I got a magura E with my x260 and NEVER tried the OEM throttle. So I was lucky at first, no deadzone, newer style revised cable, THOUGHT it was great. It eventually would stop at random, left me stranded MILES from my truck. Got home, re-meshed the gears, dealt with perfection at first, dead @500 miles, meshed and jiggles wires to find the potentiometer was wiggin out. Now it works but has the noted 10% "deadzone" and WAY WAY limited power. Very frustrating. Wouldn't recommend Magura to ANYONE. Way too expensive, unreliable, and CS in non-existent IMO. Ended up going back to stock 🤔🥺🤗
I have the domino throttle on my onyx rcr and it felt really cheap when installing it. But it’s a very recommended upgrade to the stock throttle. But I will say I like the sur ron stock throttle because the extra stiffness on the domino will gives you cramps on long distance rides. For what you guys do tho I can see it working a lot better.
The magura throttle tube is quite short. The grip that comes with the generic magura ethrottle fits perfect but it’s tiny lol. It works okay on my scooter but is certainly not good on my Sur Ron .
One thing you didn't mention in your test is that the magura throttle, after just a few months of hard use we'll start getting spots in the potentiometer that are rough and glitchy. Causing the bike not to have smooth throttle response. I've literally replaced half a dozen of these on my electric dirt bikes over the years. A couple years ago I switch to the Domino, and even though it's much more expensive in the end it pays for itself. Condensation gets inside the and ruins the potentiometer inside the magura. The higher dollar Domino is waterproof. Been running it for about a year-and-a-half I never had a problem on either of my bikes.
I know this is old, but you've explained my EXACT issue. I got a magura and NEVER EVER used a stock 😅. At 500 miles my throttle started to get "glitchy" in eco-mode, and I do use it around town or on longer trips. Thought it was normal for eco I didn't know. First E-dirt bike! Had my bike in the bed of my truck going home and got caught in light rain.... Following day I'm at the skatepark and throttle input stops. All sensors gone BUT kick-stand. Power cycled bike and cleaned kick sensor, all good again!? Next day... I'm 2 miles from my truck POACHING city spots, bike tried to "slow roll" in sport mode at a few 🛑? Power cycled bike, NO THROTTLE! Walked FAR back to truck. Did DEEP diagnosis and started to suspect hall sensor. Tapped the throttle housing with screwdriver 🪛 and throttle kicked on HARD. LUCKILY bike was in a stand but it tried to jump off! Pulled apart Magura, and wiggles potentiometer and wires and got it working but now had way lower throttle input and stops whenever it wants. 😢 Suddenly has the dead-spot I NEVER had before either. Glad it's just the throttle but man I was so disappointed! I think you hit the nail in one swing. Mine was on the fritz, and I think the rain while hauling finished off that potentiometer!!! CS won't even reply. What a TERRIBLE PRODUCT iMO. Waiting on the "newer" OEM Surron dual sensor now to see how that goes.... Wish I found comments like yours before these issues ❤
OMG you guys read my mind. Was going to ask if you had mounted a DOMINO E-THROTTLE yet because I’ve had one for months but has more wires than the stock e-throttle. Yes the stock SR e-throttle sucks & I have hated it because it’s more than a 1/4 turn. It’s weird because it’s just a little more than a 1/4 turn and so uncomfortable having to double grab the damb thing ! Seriously the DOMINO comes on a lot of e-motorcycles in Europe. One thing I do is put a lite coating of grease on the last 3” of the handle bars to keep the throttle tube moving freely at all times. I’ve done this for years on my dirt bikes. Plastic throttle tubes can work for years with no problem if using a little grease on your bars. Great information and saves us a phone call.
Great video guys! As someone who has owned and rode with all 3 throttles, I can say hands down that the Domino throttle is the best!!!! Feels close to my KTM throttle. The stiffer spring tension helps to hold consistent throttle over rough terrain. The only thing better would be a Domino with a metal housing!
Haha same here, the factory cable snapped after 2 weeks on mine because of a lack of grease, i bought 2 spare throttle cables and the electric throttle at once and i’m still using the mechanical throttle combined with a metal quick throttle from eBay :)

What, bro, if you're going off a jump, you're going to lead off the throttle. 90% of the time, unless you're literally goofing all. Also, if you take a jump and you gun the throttle in the air you run the risk. of stripping the grid. out of your belt drive. These aren't. dirt bikes. So we get no revenue in the air. Unfortunately,
Sorry, but I'm not impressed with this review approach. Definitely, I may be ignorant of the whole topic, and I'll talk more about that, later. First, in your consideration of these throttles you've only looked at the mechanical aspects: smoothness, return spring rate, and degree of turn. Because videos can be paused and rerun I was immediately dismissive when you claimed the stock throttle had too much turn when 2:51 shows it's less than 1/4 turn. You said you wanted something with less turn/quicker action, but you only compared the degree with the Magura at 7:58 which showed it was also less than 1/4 turn. And, as far as I can tell the Domino isn't any less than 1/4 turn, either, although you subjectively say it feels like 3/16. Then, you only ride the Domino and not the Magura. I'm a stickler for this, because I've done lots of throttle testing on motorcycles and know you have to take precise measurements to know what degree turn a throttle actually is, and I also know that quicker turn throttles - 1/5 or 1/6 - are sometimes too quick and actually degrade control. People like the idea of a quick action throttle but in practice it's not so simple. I feel I'm ignorant on this topic because you say the throttles have to be programmed. My thinking is that these are all electronic throttles, so the mechanical aspects play some part in the feel/response, but wouldn't the primary quality of these throttles be determined by the twist/response ratio, which is something that can only be felt when actually riding the bike? Questions: 1. Can any/all of these throttles (even the stock one) have their twist/response quality altered by programming/tuning? Or is it just a matter of getting the controller seeing "in-spec" voltages? 2. Luna Cycle also sells a "cable throttle conversion kit" which is a traditional cable throttle mated to an electronic box. Wouldn't this be a valid alternative, as then one could mate whatever motorcycle throttle he or she is used to with that kit?
Our EMBtuner app now allows people with our controller to set their own throttle votlages for free - tuning session no longer needed.
What settings for the domino throttle would you recommend on the embtuner app?

We used to have everything at $35 regardless of who you bought it from but too many people were taking advantage of that price point and it costs us multiple 1000s per year just to use the remote software.
Questions:
