Congrats! And compliments to the original owner for the excellent maintenance. Speaks volumes on how a person lives their life. Plus he now gets to enjoy watching his old boat on your channel.
Absolute beauty of a boat.....Great find and massive respect to the original owner for selling on a superb example to yourself. Wish there were more people around like that.
Best advice ever, test the engine, Dad bought a boat on impulse, lovely seller, on the offer of an engine start up Dad said no lets get going we have driven a long way, The flywheel had spun on the crank and welded itself around the woodruff key......the subsequent repairs cost 50% of the sale price agreed.......15ft Pilot Dory......
Many Congrats, she looks great. We have had a 165 for 2 years now and they are brilliant. The only problem we had from when we bought her was funnily enough the keel band that you don't have. Ours had a keel band in 2 parts and the lead section of the second part had caught on a trailer roller at some stage snapping the mounting screw and damaging the keel roller. Hence thereafter it caused damage each time it was recovered. Before we used her we drilled out the snapped mounting screw, filled the subsequent hole, put in a new screw and used an appropriate glue/sealer as well to ensure if it ever happens again the keel band will remain stuck to the keel. We run ours with twin batteries, twin tanks, and most importantly a bilge pump directly wired(with a fuse) to by- pass the battery isolators so it will always work. Love the comment about the bung, I have a relative in New Zealand who named his boat Bung-it, so he would never forget. Take care stay safe and Enjoy her as much as we do ours. Thanks for keeping us all sane through the last year or so!
Hello John, congratulations, I'm sorry I was sick for a while I could not comment on you, I was happy to see you with your new boat, good luck ❤️ from Shiraz, Iran
Just like everyone else here, congrats on the new boat, and enjoy it in good health! There's nothing like buying a used boat that is in new condition. I'm excited to see it in action on the water! WooHoo!
Great choice John I can't wait to see you out in it and fishing, she's a beauty and in pristine condition by the looks, congratulations and well done.👍
I have had a warrior 165 for 6 or 7 years now, you will love it. a great boat, couldn't find fault with them all, great driving into seas and a lovely stable fishing platform. Enjoy
Wide outdoor carpet covered boards provide much better overall hull support on a boat trailer rather than rubber or synthetic rubber rollers that can create pressure points and sometimes crack or punch through a boats hull. It's an easy job to change over.
As a new subscriber to your channel and new to sea fishing I am finding your videos suburb. Your attention to detail and ability to deliver information is first rate. Thank you.
Great looking boat John, looking forward to seeing her down on the water. As you say it pays to look after your boat. Just hope we gets some better weather, less wind to be able to use them. All the very best with your new venture.
Looks a lovely boat John. And in immaculate condition. Look forward to seeing it on the water and hope you and your family have many happy days on it. You all deserve it. Some really great advice and tips, which I am sure will be appreciated by people looking to buy a boat. Stay safe. 😷 Stay safe
What a beauty! Very nice John and very well kept. You know you have got a real deal especially with service histories. I reckon you will enjoy getting this baby onto the water!! Take care mate and enjoy your present to yourself haha. All the best Graham🎣🛥🛥
Really pleased for you! I like seeing deserving people get good stuff. I am thinking about buying a boat for the first time and your videos have given me a valuable reality check.
Had a warrior 165 with a Suzuki 70hp engine, great little boat is a little prone to porpoising, trim tabs help. had fold-down rear seat gives best of both worlds down for fishing, up for family trips. Would cruise at 18-20mph, many great trips. Think you will enjoy the 170.
You've done very well there, good for you & he couldn't have sold it to a better buyer. One small point I might add is I've had engine problems that never show up running in a barrel/engine muffs, until it is under load n the water, so I'd always suggest a sea test if at all possible, it doesn't mean flat out, just pushing the boat along nicely. In case you're wondering, mine ran beautifully until under load, when it eventually turned out it had the wrong pitch propeller, DOH! I'm looking forward to seeing it in the water & so are your Family.
This is a well presented, useful guide to buying a boat. You have put some very good considerations and observations which apply to buying any pre-owned item of any equipment. The part about establishing the right price for both parties is very valid, and will so often lead to a better experience. So is staying inside your budget, as we all have to remember that BOAT is an acronym for Break Out Another Thousand! Yet another great video, thanks.
A beauty there you have bought! In excellent condition from your video shown here. I usually place my most importance on the condition of the hull, whether it has been damaged n repaired, how deep is the V throughout the hull (an extended deep V to the transom is not a stable platform when anchored)...most things of a boat you can change, add n improve but you can't do anything about a bad or poor hull.
She looks fantastic, should get years of enjoyment out of owning it. I look forward to seeing the future videos and finding out if you can catch fish from her, think how many dogfish you'll be able to fit in!
Hi John, congratulations on the new boat, a great boat the warrior 170, I have just bought a new (second hand) boat a Quicksilver 605, hope to see you out in Falmouth bay, like you I can`t wait to get the boat wet and start catching fish, keep the videos coming, cheers
