Love you guyss 😗✌️
There is a series that is a MUST watch for you two. I will guarantee 100% you`ll be riveted. It`s got everything and like GoT the writers do not care who dies. It`s a Canal+ show of War of the Worlds. It`s unlike any other WotW. It`s the 2019 version starring Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern. Upto now there are 3 series (24 episodes)
16:44 Sarah scene happens 2-3 days after Indonesia scene (09.24 and 09.26.2003)
Gonna say Bella Ramsey (Ellie) is very good at playing an American. I've always wondered why us British (English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish) end up playing better Americans than Americans playing British.
That mushroom expert in the beginning needs some sort of award. Her shift from stoic professional to crying grandma was heartbreaking, and masterful.
Settle down...this show is good but SO overrated...
@@MisterDevos I don't know what they're saying about the show but.... Yeah, that's a little over-stated for that performance. Not like she didn't do well or anything, but acting like it's an Oscar worthy performance that's so transcendent and morally gut-wrenching is more dramatic than she was. :|
@@oduinn7948 Yep. It is Oscar worthy : ) A lot of people agree.
@@MisterDevos And?
No its not overrated. Its a amazing show.
I love the additions of backstory in this show. When the professor in Indonesia realized that the fungus is already out there spreading, she knew it was over for the city, the country and maybe the world. Her hands starts shaking and she quickly puts down her tea. She said they had to bomb this city and everyone that lives here, because that might be the only way to stop the spread.
It was one of my favorite moments of the episode!
the professor is played by christine hakim, shes a legend in indonesian cinema
@@EchaAnggara Cool!, Thanks for the info.
And at the same time it shows the importance of Ellie
And on addition she was ready to die with her family in her home as the bombing she just suggested happened.
so I think it’s safe to say the outbreak started and spread so fast bc of contaminated flour! the factory in Indonesia where the infected worked at was one of the largest flour factories in the world and in the first episode Sarah can’t make pancakes bc there is no flour, the old woman eats biscuits that Joel and Sarah politely turned down, Sarah doesn’t eat the oatmeal cookies bc they have raisins, Joel forgets to pick up a cake. They unknowingly dodged flour numerous times but it also shows how hard it would be to avoid flour- we use and eat it so much. Terrifying 😭
Shouldn't the fungus died if they cooked the flour? Or maybe they just inhaled or ate raw flour whey they about to cooked/baked/ them.
damn didn't even notice this detail... good head on your shoulder for picking all this up. Though I would also kinda agree with Sad Dany (the other commenter) that the fungus would've died when cooked...
Interesting observation!!
@@saddany3254 not when they have adapted to being in hotter temperatures…
@@cvers99 But I thought they just adopted to slightly higher temps - not hundreds of degrees hotter. Right? Because there's a certain threshold of heat at which no living things can survive - your oven is definitely in that range. Like, even viruses die if you cook them.
I'm so glad that they had the characters in the opening scene speak their native language. It just would not have hit the same if they were speaking English with Indonesian accents.
I like when a TV show or movie trusts that it's viewers can actually read subtitles.
Yeah that was a big surprise.... But the right idea in my opinion too!!!!
It's about time USA learn to love subtitles 😁
@@zitronentee That's not a US thing lol, that's a personal preference thing. I love subtitles since it makes sure I don't miss anything, my sister dislikes them because it breaks immersion for her.
Fun Fact: The opening scene in Indonesia takes place on September 24th, 2003 two days before the premiere episode's events. In that first episode a short radio segment mentions "disturbances" in Jakarta.
Much like the opening scene of the first episode. This episode also opens with more background of the Cordyceps virus. Showing its initial outbreak in Indonesia.
Also, I'm so glad non-gamers get to experience this amazing story.
They also showed some posters about the SARS virus that was the epidemic in Asia at the moment, (a bit of a prequel to Covid), and the fact that she was so quick to go straight to the bombing suggestion with that in the world, really shows the gravity of the situation. Love it
It's absolutely wild to think that it took two days for this fungal infection to go global. I'm guessing they ended up not bombing Jakarta, since the radio didn't say anything about it. Although at this point, I wonder if even that would have worked. Also, I saw a TikTok speculating that the origin of the fungal infection was from wheat, and the first known victims worked in a flour factory, so that seems plausible. It would also explain how the infection spread so quickly, if infected flour was shipped worldwide.
@kareningram6093 i think the flour theory is now confirmed. Even 1st episode makes sense now. The pancake mix, the neighbours and the biscuits. Them making cookies. Ellie and joel avoided eating all of those things
non-gamer here! I didn't even know what the story was about lol. Loving it so far!
Bro it's mentioned multiple times that it's a fungus not a virus
The Cordyceps fungus being like a neural network is also an actual thing. Which is incredibly scary.
A fungal expert has confirmed that Cordyceps did indeed make the evolutionary jump from plants to animals as it currently only infects insects, he also confirmed that it could (theoretically) make the jump into mammals, however he said this would likely take a million years or so for the genetic mutation to take hold in a warm body, so we're ok, but the science is sound. 😱
Similar to that deer disease, they're literally zombies.
It's like how myceliem connects a an entire forest...I know I spelled that wrong haha
Joel being forced to fire a gun and then it becomes a cascade of screw-ups is definitely true to my gameplay. Fantastic that they replicated that experience here. Hahaha
When you want to stealth your way through but you fuck it up... Yes sounds familiar 🤣
Definitely lol
Lol same yo. Except I would’ve died a zillion times.
Indonesian does sound very soothing. I speak it myself having lived in Indonesia for 11 years. People here would be really proud to hear you talk about their language this way. Such a great country with awesome people.
Wah, Bang Joe ada di sini
Anjirr ada disini juga loe Bang
Hai, Bang Joe.
" People here would be really proud to hear you talk about their language this way." yeah but more like overproud 🤣
@@Zood94 No that's not overproud. Haha, it's OK to be proud. Even in America we get proud when someone mentions our hometown in a movie.
Watch the way Joel looks at his watch every time he shares a moment with Ellie. Brilliant writing and brilliant acting!
amazing!
When the doctor said “bomb the city” that shit just scared the fuck out of me. She knew there was nothing anyone could do. What a way to start the show. Episode 2, another 10!!!!!!!
I got chills up my spine, I don’t think I have ever seen a performance of that caliber of a character talking about something so dire in such a; powerful, straightforward tone or demeanor. And I have seen a lot of films about infection. She and the military person were excellent together.
Such a great damn metaphorical shot at 10:56! Ellie is the literal light in the darkness of this world and Tess is believing in that, while Joel is so pessimistic to the idea and still in the darkness of the world he lives in. So good!!
Ooooohh i love that
Nice. This is why I go to comments. Gotta wade through the darkness of trolls to find the light of wisdom.
Almost as if they're lost in the darkness and looking for the light?
And then comes Part 2…
@@Overlord0011And guess what? Ellie is like a gift from the Fireflies
The opening is a callback to the first episode when you can hear the news on the radio about Jakarta and Joel asking if it's in the Middle East. The Jakarta incident takes place on September 24, 2003; 2 days before episode 1.
Yep and shows just how quickly it spread to the rest of the world through the world distribution of the flour. It was already in Texas being sold, bought and eaten before they realised the fungus had already mutated to humans. There was never a chance of stopping it.
The only downside to the show is you have to wait a whole week for the next episode 😫. All seriousness it's actually so good omg I can't wait for the rest.
Just like how TV was growing up it sucks lol
more and good like that bro because it makes me want to see it at least in my opinion. leave a feeling of wanting more, give time to theorize, fanficate.
That's old-school. Streaming made it too easy
I usually not watch and wait until its time for season 2. That way i can binge watch season 1. This is what I usually do lol but with the first episode, there was no way im going to wait unless i find another show to watch.
@@nonagon9192 no. that's necessary. its peak television.
Man did that episode feel short when it wasn’t short. That’s very good directing. I’m still in awe of the production quality it’s amazing. The Clickers and Runners so far look really good.
Yup, the episode just flew by!
The show really captured how hard it is to kill a clicker .
I don't even want to think about the bloaters
@@D.m0niowhat about the Rat King, I really hope now that season 2 is confirmed they keep that in it would be so good!
@@danjc9783 that will probably be CGI but still excited to see it.
As Indonesian I'm really proud to see mrs Christine Hakim. She is amazing actress and she perform really well. Especially when she said that no vaccine and just bomb. Man.. I'm like goosebump saw her to said that.
No spoilers, but I want to give a shout out to my brother who worked on this show and was key in finding some of those practical sets y'all appreciate. Super proud of him and glad y'all notice :)
Ah that's awesome!!!
*2 DAYS* was the time difference between the Indonesia scene and the first scenes with Joel, Sarah and Tommy. Crazy to show how quick it spread
Note that it's in Jakarta in Java island, the most populated island in the world. At that time, the city had Indonesia's main international airport. So, consider that there were asymptomatic carrier who travelled to US without any idea.
It's the same way covid-19 came to Indonesia: through seaport and airport.
I love how you can see the fear in Joel and Tess's face when Ellie spoke to loud
RIP Tess, she was a boss, and will be missed.
Yes RIP, but on another note, wow! How disconnected Joel is to the her demise. Didn't kiss her goodbye (not that he should have), no hug and only a short moment of thought as he watches the building go up in flame. He's like, "moving right along here"
@@jeffhelton3364 Bro why would he, when she got biten 😼

@@-SKRV true
This opening episode explained how the Fungus was spread, it was in wheat that's why Episode 1 had a massive focus on food, the granny in episode 1 was infected because of the biscuits she was being fed, all the wheat internationally was infected with cordyceps. Flour and the crop mill in Jakarta.
That's why there was a big focus on food in the first episode, especially with how the main characters avoided it.
Sarah didn't eat the cookies, Joel didn't took the biscuits, and forgot the cake, Tommy never got those pancakes
I mean, from what I remember, Sarah did eat pancakes in the morning, but I guess she didn't live long enough for us to know if she got infected too or not
@@superik408 i don’t think she had pancakes. she asks joel if they have any and he says no. then they’re shown eating eggs, with joel saying there’s shells in his. then sarah is shown with eggs in her mouth
As a non-gamer, this series in a way reminds me of Craig Mazin’s other series Chernobyl. He understands the scope of tragedy and destruction and the importance of showing those little details that truly add so much to the believability of the story. And here it is no different. From the powerful introduction once again that shook me to my core to the encounters with those fungi creatures to the fantastic production design and makeup to that heartbreaking and traumatic and terrifying final act. This series is so honest and terrifying in its portrayal of a world that has lost its humanity but we’re invested ‘cause we have faith in Ellie and now it seems like (theoretically) having her paired with Joel might help him heal in some way. Such a great series so far.
And it does it all in a way that's so incredibly faithful to the video game
wow so the producer of Chernobyl made this? no wonder it's so incredible in every aspect, story telling, visuals, sound you name it.. and oh.. no unnecessary pg 18 stuff to capture attention. Shows that the showrunner has confidence in his abilities to make the show great without relying upon such cheap tactics.
Oh shit, no wonder it's so edge-of-your-seat suspenseful -- because of the Chernobyl (2019) producer, which, was an amazing limited series in its own right.
One thing that I love is that they went into how flour was the conduit for the fungus. First episode, showed the elderly lady eating biscuits, showed Joel and Sarah not having pancakes. The small details that I loved about the game that is in the show.
Plus the clickers were awesome. Those are practical effects. They also got the original actors that voiced the clickers in the game for the show. I don't know if they were also the ones in makeup though. But dang, this episode was phenomenal. Can't wait for the next!
No raisin cookies and no birthday cake either.
Exactly, the flour, corn premise is so realistic because those corn silos and corn itself are so susceptible to fungus growth.
Apparently they hired real fans of the game to play the clickers.
@@SolidSnake240 -- Awesome.
