Now we have the #mercedes #amg back from the bodyshop its time to tackle all of the finishing touches that are stopping me from being able to drive this car legally on the road. All very fiddly details but will make the difference between the car looking complete in the flesh and also lasting the test of time.

Chris, by doing this Merc with a Temu kit you have hit the nail right on the head! Most people cant afford the custom stuff from the top makers, By doing this you have showed that 'Mr Average' can do it too. Well done mate
yes, and it makes an economical, sensible way to repair a car like this
eastern europe and asian car tuners have been doing this stuff for a while. as shipping from china is much cheaper for them. here in usa when rebuilding a salvage it makes the most sense to get used OEM parts vs waiting weeks and paying high shipping for chinese parts. but i love the conversions that alibaba body kits can do. dudes turn their older model mercs and bmws to look like newer models. even changing the interior sometimes. theres a channel autobahn thailand on youtube that converted a g20 3 series into a yellow g80 M3 and did it spot on

3rd brake light in the spoiler also houses reverse/backup lights. Could be worth checking out (if there’s another wire apart from the brake light one).
yeah, unless the center light is reverse, its not functioning as it should.

When you think the Mercedes body kit was from memory £150K the Temu kit was exceptionally good value, it does look great, well done !!! Most aftermarket kits need some work to make fit, really enjoy this rebuild, as a Mercedes driver, and this is a car I would love for that engine alone, twin turbo V8 😍

The car is already low enough. No need to be lowered. And the exhaust is loud enough already and sounds good

To remove permanent marker from white board...
Hand sanitizer and paper towels... blue lint free shop towels are expensive to use for this, but will work best as well.
The alcohol in the hand sanitizer removes the sharpie's alcohol based ink easily.

The sharpie on the white board is wild 18:40
16:52 to remove the sharpie from the white board you have to over write with the sharpie later and wipe off straight away. The new ink will dissolve the old one.
@frankyy99 I was about to comment this too 👍 or even some of the alcohol hand wash would do the trick
Magic eraser cleaner sponge works best for the white board
Great content Chris, which is what these youtube channels are about. Ignore the negative remarks, most of them I'm sure would swap places with you in a heartbeat but dont have the character to put the hard work in.
For the number plate I believe the bumper was made for one of those sticker number plate things so you can stick it either under the headlight if the is any space ofcourse or on the splitter
I think the spilter is the best place tbh

Or just don’t run it and take the tickets. Not sure how it works in euro land but in the US some don’t run front plates and never had issues.
@@ginco_bnz my local newspaper reported there was a Ferrari impounded not so long ago for having no front number plate… I believe you can also get up to a £1000 fine and 3 points on your licence, but points are bad, because after 12 points you lose your licence for like at least a year or more, which means no driving any cars, besides, insurance in the UK goes off no claims or penalty points, where my ford focus is like £400 a year to insure, with 3 points it would probably be £1000 a year to insure, even more with more points, then with a historic ban from driving maybe £3000 a year to insure… I have zero points and like 15 years no claims, you never want to lose any of that shit lol
@@ginco_bnz thats not how it works in Europe sadly, most countries you will get a fine and the second time they will impound it. You NEED 2 plates there are no exemptions

Buy the plate direct from DVLA. That other place will charge you £80 assignment and then vat on top making it more expensive.

Wing Bolts - Go to a company called Pro-Bolt and you could fit titanium or yellow/gold anodised bolts and washers… nice finishing touch Chris.

I remember back in the day you would want a small level of orange peel on cosworths when repainting as they had this from factory.

Congratulations, from what you had, to what you’ve achieved is absolutely amazing. You’ve got yourself a gorgeous car, which are still a lovely looking beast.
My personal thoughts:
- the wheels are not okay, silver doesn’t go with night blue and carbon
- the steering wheels looks bad, you should have retrofitted the newer one
- the front lights are meh, I think the newer one would have looked better
And it’s too high 😂
Silver rims look very nice, especially with a brushed finish

After watching the number plate placement puzzle, I couldn't help but look up Shmee's AMG GTR to see where he stuck it. looks like it's a curved plate just below the massive Merc badge.
Deffo need coilovers way too high in rear could do with 2 inch drop rear and could do with 1 inch drop front but other than that amazing build love your content keep uo the hard work

Nice work as usual. A quick hack for shiny bolts is, (depending on the material) if you want them darker/blued is to hit them with some heat, and then quick dip into some old oil. Is a temp fix as some cheaper ones, will rust quicker.
love these videos! two things I'd have done. Get the Blk Edition fender wells and cut the hole out for the vent. Use 3M tape for rear badge.
Mercedes usally mounts the front plate right under the big mercedes badge on the grill and it doesn't look too bad, also if I were you I'd swap out the headlights for the actual black series ones to make it look just more realistic.
Other than that, props to you mate, it's amazing, true "budget" dream car 👏🏻

I use Manual and have done for 8 months and it has been better than I expected. I wasn't losing hair but certainly lost some thickness over the years, which has all but recovered now. ALways do your research though.
It looks stunning! I have had a normal GT and now I have a GTR. I, as an amateur driver, don`t feel the big difference when driving. Most of the car is the same. So you have got yourself a nice piece of kit 🙂 ( If you want you can tune the engine to endless horsepower and beat every stock GTR on the road)
I was never a fan of black wheels. So I bought grey/ silver wheels to the GTR. It lost about 50 % aggressiveness by doing that, and I have changed my mind regarding black wheels - they look awesome on a GT. So a new set of wheels will make your car complete, I think!
