As a new rider I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. I'm a natural at scrubbing though, I only get a foot off the ground no matter what I do. lol.
I went out to some jumps near my house and tried this. it worked the first couple of times and then I tried whipping... I now have 4 stitches in my leg but I'm ready to try again when I heal. thanks for the awesome video. 💥🤕👍👍
got into the habit of going down with the nose too hard, landed too deep and nose heavy and got my ribcache completely shattered as my bike launched me into some massive root when i went over the bars. Whish i had that advice back in the day ^^
Never tested doing scrubbing like that.. Well on a pumptrack it comes automatically but on jumps I always do moto scrubs... :) Gotta try it this way :)
Thank you Mark this was very helpful! Do you have any more tips on how to work on the timing of boosting? Especially on big jumps this can be pretty scary to practice.
Slowly work your way up to bigger stuff. Stay relaxed yet aggressive on the lip the entire time. Longer lips require slower movements. Good luck dude and I'm stoked this is helpful for you!
So to lernig in thes session tactics in thes laps in jumpstracks. For #how to toms new scrubs a boost in the #dirtjumping #mountainbiking . Thanks guy. Marck Matthew. 🗣️yyaaSicke. Saluds of Chile 🇨🇱
When boosting do you go any faster or slower up to the jump? Every time I try and boost I either over jump or nearly case. I can do the jumps perfect every time if I don’t boost.
@@MarkMatthewsMTB it’s just weird to get my head around! Because usually if you know you’re going too slow at the last second for an unfamiliar jump, you pull up! But I guess it’s to make distance not height. If you can’t tell my mind goes around in circles with this haha
@@brokenlegz when I boost dirt jumps I’m actually pulling almost backwards and up. This makes all your speed go into increasing your height/making more air time and not going towards going forwards. when you pull up to clear a jump when you are going to slow you’re generally pulling and pushing further forward, not necessarily pulling up if that makes sense.
Watching this… now I’m ready to hit 😁 I’ll let you know how I’m progressing soon afterwards, it’s either gonna be some footage of me adding an extra length to my boost or… hugging a tree at best 😂😅 let’s go!
I'm going to buy a dirt jump bike, but there's problem. Those are sold out :(. Waiting for next year and watching your videos. This comment is for range ;)
@@MarkMatthewsMTB I’ve made big progress recently, what helped me was was aiming the handlebars into the hips. The boost is coming along not quite what I wanted to be but at least I can work on it again
What I struggle with is after popping and getting high in the air I over shoot the landing. How can I keep that from happening. Am I relinging to much on speed?
I usually go faster to boost so I don't case so maybe you aren't popping enough? Preload and pull up harder, get your self in a tucked position that will make it impossible to not swing your weight forward and nose in.
It doesn’t make much sense at first but when I boost I go faster and just pull back/up to make that momentum going up instead of forward. So yeah I think your issue is not boosting quite high enough.

Let's gooo first you should come check out some trails in mn
I have a Marin hawk hill and I was wondering if you are able to over stroke the rear shock on it with a 55 MM stroke
no clue you'd have to ask Marin on that

@@MarkMatthewsMTB thanks for the response, this helps me out a lot! By the way love your riding style ;)
Nice vid
Dude, Can you do a video like this on enduro bikes vs ebikes. Can you boost jump them the same?
Yes, just the e bike is heavier and more work. Thanks for the video idea!

Gracias man!!
how the popping force is applied? toward the horizon or the jumping surface?
On the compression of the ramp

I go faster for sure! Go fast, pull up!

look for pinkbike deals! lol Thanks man.
I’m struggling with some big jumps, I feel like I lean forward to much. Guess it doesn’t happen over night tho. How long have you bin riding for?
Takes time for sure, I’ve been riding for 20 years

Thanks
Yaya nice g
Btw I’m still waiting for the how to tablewhip vid👍 loving your vids atm man keep it up
So to scrub are you pushing down with your feet as well or just your arms ?
What I struggle with is after popping and getting high in the air I over shoot the landing. How can I keep that from happening. Am I relinging to much on speed?
You are probably relying too much on speed
I think you're spot on

TLDR; The angle of your torso dictates the height of your jump.