@@SolidSnake240 which is a hugely smart idea considering they would know better than most how the infected move and the best way to portay it
I loved Anna Torv's depiction of Tess. She was just as ruthless and tough as she is in the game but theres this vulnerability there that peaks out once in a while. The part that loves Joel. She only gets noticed and bitten because she is so scared for Joel. That moment where she runs into the flagpole because shes staring at Joel being attacked, so terrified for him. It was a nice addition to the character that made her loss more felt.
As someone who lives in Jakarta and a fan of the original game, this series has been something special. The origin story of the outbreak is a great addition so people who played the game can get something new from the series. Also, I never knew the flour mill in my city is the biggest in the world, I just know and seen that it’s massive 😂 (NB: the flour mill is actually in north Jakarta, not west as the episode states)
i love how the show does it own things like change the way the virus works and tess's death scene while still including some moments from the game and the sound track
Fungus :)
@@XenoXader18 Ascomycetes 💀
If people are wondering, (game spoiler ahead):
The premise is generally the same with Tess buying them time, but in the game Tess gets shot by FEDRA who show up at the capitol building instead of the infected.
@@Dark__ThoughtsIt makes sense though, how would FEDRA know that the capitol was a Firefly base? How did the shootout begin and why were there no FEDRAs inside AND/OR outside the capitol securing it?
Tendrils being the way people are infected is a great change. The tendril network makes this universe really damn terrifying; as if it wasn't terrifying enough in the game. I wasn't the biggest fan of spore infection in the game so for me it's a welcome change.
Those prosthetic are awesome! They’re the same voice actors from the game reprising their roles as clickers for the show! I wonder how the actors felt when they were hearing those clicker noises!!!!
so cool... they nailed it
The show was filmed in my city, Calgary, and yeah a lot of the objects in the foreground are real. It was cool seeing them fill an overpass with destroyed cars or a random block downtown becoming post-apocalyptic for a day or two.
Very cool, they definitely didn't skimp on budget, it's reported each episode was about 10 million to do.
Will never eat bean sprouts again
Try enoki instead
Oh my god true
i nearly spit out my drink and then i realized i didn't have any drink to spit out
Or chicken of the woods..
I absolutely love that even though they are making changes in this adaptation, they have still been hitting all the major points and keeping the overarching story the same. Fantastic job!!
Thus far, all the changes are great changes imo.
@@chaost4544I agree!! I feel like Tess and her death felt more heart breaking than the game because of the way she went out while almost being turned. I like it better than just being shot up like the game.
The craziest detail I noticed was that the actors never ate anything with flour in the first episode. It spread through the flower from the flower mill in Indonesia. (No pancake mix, didn't eat cookies because they were raisin, no biscuits because of the atkins diet, etc) The doctor mentioned it was the perfect substrate in this episode!
This scene is even more horrifying when you learn that Jakarta had roughly 8 1/2 million people living there in 2003 😱
Hopefully we get more intros like ep 1 & 2😮💨 those are probably my favorite parts of this series
See, these new intros for the episodes, that delve into the background of the infection? Fucking wild, and the most horrific parts of each episode.
Agreed!! It really gives the world a more realistic and lived in feel. I'm hopeful that each episode will have one. I'd love to see reactions from world leaders, for example, or the various military's around the world. Maybe even something relating to FEDRA and their initial response, as well as what led them to becoming what they are now. Same with the Fireflies...something about their origins would be really cool to see.
@@arklytte Not just that, but it gives more understanding of dread to the audience for how absolutely fucked the world was, how quickly everything went down.
Tess and Joel were in a long term relationship and they had to say goodbye to each other without kissing, hugging or even touching each other while being steps apart......... devastating
There's just so much I love about this episode
1) how once again the opening sequence that just adds extra flavor just oozes disbelief and a sheer combination of terror and dread.
2) The build, payoff and the costume/visuals with the clickers. I honestly wouldn't be surprise if someone did a re-edit of the clicker scenes from this episode with zero ambient music because the moment everything became quiet it instantly became something out of your worse nightmare.
