The number one cause of smelly gloves is sweating in them and then LEAVING them in your bag! Bacteria feeds on sweat and produces Bromidrosis -- which causes that fowl body odor smell. If you can dry your gloves out immediately after using them, it reduces the chance of bacteria and odors forming. To clean the gloves, simply wipe the inside and out with a disinfectant wipe. Furthermore you can use an air freshener or dryer sheet to clean the inside of the gloves.

The recipe to avoid death-smelling gloves.
Ahh never thought to use silica gel!
+fightTIPS hey Shane how do I wash my muay Thai shorts I don't have a mesh bag
Silica gel?where can I get that
Victor Martinez silica is covered inside a very small square paper that you might have seen it stored inside new products that made from feather such as woman’s purses, new shoes and many others that are newly thrown in your nearby shop! silica is very common for new product because it can prevent insects, smell to live in those new things!
@@vmartinez591 If you go to Wal-Mart in the pet dept there is cat litter that is 100% silica gel. It's the cheapest that I can find about 4lbs for $4. It used to be called Mimi's cat litter but now I think the name has changed. I use it for my shoes and fishing tackle. I know some guys use it for their ammo boxes.
This isn't cleaning them, it's making them smell better... lol
Tell me about it! 😂 It’s corona season now and I work on healthcare, I need to know how to clean these gloves!!
@@psychologycited4211 the smell is litteraly from bacteria
Won 2 of 3 of my fights today and got 2nd place thanks to the tips i've been following from shane for a few months
congrats on ur wins
Thanks means a lot
+Louis Green u from uk by any chance
Yes
+Louis Green birmingham
What works real good for me is, I wipe the inside using antibacterial hand wipes then I put a moisture exorbitant bag inside the gloves. The ones I use are Moso natural mini air purifying bag - the bamboo charcoal in it dehumidifies to prevent mold, mildew and excess moisture; absorbs odors, Removes bacteria, etc, etc..
daniel vallecillo great simple idea that nobody else says. Thanks!
wow great tips thank you!
Perfect timing on the video! I just got done hitting the bag and noticed all the stank in my gloves lol
Dude everytime I have a problem this guy had done a video about it, love him haha.
Ooooh I love the dryer sheet idea. Thanks for the tips man!
my grandma told me to put a tea bag it really helps it absorbs the moisture and keeps them dry
To do after training with gloves, wraps and boxing boots listen up noobs:
1) open them up face the hole towards the window. With the wraps untangle it put them on the window too. Same with the boots.
Before training it's good to wash your hands thoroughly (I do it with cold water as your hands will be warm later on whilst training anyway.)
This is what I do and none of my boxing equipment smells.
Sounds good until you're in a gym with super stinky mitts after which you're supposed to put on your brand new gloves.
Tea bags can help with smell, I put them in my gloves after sparring and it helps.
I threw mine in the washer using the delicate option then air dry, work like a charm.
i got old school boxing gloves that are just leather with some thin plastic thing inside they work great for punching bags, i searched them online and ive seen oldschool boxers like jack dempsey, rocky marciano, and joe louis wearing them so that makes them special seeing how they dont sell in stores anymore.
Man do more of that fight like,I personally enjoy them
Thank you!!! Finally, I had the same gloves for the past 7 years now!!
so this entire 7 Years you have not thought of any ways you could of had clean your boxing gloves until you saw this video?!??
To be honest I immediately concluded that it was impossible, and just kept using them.
I realize how dumb that sounds as I typed this.
I use disinfectant wipes. They are really cheap and get the smell out fairly well. I then stick Mini Moso Natural Air Purifying Bags in them. Also really cheap and they recharge in the sun.
Good tips. I prefer using small cedar chip bags after cleaning a non-bleach wipe (PDI works great) which not only improve the smell, but also absorb moisture.
Please make a video on closing distance and what do do once you're in close
Nice no bullshit tips. Thank you.
I use the antibacterial cleaning wipes (Lemon scent or Apple), then I use a paper tissue to dry them. And yes, Always keep them out of the gym bag. In Uk we got Dettol or the cheap ASDA/Walmart ones :)
Shane can u please do a video on an exercise or a tip to grow arm endurance? Love all ur vids btw
Thanks this really helped
Thank you i really needed the advise
Before you train, rub your hands with alcohol. Get a clean sock put baking soda in it, tie it and spray a little Lysol on it, then stuff it in the glove for a couple of hours. Then get a clean small hand towel, sprinkle baby powder on it, then dust excess baby powder off and stuff it in the glove for another couple of hours.
