle
Stay tuned for desert eagle review
I wonder how meny 9mms would it take to cut a tree down
stay tuned #topshottreeservice
Do you have to get a tax stamp to buy one of those
Yes. $200 tax applied to every single transfer. Or have your FFL/SOT
Not california Compliant.
LOL
How much is that
if you watched the video entirely you wouldn't ask that
1500$
I wanted to spend my sti.ul9 heck o. One but wige said nope lol
What a gun ❤️ from pakistan
The video game vibe...
i was one of the first to buy this and a friend of mine just in the last 6 months... they are both junk!!!! jam-o-matics with lots light primer strikes, i will do a proper review of this gun soon.
I had a few light primer strikes myself. No jams after a few break in mags.
NOT worth the money. It's to loud. Shouldn't be called SilencerCo. It should be called LoudCo instead.
Nice. I need one!
🖖🏻🇫🇷😎🇫🇷🤪🇫🇷🖖🏻
It actually shoots a mortar round
The superior suppressed handgun would be the M9A3 for a great many reasons.
$1500-- for the SilencerCo pistol is really just paying for a pricey corporate name.
iT GOT StUKk .!! 🥴