LOL when Steven is talking about how awesome it is we are essentially getting an origin story of how it all started, Nikkis face lolol she was just horrified at what she just saw and heard
So, actually Joel, Tommy and Sarah were lucky not to have eaten pancakes, biscuits or birthday cake in the first episode.
A small number of people already have seen more episodes, and they say, that episode 3 is a very good episode!
We will see next week!

@@ryans413 They wanted it to end with Joel meeting Ellie at least from what they said in the podcast.
Usually, the last episode of the season is the longest, but seems like that's not the case
Damn, the finale is only 43 mins?! The pilot was like 2 finales long
I knew she was bit when her mood changed. For her to get so irate like that i knew right off the bat. Because in the beginning of the first episode, I remember when they were explaining the symptoms and thats how I caught it.

And Steve, can I compliment you on how exceptional your editing has been lately.
The scene selection and timing are so well-balanced between the show and your reactions, it's been great to see you constantly outdo yourself, mate.
Go 🦅🦅🦅😉
The after the episode shows Neil talking about when he saw the final version of the clickers he cried b/c he was his visualisation brought to life. I think that just exemplifies the love and dedication brought to this series. They could have just cgj hd copied and pasted the clickers from the games but they put the effort into making them real.
I was worried about how the settings would look, and so far they’ve blown me away… also belle ramsey is really growing on me as Ellie, she’s killing it!
@@Andrewf5251guessing ur one of those weird grown men who wanted her to be an attractive child for whatever weird reason 🤔

Subtly tying in Ellie's love for and knowledge of space ✨
Also, soon after that moment, we can see a giraffe plushie on the ground, by a car. We can see similar giraffe plushies throughout the games.
Does anyone know what's up witht these giraffe plushies?
@@kaen4299 the games have a bit of a motif with giraffes. They appear as plushies, an image on a poster, a child's photo frame (has a printed giraffe on the frame). We see a little girl in the QZ holding onto and playing with a giraffe plushie.
It just represents innocence that has been lost.
Just since you mentioned the SPORES. The writers have commented that the 'spores' aspect of the game will not be in the show, because people would have to be in gas masks constantly, and because it doesn't really make sense because with spores literally everyone would be infected. To make up for that not being there, they added the 'mouth tendrils' thing.
my god, this show is SO good, i've had hairs on my arms standing on end for the whole episodes, the tension the viewer is made to feel is unreal!
Love how Ellie delivers the line about not shitting her pants. The inflection in her voice and perhaps a hint of her accent, it just hits a perfect note

I was watching all the scene in complete silence, listening those clickers and horrifying sounds. The acting so far is outstanding and all the shoots are perfect
They really added to the backstory while keeping the main elements in the story. Well done for sure! RIP Tess
The look of the show is amazing. Episode one gave an incredible setup to the story, but this gave me what I was waiting for. The creatures look so accurate to the game.
The sounds the super infected as they call them in the show were spot on it felt just as terrifying as when you first encounter them in game
As someone whi has never played the game so far this seems like an amazing show. Nothing to complain about so far. The design and the movement of the superinfected was just perfect horror. The one person who did that long shot walking behind the glass did a perfect performance
They really changed and improvised the ending of this episode. That kiss scene really really made me HUGE JAW DROPP!
13:46 Five Gold stars for the set designers top tier job. 21:42 Ten GOLD stars for the make-up team. Ten Gold Stars for the actors as the Clickers. Soooo scary. Perfect Jump Scare. 28:34 Tess is a Superstar in this moment. 😢
There are so many interesting small details in this show, like the fact they said the infection spread initially through flour and Joel, Sarah and Tommy didn't eat anything with flour so that's how they avoided infection. They refused the neighbors cookies too, but grandma was being fed biscuits in the beginning, that's how she got infected. I think it's also why Ellie doesn't care about eating sandwiches but we don't see anyone else eating bread or flour based food.
Ayo 🤯🤯🤯
No, the Fireflys made the sandwich for Ellie, which means they were eating bread as well. If flour was still an issue, nobody would be making bread!