Alcohol is too much, just wash your hands with soap
I usually just put some baking sods directly into the glove, the sock is a nice idea I suppose
Shane! I commented this already on another video of yours but can you make a tutorial for the Butterfly kick or the B-Kick?? Thanks!
After ever session I always spray inside gloves with antibacterial spray like fabrese type spray then massage gloves lightly to spread inside them, this I find always prevents the smell and rot, but you must do it after ever session, my sweaty gloves never smell..
Thank you so much
I got a pair of 12 oz Warrior Internationals and.... Well I'll just say I needed this video LOL!
would bleach free disinfectant wipes be good for cleaning the exterior of my gloves for cleaning off blood and sweat of them??
thanks Shane I live your videos
Does lysol works too?
Really good video
I needed this so bad!!!!!
Nice video Shane!
Title boxing sells sanitizer spray made for boxing gloves that kills bacteria and fungus. It works pretty well, I tried the one that smells like citrus. I also use their "Glove Dogs", which are felt pouches filled with cedar chips that you shove inside your gloves for storage. My gym used to have a "Glove Tree" which is a contraption that you insert your gloves on and it blows air inside them all night long. Those things are the BEST. Title Boxing used to sell those too but I just went to their site and could not find one, so I don't know if they are still being made. They might be found on EBay or Amazon.
I've been working to condition my shins and i kicked the 85lb bag about 400 times but it's not very bruised.. does that mean it's not working? any advice will help
Shane I won my 2nd kickboxing match. I have a record of 2-0 now. Thank you for the tips that helped me get fight ready.
That's awesome, man! Keep up the good work and keep evolving.
+fightTIPS Thanks Shane your the best
Hey Shane how do you fight a person who runs away from you? I had a bully who would always run away before I could throw any punches at him.
good tips
Hey Shane typing from the UK here because of you i have found my local Krav Maga class and i am attending them yesterday was my very first class in Krav Maga and i was taught how to disarm someone with a gun !
I'm not Dhane but just take it as a compliment please, good job and i hope the krav maga goes well
Ok thanks i appreciate it
sounds like masking the odor than cleaning, would a damp rag with some cleaning liquid work? just rub the inside of the glove then let it dry or whatever?
+TheGeckoNinja yes i do that once a month
thanks shane
This helped me alot
placing dried coffee nearby my used gloves works for me
Off topic question, do you know anyone who has had a tfcc tear that has fully recovered. I got a tear 7 months ago and havent been able to box or do mma. I really don't know that it will ever heal...
thank you bassed shane
Hey Shane I do boxing at the place called Black Force MMA and they all kinds of different classes and I usually clean my gear with the febreeze but sometimes I will not clean them and it really stinks so thanks for tip I'll try it next time I go :)
a boot warmer that has glove warmer attachment. i have one that i use for work boots and my boxing gloves
how would you fight against someone smaller than you?
The people that push dislike on this video, probably dont like clean gloves!. LOL.
Good Video man nice tips
Shane what is the best way to grow strength
Is there another way to practice by yourself without equipment other than shadow boxing?
hey bro love the vids. you should do a video on chewing gum and if it helps your jaw for a fight in any way I've been curious.
try putting tea bags inside them it will adsorb the moisture and make them smell better
You are awesome
"leave that sheet in there" lol
Lol that's why I love my completely fashion knitted gloves, pop them suckers in the wash and boom! Done! Lol!
How about Lysol for the bacteria?
shane..how do i clean my full attire sparring gear?
really helpful
myself never clean my boxing gloves im so nasty :( going do it right now
Gotta keep my powerlocks smelling new
using Febrezeor anti bacterial spray can devastate gloves construction bad advice man
what about antibacterial hand wipes?
when are sweet science making new gloves?
his boxing gloves are the hybrids
Spray with white vinager then stuff news paper in side them so they dry. White Vinager is a antibacterial and antifungal and won't ruin the leather.
Yo Shane I've found n tried that putting tea bags in the gloves and gym bag will rid the smell, but this has to be left inside for 2 days
I'd imagine dry tea bags, correct? Thanks for the tip!
In other news, Shane, what are your thoughts on Klitschko pulling out of the fight against Fury due to an alleged injury?
Buy some stuffits, it is some littles inserts you put into your gloves, made of natural cedar that absorb humidity and protect your gloves from moisture and odor. Bought it for my new faitex, in tree month they still smell like brand new.
