Watching Trevor attempt to argue with Simon is both hilarious and embarrassing 😂🤦🏻♂️
Literally like watching a toddler argue a professor 🤷🏻♂️
Liverpool and Manchester United are where they are through natural progression not by money injection if there where no investment in city they would still be playing in front of a half empty stadium

I know we can all be biased and the same goes for pundits but Trevor just outright lies to push his argument. You can’t just say ‘it was thrown out of court’ when it wasn’t. He’s a muppet of a pundit and I have no idea how he’s got this platform

I'm a Liverpool fan, but I can understand why players sometimes even take pay cuts to join either Barca or Real Madrid. They are still seen as the pinnacle and the allure is very hard to resist. For me it would be Barca. Playing in the Nou Camp must be amazing.
Barcelona is a finished club.
I mean look at Christensen he’s taking a pay cut to play for Barca next season. The lure of that club is too infectious for players
@@erickarias3309 Too big to be finished. They might be going through rough times, but they're rebuilding and will rise again. Remember, football is cyclical.
@@pedroneves3153 Michael Owen did the same when he joined RM.
I am a Liverpool fan too and sometimes you just have to admit that not always but mostly Real Madrid and Barcelona have more of an allure than LFC and MCFC. It’s just one of them things.
There's a difference between someone having more money through fair means and the other club having more money through circumventing the rule
Simple thought to ponder. When Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema and few other players signed for Madrid in the late 2000s, why did they do so when Real hadnt even been able to go past the Round of 16 in the champions League for however many years. It was because of the lure and history of the club.
Simon spot on yet again - “ I don’t know how to argue that Trevor” united always be a bigger club but the pull of Madrid is hard to ignore for a footballer it’s the crème da la crème no question …..
With Trevor’s point about all teams being invested in, it was Chelsea and Man City that completely caused the inflation to rise as high as it is and got away with it because ffp wasn’t a thing

How can Trevor say city is a better option than Real Madrid?! I'm a United fan and I don't kid myself that players would rather go Real Madrid or Barcelona...
Becuz current status of the club and what your role will be is more important than "history" of the club
Depends on where you want to live....i don't see why a player would care about anything else.
@@Tderesse but if any of the city fans actually pay attention to the current status of clubs like Madrid and Barcelona, they're still the biggest clubs in the world. @@sprinter1832 Yes, but nobody else at TALKsport(apart from Simon himself) knows it when he's wrong.
What was Steve thinking getting into an argument with Simon, it was always going to end one way 😂
The real issue is people caring too much about what other people want to do, a player wants to go play at a park down the street ? Ok that’s not your business, the real issue here is Trevor is jealous of Madrids lure.
"Do Madrid have a chance to win the Champions league?"
"Not comparer to City and Liverpool"
Madrid proceed to beat both to win the CL 🤣🤣
Real Madrid (and Barcelona) still have the greater allure irrespective of form and depending on the players nationality (anywhere but the UK) and will do until City win it 3 or 4 times. The red bull analogy is also an understandable one - the achievements are still legitimate but it is essentially new money vs the old guard.
Typical City fan response "Urgh, you're just jealous of our money".
🤣
Then argue that money is NOT the reason why Pep is so successful !
That was a great comparison by Simon of Real being Ferrari and City being Red Bull
Simon is bang on how can anyone put Man City in the same sense as United and Madrid in terms off how big the club is
Trevor is delusional. City is a soulless club that was randomly selected by oil sheikhs to be successful. Nowhere near United, Liverpool, Madrid or even Arsenal in terms of history. These City fans are plastic fans of the sport and don’t understand the magic that goes into it from a player’s perspective whatsoever. City, empty club chosen to be successful with billions. The others, earned their reputation from decades of dominance. City fans are deluded
And which City fan said they are as 'big' as those clubs?? They mean they are 'better' which is correct.
@@spark556 right now yes they are better but they brought there success. Real Madrid 13 times champions league winners United 20 times champtions off England winners 3 times European cup winners Liverpool 6 times European cup winners 19 time champions off England history at them clubs legendary to become a great at a great club. When City change ownership they will fall
Some of these Man City fans are light headed these days. From decades & decades of being relegation fodder to the unexpected dizzy heights of the Premier League. Vertigo is real folks.
It might be fair to say that there is an allure to playing for Guardiola, rather than the club itself.
Very true
As a MC fan as long as they don't win even a solitary CL , you can't even think of comparing City with RM in any way or the other.
Simon is correct again about Real Madrid

I don't necessarily always agree with Simon, but my god why do they get Trevor on the show? Almost everything he says is biased af and usually wrong

Honestly the state of football punditry in this country pisses me off. Why do we insist on employing so many ex-footballers as pundits? The vast majority (bar a few exceptions) offer a level of analysis any average football fan could offer

Haaland picked City over Madrid and Mahrez chose City over PSG , what is Simon on about lol
Madrid is probably 10× the club that man city is football wise and they can still compete financially without any oil money 💀
The only reasons city got a good chance of getting halaand is because real already have benzema and is getting mbappe and it wouldn't be sensible for haaland to go a team that doesn't need a striker
You really think being the star at city is equal to being the star at madrid?🤣 Look at benzema and bale who were the 2nd and 3rd option scorers for madrid and still had a bigger name than city's main man
98% of the times players will choose teams like historic clubs like real madrid, barca and bayern, juventus, liverpool (even man utd) over oil clubs like psg and city and that's just a fact🤷🏽♂️

difference between city liverpool and utd when liverpool were winning back in 70s and 80s they were doing coz of the money coming thru the gates likewise with MU when city have been winning since 2011 its coz of oil money same as chelsea and i expect in a couple of years newcastle will be there.
John Henry and his £300 million Liverpool investment was in 2010, just two years after the purchase of Man City. That money didn't come from gate receipts you know.