@@igloo2158 Are you deaf? This ep the workers handling FLOUR got sick. It said that. Pay attention next time.
You can make bread out of more things than wheat flour. You can grow WAY more potatoes per acre than wheat, for example, and potatoes make wonderful bread. Anything with high starch content will do, really.
All that said, I highly doubt that tainted wheat is still a problem 20 years later. They either grow/process it in a way that's safe (ie; with LOTS of applications of anti-fungals), or they just dont bother, since, like I said, there are alternatives, quite a few of which are much less susceptible to fungal contamination. The aforementioned potatoes being one of them.
Wheat, btw, is MASSIVELY susceptible to fungal contamination. I worked on a large wheat farm when I was in college, to help pay the bills, and fighting off various fungi was a constant battle.
@@igloo2158 They were quite specific that it was tainted flour that made people sick. And they made several specific references in the first episode about none of the three (Joel, Tommy, and Sarah) not eating anything flour based. They didn't have pancake mix, Joel made the (presumed) joke about being on Atkins so he didn't have to eat the biscuits, Sarah didn't eat the cookies because they were raisin.
Some real world background. Jakarta has the largest flour mill on the planet. They import grain from literally all over the world, process it, and then ship it back out, all over the world. In the game, the source was 'tainted grain from South America', so the presumption at this point is that the tainted grain was sent to Jakarta, processed into flour, then sent out to the rest of the world. The workers at the factory just got infected first, because they were working around it all day.
The actress in the opening is Christine Hakim. Shes a veteran actress from Indonesia. She serves incredible performance here
I’ve never played the game but I watched and LOVED the Chernobyl series. This is the filmed by the same dude who did that series and it shows. The lighting and attention to details making this seem so real. Love it! Y’all should really check out Chernobyl if you haven’t already!
I like how they added the Cordyceps Tinderals being a mass organism instead of the Spores. In real life they wouldn't be localized is certain areas, they would be everywhere. Also that gives the actors a reason not to have to wear gas (spore) masks. The Clickers are amazing.
a whole sequence in INDONESIA, they are getting a sense around fiction, that all came from the flour factory... this is not TLOU, this is TLOU lore, an entireTLOU world... this is beyond perfection... if confirmed that Joel did not get the initial infection because he did not eat the grandma's cookies and cake, THE SHOW DESERVES THE OSCAR AND THE GRAMMY
Its actually kinda unnecessary...
Emmy. Oscars are for features, Grammys are for music. 😉
The new idea they changed from the game to the show where the infected can communicate through their roots...brilliant. kind of wish that could be in the video game as well because it now adds a level of what to kill and 2nd guessing your decisions. Can't kill all the infected cause might send a hoard of them your way its just such a beautiful idea
Look up "tree fungus internet", it's something that is absolutely insane but Idk how much about it we knew when the game was produced, we still understand so little of it... The thing is, in actual honest to god damned real life, there _are_ places where fungi provide trees with a "network" service, informing them of events, transporting nutrients from trees that are well off to trees in need, even freaking giving them samples of viruses infecting trees around them for them to work up immunity like a vaccine... It's _insane._ Giving the cordyceps in the story this tool just makes it even scarier than it already was
I love the cameos from both origin stories so far. First John Hannah as the English scientist in the 60s and now acclaimed Indonesian actress Christine Hakim as that Mycology Professor from Jakarta. Cannot wait for next week’s piece of puzzle!
Craig Mazin addition to the Show's writing is the best thing ever. He did Chernobyl and that was awesome. You can see his "DNA" with the intro exposition "Flashback" of each show.
I just love how they incorporated the explaination of the origin of the infection so well into the first 2 episodes. It wasn't overcomplicated or too much exposition, and set the tone of both the episodes, and the whole show so far, perfectly.
The fact that it is all rooted in actual, real life science too is kinda terrifying and that only adds to the tension.
I can honestly say, this is the first show in a long time that I have been hooked since the first episode. It's genuinely one of the best video game to screen adaptations I have ever seen, and we're only 2 episodes in.