Congratulations John. The warrior is my favourite boat, and am considering buying one myself. Can't wait for your thoughts on handing ,sea worthiness performance in comparison to the last. Happy for you mate..
Cracking looking boat you’ve bought John, I hope it serves you well. You can check engine hours when you switch the ignition on to position 1, the Rev counter will show engine hours and then zero. 👍🏻 You can eliminate mould by not having any moisture left in the boat, ever. Ropes and nets will give off moisture under the black canopy, condense and promote mould. Remove ropes and rag dry the bilge, some sponge between cover and boat allows air flow.
Exciting Stuff!!! New boat.I am now on boat #17. There is a boating disease called 2foot itis here in Canada and I sure had it.Good luck and enjoy the boat! Darryl in Canada!
Watched your previous video on the different boats and I was thinking the Warrior would be my choice and look what you bought. Boat is in excellent condition, nice upgrade!
Outstanding. Your boats are so different than put shallow water boats here in Florida I had a 16’ actioncraft flats boat. 90hp Yamaha. Rated to 150. But would never take it out in real deep water. But you must ask thr question what is it going to be used for. Family or fishing. Deep water or shallow. And size. Great job on the video.
Great stuff! That's a fine boat for all the reasons you mentioned, and Great advice. I'm out in my sailing boat on the northwest Coast of Scotland and been really enjoying your videos with the phone up the mast as a hot spot, thanks a million and best wishes from ( currently) Loch Sunart.
Great vid! we have always been wilson flyers or of late we purchased a flying fox but pretty much the same but with pointed bow. Just realized why we were fair weather fishermen. lol The new bow line creates a good combo. The new girl looks brand new. Great buy. Look forward to more fishing from the West. ATB
Excellent and informative video. Looking forward to seeing you fishing from her. Only thing I would add is to check the original invoice or resale invoices to ensure the VAT was paid (a low risk but it is risk). A friend got caught out when buying a very old land rover.
A beautiful boat indeed John. You must be 'itching' to get her in the water! Are you considering getting a keel band fitted? Another excellent video and follow-up to the 'Boats to consider' video; can't wait to see her on the oggin!
how come I never have luck like you, well done that man. I would have belieived you if had said you had just bought a spnaking brand new one .How and where on earth did he keep it to keep it in that condition its beautiful. must have had a heated airconditioned airtight container.. hope you get many years of enjoyment from it as we certainly will watching you give us more of your brilliant videos '
Congratulations! Love your new boat. now, the only other thing you need is an old deck hand that will work for food alone, you know, a lobster here, a few scallops there, some fat mackerel from time to time... Interested?
I’ve seen you have done a few videos on owning your first boat. They are very informative. I’ve been looking at a boat for myself but I’ve found it hard finding out the correct information regarding paperwork requirements ie do I need a license? Some site state you need a licence that you apply to the DVLA for. Others have no mention of having to have one. It would be very informative to have a video outlining the correct information or where the correct information can be obtained. I hopefully look forward to a new video soon. Regards neil
Congratulations and may the good lord bless you and your family and to keep you safe always I love to watch your father-in-law cooking can you show more lol God bless
Oh John , you produce such really informative vids , wish I knew about your channel before I bought my 16 ft Orkney mk 1, great boat but I messed up buying it with having no knowledge of buying boats except for when I lived on the Canal . Trailer condition is VITAL but I was thinking about getting a sea worthy boat, trailer was secondary...WRONG ! Without a solid trailer you cannot get the boat to the Ocean , so any boat is useless sat on the drive...big learning curve . Thanks John for the Finest fishing , foraging and boating channel available , from a great bloke , who is not a millionaire , but knows and shares . We love all you do John..only one criticism, my Girlfriend thinks your channel is the only one worth watching, she is not happy on boats on the ocean and rarely fishes ...so I wonder what the attraction is ? Tell Hannah , she will know what it is .
Hey John, a sound purchase - how old is she? Really looking forward to seeing you all out on her, having fun and seeing those blue fins hopping on to the deck...haha - Nice one :)
What a great buy, it looks brand new. Well done, how easy do you think it will be to launch from trailer single handed, I am looking for a Warrior myself and will be single handed most of the time. Maybe you could make a video of you launching and more importantly (for me in my advancing years) recovering the boat single handed onto the trailer. Similar to the one of your Orkney.
John you got a good one there looks like new... and well looked after. Well done to the owner! It would be something I’d look for if I was buying a boat! I would be over the moon to have this one... Don’t know the price but I’m sure the deal was right for you both.... look forward to her flying on the water! Excellent advice on all the other aspects on buying a boat! Great advice as normal.. keep the vids going. Tight lines B
Congrats! And compliments to the original owner for the excellent maintenance. Speaks volumes on how a person lives their life. Plus he now gets to enjoy watching his old boat on your channel.
Is a Brand new 🆕 boat ⛵
Congrats!😊
You can't stop smiling can you?
You'll see a huge different between your Orkney and the 170 Warrior and your range gives you so many more options😁
Enjoyyour new boat , a very happy moment !

