Me: *installs everything to door* "no one's getting through that"
At night: *forgets to lock door*
I've gotten up in the dark hours "just to check" if I did in fact lock the door.
back in 08 my dad bought a house in nowhere, north carolina. few days after moving in we were robbed. the same day my dad went to home depot and came home with a bunch of supplies to pin-lock all the windows and reinforce door frames with quarter inch steel. over the years we saw a couple scrapes and tool marks but never were we robbed again.
That’s kinda scary to wake up one morning and find evidence of somebody trying to burglarize your house or possibly worse
@@christiansnyder2183 it was actually when I came home from school my dad was at work and I started to notice things were slightly off so I went looking for the double barrel and it was missing.... so I ran to neighbors and called cops
@@xxmeanyheadxx it's one thing to realize you're being robbed, but to find out it's your weapon, what's stollen, is on another level. Did the guy get caught?
Don't forget that many door frame areas have been drilled and nailed to death. When you replace door reinforce and repair the jam. A weak structure can fail with sufficient force. I managed an apartment complex and we had break ins and a rape. I doubled up the wood, used security strike plates and wood cored metal doors. Also reinforce the hinged side! That is another failure point folks miss. One more note. Select knot and defect free wood and try to find with grain pattern that is parallel to the strike plate. Stronger against strike forces and will have better grip on the long screws.
Could you explain the grain being parallel to the strike plate? Is that for the grain of the wood of the door? Or the frame? And does that mean the wood grain should be mostly perpendicular to the direction the door opens?
These doors will save your life when police come to raid the wrong house.
@Biggus Dickus read your username out loud to yourself before you make comments like that lol
Now that you have a fortress door, lets talk about the fortress window.
Security film is just as cheap as these options and works amazingly well.

I always thought the door kicking was just a hollywood-movie thing. I'm quite shocked to find out it seems to be normal in the US for doors to be so frail. Try that kicking here in Germany and you will at best break your ankle. I was looking into how to make my door safer but seems like I'll have to look up some german videos instead :D
I remember being some pub or perhaps gasthaus and looking g up at the ceiling joists that were probably something equivalent to 4x 8 or 4x 10. Set like a foot or at most 16 inches on center. Oh yeah who knows how old and dense and perfect that wood was? Those beams were 150-200 years old. I remember now this was in Mengsberg ( Neustadt) in Hessen.
Respect brother all the good people involved.
Jason kicks the door 25 times, a criminal gives up after two kicks and uses a brick to put the window through instead.
That's what I said why go thru all the effort when the window is glass ?
xadam2dudex because most criminals won’t want to waste that much time one people probably heard them banging the door and if not that there definitely gonna hear that brick crashing though the window which will give you enough time if your home to prepare yourself and grab your fire arm, if your not home people on the block will most likely spot them.
Then possibly being knocked out by said brick when it bounces off the bullet proof glass
The intensity in those kicks, and that form too, chefs kiss
We installed a steel back door. Lots of break ins previously, in our area, through patio doors. I had the pleasure of looking out around midnight, with no lights on, at a bunch of baffled would be burglars staring at my shiny door. Turned on the light and they ran for it.
What if he’s smart and goes through the window...
Bullet proof windows with slash proof curtains and 24hr kitten surveillance. BOOM🔥
Just a friendly reminder that everyone already knows that someone could try the window next. The point of this is to give you a 30 second warning to get a gun ready, and call 911 if you have time.
@@sj0nnie Yes, I’m an American and I have a gun. I also have a reinforced front door that would hopefully make someone give up before said gun becomes necessary.
@@sj0nnie not a negative thing at all, think about what would happen to you in this situation in your oppressed country. You wouldn’t have a gun, no way to defend yourself.
I appreciate this video a lot. Thank you so much!
Fist thing I bought when I got my new house was a full jam and new window cranks that only crank one way with a safety trigger for fires.
This is so true, I was locked out of my house in middle school, no one was home and I wanted to get inside of course. Me being maybe 13 at the time; was able to open the door by ramming my shoulder into it ! We need better security 😂😂😂 this gadget looks cheap and effective 👍🏻
In Sweden all external doors open outward so that they “can’t” be kicked in no matter the price range
Is there a practical reason why they do that or is that just how they do things?
@@thatman8710 to avoid getting snowed in during winter I would imagine. Perhaps for wild life as well. Another great benefit is that it does not take up space indoors.
@@pontuslandin6883 how is that going to help avoid getting snowed in? Having a door that opens outwards would be more difficult to open if snow piles up against it.

Neighbours: why is he trying to bust down his own door?
Wouldn't be surprised if there's videos of it on here by the neighbors like "my neighbor goes crazy! He's kicking down his own door?!?"
good tip about that reinforcement lock.
I'll be adding these to new/existing doors.
I alwsys install hd lock plates screwed into the studs, along with screws thru the hinges into the studs.
stop falling for doos with big glass windows or sidelites. easy to shatter and just open up your locks !
One great, albeit industrial looking solution is to use three 2×4s equally spaced across the back of the door and a locked metal security/storm door in front. The metal storm door should have spikes to absorb/deter kicks and other impacts. Had an angry manic depressive ex kick down a door with that fortress jamb featured in this video installed! 1. the jamb was about 2/3 up from the bottom of the door instead of halfway. 2. While installing the jamb I told her that it could be defeated by kicks to the MIDDLE causing the door to flex along a mid-longitudinal axis and pop the dead bolt, not knowing one day she would kick it down herself. 😅 Lesson be careful what you teach certain people!
Install doors that open outwards, you cant kick them in.
Maruz i completely agree with you. Another benefit would be that in case of fire people can escape easily
How would you get out then if snow was packed against your door 2 ft high? 😄
Lisa Guerrero would bust down that door in seconds
Guest 455518 I’m in America and I’m shocked because where I’m from all our doors r steel doors and then window have metal bars on the outside and not even bullets go through my front door😂😂
Suralus no but I used to in the Middle East and it was really dangerous
Nice job! Thank you guys for this
Another tip: If you have glass panes on your front door, be sure to have a double deadbolt lock. You lock it from the inside with a key. No one can break the glass, then reach in to unlock your door with a twist knob.. Be sure to keep the key nearby for an emergency exit in case of fire. 🔥
Great fortress door now the burglar will just break a window
spellenboy bullet proof glass is expensive and heavy. Unless if you got thick walls and money, not happening.
Thank you for this information
Getting this done immediately
This reminds me of when Popular Science or Popular Mechanics tried to design a theft proof vacation house in the late 70's. They spent a lot of their effort making the door and door frame extremely strong. The thief went in through the windows.
You that’s true, but going though the window is not as easy as you think.
That's why they recommend planting hedges of thorny plants like roses under the windows. Won't stop a determined burglar, but will probably make you a way less attractive target than the house next door.
Thank you!
First thing I did on my house, was add that strike plate with 3 inch screws. You'd have to kick the studs out of the wall to open the door.
Strike plate was like 8 bucks, peace of mind is priceless.

Homeowner : nobody’s coming through that door.
Burglar : Alright , guess I’ll come through the window then.
Thank You 😊!
The first thing I do in any new house is replace all the door screws (including a few in each hinge) with 3.5" framing screws. This includes the door into the house from the garage. So few people know that a really common way for Intruders to get in is to break into your car and use the garage door opener.
That is ridiculously strong. Good job!
He isn't even kicking it! Did you see that "bodyslam"? 😂

Awesome tips!
I run and operate Washington door service. All you need is to run 3” screws into the edge of the jamb all the way up and down the strike and hinge side. The trim and caulking will cover and holes. The security strike plate is a nice addition though but won’t stop anyone with just that.
Much easier than you think to kick in a door. I've been trying to tell people this for years. Some listen, most don't. Definitely need to fortify your doors. Thanks!

In Peru is a "rule" using metal door for the entrance. It is way more safe than wood.
When the family I work with and I went to the Ozarks, they had a security part on the top part of the door of their cabin because one of their kids always wanted to go to the pool (luckily no burglars invaded the condo!) and we always keep the door security tips in mind because of that kid. NOT KIDDING
There is something extremely therapeutic about watching videos about security doors, windows, and things that frustrate thieves.

You know whats funny the fire Department came to my house two days ago cause of a gas leak in my pipes and they kick down the door just like in the video
My neighbor reinforced his front door so much. When his home was invaded. Thieves actually tore the entire door and frame out of the wall. There is always a weakest link

Yep we have thick metal doors for our front and back. Screwed into sturdy thick wood.

I bought a product called door jamb armor which is thick metal and wraps around the jamb. Used a dozen 4 or 4.5" screws, needed to drill additional holes as it only provides 6. You must use the square drill bit or you'll strip the screws before you can drive them in 2 inches. You have to secure the hinges as well or the door is just strong on 1 side. You also need metal wraps for the knobs.
@@annemarie8483 yeah, it's really easy to quickly climb through broken glass, and the sound won't give me ample notice to have my sights trained on their center mass well before they can do anything. The point isn't to prevent entry, it's to slow down entry. Cute story though sweetheart.
Those cheap kwikset locks make it too east to pick.
Having a 1 sided deadbolt lock from the inside before you sleep is crucial.
Also, advanced locks on your windows.
And a anti open bar for windows.
In case someone is good at slipping window locks or leaves your windows unlocked before you sleep.
The metal or wood bar would prevent window ls from opening enough.
I was assigned to a SEAL Team as a builder support guy. One of the tasks was to build doors for a breacher team to practice on. Obviously, theyre bringing the "A" game but I would build them to spec. They have longer strike plates than that and hinge security plates as well. But there is a limit. Id always build at least 1 strongest door, they knew it and they would blast the hinges off, blow the lock set with a charge and be right behind it.
If a SEAL team shows up at your front door, you've got bigger things to worry about.
Oh yes but what if I'm to put the breaching charge on my side of the door to set off when they kick it.
@@tagofox4603 You need to post a warning sign that "All forced entries will be met with equal and opposite force". Then it's game on!
Why so easy to kick in? Despite the low crime rate, here in Hong Kong most houses have a metal gate in addition to a hard wooden door bolted to a steel frame embedded into concrete wall. Burglary by forcing into homes is very rare.
I use 3inch screws I make plate cover the door hinge area and striker plate on the framing.
Where i'm from (Norway) all doors open outwards for fire safety reasons, and that also makes it harder to kick inn the door.
"Nobody is going to rob me now"

The very best way to secure any door is to install a gate rod at the bottom of the door drilled directly into the concrete slab or foundation, the thicker the rod the better. Believe me it works great 👍
Yess this is what I’ve been telling people it’s the instigation that has to be made secure also
I like that he kicks the door but the nails don't fail the wood does.
So now all the robbers gonna be kicking the top of the door-

Burglar: Shrugs and smashes the window to climb in
I am a lifetime carpenter and I have done that type of installation for my entire career and that is why you should hire a professional to do the job also another thing I always found when people install the door knob they do it wrong the little half moon on the bolt is called the bolt lock it should not enter the hole in the jamb it needs to be against the strike plate so the bolt will not be able to be opened with a credit card
On the inside before you put the drywall up put some 2x4’s horizontally between the vertical studs so the 2x4’s can’t flex. Sometimes with a big enough pry bar the vertical 2x4’s will flex because the only thing holding them in place is at the top plate and the bottom plate. By doing this kind of ties it all together and makes it solid.
See now I would think that the more BOUNCE the better to a point. You can see what I'm talking about in this video.
It looks as if when he kicks the door that BOUNCE from not being a very RIDGID structure, it keeps from absorbing much of the energy of the blow to the door ? No ?
I always taught American doors, houses were week after i had seen videos of how they were built/installed. You can improve it a little. Over here door post is made of thick pieces of wood and sits inside the masonary wall. The latch/bolt goes right through the post and a bit into the wall. No amount of kicking is going to break it.
“ . . . Should we tell him that he can stop?”
“Nah.”