This episode gave me even more shivers and suspense than the first one. I can't believe how well those clickers were done and played, how realistic their appearance and behavior was, jesus.
Man, i hate that we have to wait a week for each episode, especially when a show is this good. In a way i love the series where they release all episodes at once, because the wait is too much to handle lol, whole damn week of stressful conscious waiting to see what happens next.
But damn, if the quality continues like this until the end, it will be the best game adaption ever made, if not overall adaption.
haha you must be a youngster lol. used to netflix and series releasing all at once. i had to wait a whole week for shows when i was younger and yes it sucked but it was worth it. i hated cobra kai being available all at once because i couldn’t help but binge but then it was over abd id have to wait a year for the next season
@@ThePorkchopExpress975 Hardly a youngster at 30, though under different context i might have taken that as a compliment. lol.
But no, i'm used to waiting for a week between episodes, that is nothing new, not to mention 2 or more weeks when the show takes a hiatus.
Doesn't mean i enjoy it that way. I would rather watch all episodes at once, conclude the story for the season and then i can go watch something else. Plenty of shows out there, and films. Dragging out episodes for months doesn't increase excitement, only anxiety.
Sarah scene was in September 2003, and the intro to this episode was 2 days before the outbreak in episode 1 (September 24th, 2003)
As an OG player of the PS3 game, I am okay and sorta happy with the changes done so far because they serve to make the story and also the characters better. Well done HBO writers and directors (and Naughty Dog crew involved). It’s going pretty well so far.
I really like the intro scenes they’ve done in the first 2 episodes
That scene in the museum 😳 I had so much anxiety as a non game player. The feeling in my stomach lasted until the end. I don’t think I have watched many shows that gave me a physical reaction like that!
I’m a non-gamer and this show is soooo amazing 👏👏👏
The clickers are scary as s**t and the noises remind me of the zombies in World War Z. Can’t wait for the next episode!
I already know this shows gonna win multiple enemy’s and awards for beautiful cinematography, acting in a drama series and everything else.
Amazing second episode! Really love that they’re expanding on the lore of the Cordyceps; fundamentally building the world, while also bringing in new layers to the established relationships between the characters. Love what they’re doing so far as it’s so good!
Thanks guys for saying Indonesian language is soothing :) im Indonesian myself.
If you notice in the 1st eps, the scientist on tv also said the same thing with the Indonesian one. And now ellie is their hope.
💜
They nailed this episode and I can’t wait for more
good they not copy paste everthing from game. People who die on game , will die different way, except Henry and Sam
I notice we are getting new content too start off the episodes if this continues throughout the show i wouldn’t mind that. First episode they talked about the possible virus next episode they expanded on that and tied it into the bombings that’s only slightly touched on in the game. So far I’m a happy gamer this show is a love letter too the fans 100%.
@@ASSASSIN19923 dude why you spoil the dead f*CK!
@@ASSASSIN19923 i actually like it that way - it makes the show interesting for both ppl who played the game and who didnt . i played the game and i actually liked how they change some things to make it not fully copy paste :D
The clickers look and sound absolutely amazing. It feels so much like the game. I love all the little detail changes they're making it just feels natural. I can't believe how good of a job they've done visually, and the cast is doing amazing. The origin stories have been great. I'm still wondering if the kid from the 1st episode with the orange shirt in the Nike's that wandered into the QZ was like Ellie. I'm almost wondering if there's been a number of kids like her, but because they come up as being infected by the scanners they get took out. Can't see that little boy making it all the way there unless he was immune. They saw the wound on his knee and just assumed he was bitten and about to change.
Humans evolving and adapting to their new environment. Survival adaptations had to have happened. I'm wondering the same thing about the kid and the possible presence of others like Ellie. (non-gamer here)
@@merrimcarthur7198 Some are already immune but after 20 years I would think many more would be born with natural immunity from immune parents.
@@donaldlyons17 I hadn't thought of it quite like that, but it makes complete sense.
In case someone hasn't already pointed it out, Tess is played by Anna Torv, who played Olivia Dunham in the show Fringe. It's a really good sci-fi show if you guys ever want to check it out!