Well done, she is a Beauty. I didn't think your smile could get any bigger ! Looking forward to the new shows and experiences on her. 👍
Many Congrats, she looks great. We have had a 165 for 2 years now and they are brilliant. The only problem we had from when we bought her was funnily enough the keel band that you don't have. Lovely boat @Fishlocker looks nearly new! Well done. 👏🏻👍🏻🎣
Wide outdoor carpet covered boards provide much better overall hull support on a boat trailer rather than rubber or synthetic rubber rollers that can create pressure points and sometimes crack or punch through a boats hull. It's an easy job to change over.

Wow, what a fantastic boat, deals like that are not very common these days, can't wait to see you on the water with it.
As a new subscriber to your channel and new to sea fishing I am finding your videos suburb. Your attention to detail and ability to deliver information is first rate. Thank you.
Thank you Philip, I hope the videos help folks out. 😊
Great looking boat John, looking forward to seeing her down on the water. As you say it pays to look after your boat. Just hope we gets some better weather, less wind to be able to use them. All the very best with your new venture.

Beautiful John. So happy for you. Good information as usual. Very interesting. Thanks. 👍🏻

Beautiful boat and well deserved, congratulations.
I don't know if you ever teach any kind of courses or anything, but I reckon you'd be an excellent instructor.
Had a warrior 165 with a Suzuki 70hp engine, great little boat is a little prone to porpoising, trim tabs help.
had fold-down rear seat gives best of both worlds down for fishing, up for family trips.

Fantastic. I'm just about to buy a boat and this has been terrifically helpful 🙂🙂
