- A beautiful day on the boat and some exciting news. I have just agreed to work with Garmin as a Garmin Fishing Ambassador. Good on you for taking a little sponsorship, sounders have come on so much that it would be great to have someone like you really show us around them . And before people moan, its not cheating. We have been finding fish like this for years, it's just now we mere mortals can read the screen a bit better . Still got to find them and catch them, its a huge sea out there !!
What makes your videos so interesting, and so watchable, is that like so many “hunters”, your love of your target, (in your case fish), your interest in their lives and their environment on a real and practical level makes you as much scientist, as a fisherman. I really love your enthusiasm, your humour and deep knowledge as well as the excitement of what you catch. The difference between you and me is that I cannot get excited with a wrasse when i want to get a BASS !!.
Haha. A fish is a fish. And I’d much rather catch a 5lb wrasse than a 5lb bass.
What impresses me most about that sounder is that you see that fairly detailed image on a day when the boat is rocking around quite a bit. I've seen videos of anglers in the USA using them for ice fishing and when sounder is fixed in position, the detail is astonishing. You can see the fishes' tails moving. Amazing and worrying at the same time. In the wrong hands the fish have no chance.
Freshwater clarity gives a better picture also. We have a lot of plankton in the water atm.
You can't beat, fishing on light tackle, brilliant John 🤓🎣

Was out in my kayak around at Austell bay on Saturday it was stunning . Did see alot of small fish about unfortunately didn't have the best days fishing but hey that's how it goes. We are blessed to live in such an amazing part of the world.
Sometimes there’s just too much bait fish around mate.
I've got Livescope on my Bass Boat and my charter boat. It has definitely improved my clients cathes on board, and most of them love it. And my bass tournament standings have definitely improved the last two years.

Totally agree the cuckoo wrasse definitely best looking fish in our waters , congratulations for earning the ambassadorship deserved , but to be fair the only thing i knew what you were talking about was the transom on the boat only because i know how strong they have to be . brilliant content as always...garmin picked a winner for sure...no other youtubers i've seen explain things like John does...i'm inland so rarely fish salt water except on my summer holidays and John really explains tactics, rigs, tides etc in laymans terms. i love his content.

They might be called _Cuckoo_ wrasse, but for their brilliant colors, I'll always think of them as _peacock_ wrasse. They're just too darn pretty. And as soon as I saw the dolphins sporting in your wake and playing with you, I knew you'd have a good day, no matter what you might hook; to have dolphins accompany you is an ages-old omen of good fortune for a reason~😉

Well done, John, looks like a nice bit of kit. It'll be good to see some larger fish showing on the screen. I've bought a whole batch of those lures and they have worked well. Best thing is that you can change hook size and the fish can't bite the bloody tails off of them like some of the plastics.
They do last better than the soft plastics don’t they. 😊👍🏻

Interesting seeing how these electronics work, but I can't help thinking they are taking some of the mystery and excitement out of our sport. I watch guys on Rutland water barely taking their eyes off the two or three screens in front of them whilst dropshot fishing for zander and perch. Each to their own I know, but it's not for me I'm afraid. Excellent video again keep them coming 👍

Superb stuff as always John, congratulations on the sponsorship/ambassador, its well deserved, and well done Garmin for not wanting to be messing around with the channel dictating a certain amount of adverts put all over the content, has ruined many a good channel, they have some truly amazing technology at Garmin. those mackies would have gone straight in the sweet tin smoker if id have caught them, they are wonderful food. those Dolphins were a bit special, never tire of seeing them but to get Bottlenosed is amazing, this was a great watch, really enjoyable half hour, thanks for sharing this with us all mate

John - when you and the family make it back across the Pond to th Old Dominion [Virginia], I'll take you canoeing on the South Fork of the Shanandoah River. The fishing and scenery are outstanding. At the end, we take a cavern tour, choice of three or more in the area and for James, we'll stop at a local ice cream shop to cool off from the sun and rest the arms. All of this within two hours of DC.
You can have a play around with it when we go fishing next bud. 👍🏻

The last time I saw fish with those colours we were snorkeling off the Maldives! The kids (still 15 yrs on) rave that it was the holiday of our lives! The wrasse had those kinds of colours, but if he were being modest! LOL! I had NO idea there were fish with those colours in UK waters!
