    A few years ago we had a young male ferret, about 3 years old, die unexpectedly. We didn’t notice that he was attempting to use the litter box frequently until it was too late. I decided to do an autopsy to look for a blockage as I had it happen to a rabbit once before. It turned out he had no intestinal blockage but rather a very full bladder that was full of stones. It looked like 50+ stones. Some quite large. Any idea what could cause that to happen?

    Hello, I just discovered your channel. My ferret was recently diagnosed with neoplasia. He is about 7 or 8. He has a mass on his gums, as well as itchy masses on his neck. Before I looked at his gums, I noticed he was licking up his pee. Is there anything you can share on that. I have treated his adrenal disease for years now, and I am as picky as I can be about what products I have fed him. There is hardly any information about ferret cancer out there. Looking for answers. Might be losing my sweet babe a lot sooner than I thought as his quality of life is good. Thanks for your content.

    Ive been doing research for ferrets for over four years in waiting to get a ferret, and havent found resources as reliable as this to date. Thank you!!
    Ive been searching to adopt a ferret where I live- no luck. My only option is a couple pet stores, but I plan on buying from one that i already trust, as they "quiz" you on the animal youre about to buy, as well as the fact that theyre very transparent about where they get their animals.. The ferrets arent from mills, thank goodness!
    Im still very confused on the diets though. Im planning to feed my future ferret on a freeze-dried wysong brand diet. Ive never used freeze dried food before, and dont really understand how to feed it/store it. All i can find on the topic is general discourse about kibble vs freeze dried diets.. Kind of a pain!!
    Anyways, your videos are very informative and well organized. Thank you!

    My ferret has a orange spot on his skin, he’s had it for a year or two now .. he eats and poops well. But basically just wanders around the house getting into closets and what not.. not too energetic or eager to play unless he has a bath first . When he is wet he is wild..I know this orange spot bothers him as he chews at it and doesn’t like to have it touched.. I admit I feed him a little vegetable oil on his soups and he now and then gets a nibble of a doughnut..

  • @26tina59
    @26tina59 4 роки тому +1

    I appreciate your videos and your array of knowledge and videos. It's taught me a lot about my ferrets and how to provide the best treatment for them. Do you think you could talk more about alternatives to a raw diet? I understand that it is the best thing, but I'm not able to do that right now. You attributed almost all of these diseases back to not feeding a raw diet and all of your videos tend to be a repetitive guilt trip if you don't feed raw.

    • @eviolus-5660
      @eviolus-5660 4 роки тому +2

      You could try freeze dried raw, though it is still expensive. Generally good quality kibble costs more than feeding raw (frankenprey anyway). If you must feed kibble opt for grain free and veg free cat food

    • @Pazuandfriends
      @Pazuandfriends  4 роки тому +2

      I’m a raw feeding channel, I promote it. There are plenty other ferret accounts that discuss kibble. Knowing the dangers of kibble I don’t feel comfortable recommending it to people to keep their ferrets safe. I’m very passionate about pet food!
      A lot of these diseases have been proven to be prevented and / or managed well with a raw diet. Idk what else you want me to say! I’m not going to lie. At the end of the video I reiterate that just because my ferrets are raw fed doesn’t keep them 100% safe from things like cancer, adrenal disease and the flu.
      I’m sorry you feel that way about my channel, but raw feeding has done wonders for my ferrets and many other people, so I will continue to talk about it. There’s a lack of information out there on ferret specific raw nutrition.

    • @pgakt
      @pgakt 4 роки тому +3

      I hate to be harsh, but they are animals who NEED raw meat and kibble DOES cause all these illnesses... it isn’t a guilt trip, it’s the true effects of a kibble diet on ferrets

    • @Pazuandfriends
      @Pazuandfriends  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you...I feel bad that they think I’m guilt tripping people. Sometimes that’s the only way to get people to change their ways.
      I would just hate for a ferret to have a medical issue on a food I recommended and it come back to me. I’m terrified of that!

    • @pgakt
      @pgakt 4 роки тому +1

      @@Pazuandfriends It's kind of like trying to feed a cat a vegan diet, it just isn't okay for them, no matter how many people try to convince you it is

    hi i love your videos i love binge watching them especially the ones about raw feeding, I've been wanting a ferret for 5 and a half years and in 3 months i'll graduate university so i'm thinking of getting a ferret then, *how do i let a ferret adjust to a new home?* like do i leave him undisturbed in the cage for a few days and only offer food and water ? sorry if it seems stupid but i genuinely want to bond with him properly without pressuring him or anything, i'm planing of getting another ferret when i get employed so he doesn't become lonely sorry for all these questions but *should let him continue to eat kibble for two weeks then transition him to raw ? or can i start immediately ?*

    • @eviolus-5660
      @eviolus-5660 4 роки тому

      It would be better to get two or more. Let them roam freely and don't disturb them when in the cage at first so they can feel safe there, they will be eager to explore the second you put them down. If you get a young ferret raw food immediately shouldn't be an issue but if the ferret is older than 6 months I'd recommend keeping them on familiar food while they get settled. (Just my opinion)

      YES. Ferrets and other animals can contract Covid-19 but the transmission and infection characteristics differ from one species to another. Specifically, ferrets can catch the virus and they may end up with mild symptoms. Transmission of the virus between them is difficult, however.