In the first episode on the TV they mention something happening in Jakarta, and they guess where it is and Sarah tells them. It's where it all started. That scene was the beginning of the end.
Again… this is how you do it! I was concerned on how they were gonna do the Clickers. But it has outdone any expectations. They truly have brought it to life. The changes are making this more real and believable. Every time they show the scenery it’s so epic. You don’t lose the meanings.
Steven: “They’re doing a great job at building the tension.”
Nikki: *nervous affirmation*
So looks like the flour theory is confirmed now. With this all spresding through wheat/flour. Crazy little details from ep 1. They didnt make the pancake mix. Joel turned down the bisuits cuz he was on atkins and ellie didnt eat the cookies cuz of the raisins. Really cool
After watching the recap. You find out that they had fans of the game play the infected cause they understood the movements of them. So that was really amazing. Haven’t played the game just yet. But I can’t wait lol. You guys are awesome
Remember in episode one at the breakfast table Sarah was educating Joel and Tommy and the location that was being spoken about on the radio. She said it was in Indonesia. Same year of 2003. I really enjoy your reaction videos. Keep going💕 Oh yeah I’m waiting on the reaction video for The Equalizer 2!!
16:50 If you remember in the Sarah scene over breakfast they mention Jakarta, so obviously that takes place not long after the Professor "bomb the city" scene in this episode.
What cracks me up is Lady Mormont cussing like a sailor!!🤣🤣🤣
In the games, Joel's birthday was on September 26, 2013. Sarah died on the early morning (after 0215) of the 27th. 20 year time skip and we're in Summer of 2033.
In the show, Joel's birthday was on September 26, 2003. Sarah died on the early morning (after 0215) of the 27th. 20 year time skip and we're in the (probably late) summer of 2023.
I like that Joel was seeing how many bullets he had when they were fighting the clickers. I smiled like yea start rationing them bullets 🤣👏🏽 very well done on bringing that tension with the infected. Loving the show so far.
The guy who made Chernobyl is the showrunner on this too, and you can clearly see that, especially in the first 10 minutes :D its so fantastic
I really enjoy those flashbacks to how everything started. It gives such a eerie feeling to how everything transpired. If this was a real life situation it's totally believeable for people to react in the way they did.
This show has delivered so far! And your reactions are great
This show is amazing! even the way the shoot it and their audio at times looks and sounds like a video game. I love the intros/backstories, it is so griping and devastating
I really love your reactions, u r the first people I search for in term of reactions. Cause your the best at reacting to every important detail and give me a second way to watch the episode
The attention to detail has been immaculate so far. In this episode's intro, we learn the outbreak started at a flour facility. In the 2003-era portion of the first episode, Sarah prepared waffles for Joel that he didn't eat. Sarah and Joel turn down biscuits from their neighbor. Joel forgot to grab birthday cake. Perfection.
The connected mushrooms underground are so cooool. If I recall correctly, the largest living organism in the world is a giant fungus/mushroom that lives underground somewhere and it stretches for like a mile or something crazy like that
Give the set designers every award there is 👏👏👏
This airs in the uk at 2am & I stupidly watched it then. I couldn’t sleep at all!! Thanks HBO!
I'm so glad they got the same Clicker Actors from the game on the show
The aspect of the fibers being all connected is based on a real life fungi as well. The Armillaria fungi is (from what I remember) is the largest recorded living organism on earth, with the fibers extending for long stretches just like in the show. It’s so huge but all connected as one organism. It is a deviation from the game that I can respect a lot. Honestly all the deviations this far I get and respect. *chefs kiss*
This ending was so emotional and heartbreaking 💔 😭😭😭
Always love to see both of yall’s reactions!❤
I never played the games but have always wanted to watch the story so I'm loving every bit of this. Everything about this show is amazing.
I love the opening to episode two for one simple reason- what makes it unique & shocking is that in most movies & shows it's the military that's all "bomb everything," but here it's the scientist saying it. She asks pointed questions and makes quick calculations based on her experience and the answers and she knows that mankind is doomed