Washing and dry hands before wearing the gloves also helps. A 'silica dry pack' keeps them dry and also stops bacteria to grow . They normally use those with food items.
shane what if 3 or 4 dudes try to attack u at school and ur by yourself im saying this cuz i got jumped by 3 dudes at my new school how do i fight multiple opponents
You run and fuck em up one at a time later, or you could get back up of your own. I wouldn't suggest bringing weapons to school but I wouldn't not suggest ya feel?
I use revgear glove dogs and an antibacterial wipes to clean the inside of the boxing gloves.
I spray the inside with rubbing alcohol and then Lysol. I also use portable UV lights that are meant for shoes and I shove those on for 15 mins at a time to kill the bacteria
How effective are UV lights for gloves?
hey i had a fight today with a family member lol, and i know a good bit of muay thai, have a lot to learn though, and as i said he is just my brother so he knows nothing about fighting so all he did is punch (and fail) (he laid his hand on my sholder to turn me so i ducked and uppercutted so technically i hit him first but he swung first so sadly i did something you might not be proud of ) it was more like a 12yr old boxing match (hes 16 though )so he has longer reach than me so i hit him then after i hit him once i took my opportunity to step in and took it, then worked in the inside and beat his ass bad hey tried a really poorly executed haymaker and i rolled it and stepped in and i used a lot of your tactics like rolling, stepping in, parrying. blocking and more basics and beat him. But as you say always watch your fights and learn what you did wrong, then learn what you did right, so i did and i noticed that i was working low with uppercuts to the head and a little of jabs and hooks all to the head i did land a knee to the hip (i was aiming for stomach but didn't pull my knee up enough when i could of) i did really well on the inside but after i hit him a bit i noticed i started elevating up and he noticed i was slowly started elevating up so he hit me so what i need you to maybe tell me is that if your down low and have your head down low... when do you bring your head back up or stand straight so to say ( i was pretty much crouching and punching his face from down low so when is a good time to stand back up?? thank you if you answer and thanks for the "how to clean your gloves video" ( PUBLIC CONVERSATION YOUR INPUT MIGHT BE APPRECIATED but please tell me your opinion and i would love to know if your are just a commenter on your opion or your are in a fighting sport, remeber it was more of a boxing match, so boxers i would love your input if your not a boxer or anything like that please let me know thank you)
I wipe mine out with anti bacteria wipes and air out seems to work well.
Which one? did it work for long?
I stuff my gloves with newspaper as soon as i come home from training. Then you just leave them outside the bag with the paper in over the night, and then they are dry and they dont smell. Works for me at least. And its a pretty cheap solution
fight like? im not hating just asking i loved that series, btw if you are going to could you do a dominick cruz one?
what can i do if there is dried blood on the fabric area that some gloves have (in the palm area but on the outside)?
Alcohol diluted with water or try soapy water/fabric cleaner on damp towel
Shane this is for you last vid about fat protect against body shots, it def. does lol. The Roy nelson barnet fight last night, Barnet punched and kneed his gut for 5 rounds. it did tire roy out but not a lot of damage
+Deep Meister I think that was more heart than the fat protecting him tbh.
I'm also scared of this one kid but I don't know who would win in a fight me or him. Is there any reason I should be scared? And should I be scared or no?
I soak mine with rubbing alcohol and wipe them right after use
Then baby wipes when I get home and let them hang dry
Has worked so far and the rubbing alcohol doesn't ruin the material
I use a rag to dry the inside when it gets sweady
The best way to remove the bacteria and stop them smelling is by putting some wet black tea bags in. The black tea bags will kill all the bacteria they come in contact with. great for removing odour from shoes too.
Good
The washer is also a good idea xD
I wouldn't do that, if you keep putting them in the washing machine, it will damage the Velcro straps.
Could you put them in the washer
Buy anti bacteria wipes or a cloth dipped in alchol an squeeze it till it's damp then wipe away.
alcohol will destroy your leather gloves quite fast
What's the most trouble I can get into if I get into a fight at school?
+Cameron MacDonald you could get offended, beat up pretty badly, or get permenant injuries(flattened balls, broken nose, etc) depending on the kind of fight but if you are willing to use severe techniques then you could piss them off and make them hurt you bad
i put my gloves and a dehumidifier into a plastic container. the dehumidifier with suck up the sweat from your gloves.
do you like hyabusa gloves?
Bro can I wash the gloves with salt
Love ur vids
okey thats all great and stuff but what if i told you my cat piss over it how do you clean it then?
